Funny thing is, I loved him even back then. I remember him stating that he was “kind of a big deal” at 21, which sounds arrogant AF, but since he had already interned at both Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen, he wasn’t actually wrong. I did dislike that almost everything he designed in his season was black, brown, or cream, but I don’t recall them ever calling him out on it, so… His looks for Tressemé (with the late Chris March), his Reese’s candy wrapper dress, his art inspiration look, and that gorgeous ombré gown in his finale collection were all excellent. He has done some gorgeous red carpet looks and I usually find more to like than dislike in his collections. If, however, he designed Alicia Silverstone’s boobaliscious Dogpatch dress, yuck! But back to the current episode, upon further examination of the looks, I think Kayne had a well-deserved win. I loved that she came out with the bottom of the dress as a shrug, then dropped it into the train it was. Clever and dramatic. I still don’t understand Bishme’s being in the top. The hot pink and black chopped her in half and made her look stocky.

I love Bishme and was very happy to see him back, but I really disliked his look and was surprised to see it in the top. Alicia Silverstone is still gorgeous (even though I think she’s a kook), but that outfit was NOT it. Happy to see Rami, Kayne, Victor, Laurance, Mila, Korto, and a few others. Hester can leave any time now, seriously. One of my least favorites ever.

S08.E03: The Supermarket Ball

I will miss Mrs. Kasha Davis. She has got the sweetest presence online and is truly a joy. Darienne could have gone home and I wouldn’t have minded a bit. -
Well, you can come and sit by me. I’m struggling with this season because it’s turned into “The Carolyn and Yam Yam Show”. They’re almost certainly going to be in the finale at this point, and I’m going to have wasted a lot of Wednesday nights waiting for their comeuppance.
-
I wish Yam Yam was half as cute as he thinks he is.

I think he’s guilty, but I don’t think I could have found him guilty on the basis of that 911 call. My mother died when I was barely 15. I was babysitting that night, and my father told me through the bathroom door when I got home. I was sucker punched, but when he asked if I was okay, I told him, “Yeah, I’m fine.” He was back in bed before I could open the door. I was working in a childcare and we had a baby pass from SIDS. The rest of the staff understandably fell apart, and I got the kids up from nap and fed them all snack. Support staff came in and took over from me and told me to go with the others, and I did. But I was the comforter…that’s what I felt my job was. I can fall apart on my own time. So yeah, that’d be me, too. I can take an emotional blow and compartmentalize it until it’s “appropriate” for me to fall apart. (**Although I am apparently not as tough as I think. One of those staff support people who came into the childcare told me that the employees weeping out front didn’t hit them as hard as my “must not cry” stoicism did.)

For me, I’m more annoyed that Luxx is still there. Her drag is fine, even above average. But she is messy in lip syncs, she’s a shit stirrer, and she just doesn’t project an ounce of warmth or charm. She and Mistress are exactly even in every respect but one…Mistress’s drag is just a touch more elevated than Luxx’s, and she has that “token big girl” check mark on her side.
-
I guess I’m in the minority here, but I’m really bored with the Carolyn & Yam Yam Comedy Hour. I just can’t get myself into this season, at all.
-
Erin was saying it like autumn-null, like two separate words. I will give her the benefit of the doubt that she may have grown up hearing it said that way and assumed it was correct. But yeah, the emphasis is on the second syllable, and it was a little jarring to me that either no one corrected her or she insisted that her version was correct.
-
She is?!?! Holy cow, I figured at least 10-12 years older than that! And it’s not because of her size…I’m a plus-sized senior citizen and usually assumed to be at least 10-12 years younger than I am.
-
Big. Red. X. Loosey’s teacher looked exactly like her! And her LSFYL beat Luxx, who didn’t know the words and spent her energy writhing messily around the stage and hopping in front of Loosey every chance she got. Honestly, Mistress and Luxx ought to have been the bottom two, but Ru wasn’t going to let Loosey get to the finale anymore than she was going to let Marcia Marcia Marcia get there. There has been some bullshit judging this season, that’s for sure.

This. I was really liking him, then all of the showboaty cartoonish flips and somersaults started to show up, and the problem is, he’s totally playing to the cameras and the people watching at home. It’s annoying. And I know everyone loves Carolyn, but her eye rolls and pulling faces make me feel the same way about her. My sad truth about this show is that too many players are trying too hard to become fan favorites, memes, and “beloved weirdos” for the fans at home. It’s not cute.

I didn’t think Mistress did so well, either, to be honest. And I like Mistress. I think they deliberately eliminated Marcia Marcia Marcia last week because she’d have killed it this week and likely made the finale. She may be young and not what this show is looking for, but she’s a truly talented queen and seems to be a real sweetheart as well, judging from her “Whatcha Packin?” with Michelle. Neither queen won that LSFYL, but Salina has been circling the bowl for a while now and it was her time to go. I couldn’t stand her from the minute I saw her “Meet the Queens” segment, and she honestly never grew on me a bit…until I watched her interview with Michelle this morning. She seems pretty fragile, honestly, and it made me like her a bit more. I’m 99.9% sure Loosey will go out next week, leaving us with Luxx, Mistress, Sasha, and Anetra as our final four. I’m rooting for Anetra all the way, but I’m not going to be one bit surprised if we get our first plus-sized queen in Mistress. **And I just have to add, I really hate the heavy handed editing on this show. Loosey is no more over confident than Mistress or Luxx or any number of other queens, and I really like her “macho man by day profession, drag queen by night” backstory. She’s been turned into such a whiny, entitled brat by the editing that it’s easy for people to dislike her, but she’s actually quite talented and has the goods to back up her confidence.

Danny and Heidi are the only two I like on that tribe, so I don’t too much care who goes.
-
You’re not. I can’t stand her.
-
I wonder what the odds were that all three players would have different outcomes? And I wonder what advantage was in Matt’s bag?
-
Carolyn is annoying as hell.
-
Dammit, Matthew! I was beginning to like you!
-
Gawd, Carolyn. Maybe she got the “shucks, how do I talk to the camera?” moment so we won’t miss her when she goes?

S15.08: Lipsync Lalaparuza Smackdown

I thought going up against Marcia Marcia Marcia was a bad move on Malaysia’s part. M3 is a theatre kid, her talent show performance was hysterical, and really the only criticism she receives is that her drag is too subtle. Her talent has really not been questioned at all, and I would never choose to go against her. Won’t miss Jax one way or the other, and kind of felt like this was her time to go anyway. But we could have lost Spice and it wouldn’t have hurt a bit. So we get 90-minute episodes starting March 10th, huh? There will only be 7 queens left out of the original 16 by then, and only about three episodes left until the finale. Too little, too late in my opinion. I really think a lot of the queens this season got shortchanged by the move to MTV. -
Ah, the inevitable Sugar vs. Spice showdown. They were dreadful in Snatch Game, but Spice’s Miley Cyrus has to have been one of the worst ever celebrity impersonations. Loosey LaDuca and Marcia Marcia Marcia completely disappeared into Joan Rivers and Tim Gunn. Very impressive! This episode was far too rushed. Snatch Game with soooooo many queens left, no judge’s deliberations again…it’s ridiculous how rushed this all is. Untucked making me really feel for Sugar and Spice…

This is the only reason I know who she is…I love Brandi Carlisle and “The Chain” is one of my favorite songs. The Highwomen’s version is fabulous. -

That was Maren Morris, a country musician. -
Well, I never start topics or threads, so I can never comment until someone else decides to do it. But AJ McLean is a great performer and I’m happy with the Poppy Love win. But Thirsty was excellent as well, and would have made a fine winner.
