S02.E01: Persons of Interest

Thank goodness I’m not the only one! I hated when I heard she was joining the cast. -

I do think Raja is absolutely stunning, maybe even more so than Jaida. But I can never root against Jinkx, unless maybe she was competing against BenDeLaCreme….then I’d just have to not care who won! -

Personally, I would love to see Ru get a song from Florence and the Machine, which seems right in Jinkx’s wheelhouse. Pretty unlikely, I know, but I can want what I want. -

Well, so far she’s beaten Trinity and Raja. In her winning season she only had to LSFYL once, against Detox, and she beat her. I think she’s got a helluva lot more skill at the LSFYLs than people think. Girl knows how to win! -

I was a little underwhelmed with this episode and didn’t actually love most of the looks. And you know, someone really needs to block Jaida, because they are severely underestimating her. She is visually stunning, she’s funny, and she can really sell whatever she’s doing by charming everyone’s socks off. They’re focusing on Jinkx, and while I adore Jinkx and definitely think she’s among the very best this show has ever given us, nobody seems to be looking in Jaida’s direction and they really should. Raja really seems to be getting very little recognition from the judges this season. She was THE fashion queen for the longest time, but it seems that…for the judges at least…Trinity and Jaida have taken that title from her, and Viv is hot on their heels. My top four preference would be Jinkx, Jaida, Raja, and Trinity with Jinkx winning. I do think Jinkx will be there, and maybe Jaida, too. But the other spots, I just don’t know. -

The Vivienne flat out said she’d have blocked Jinkx is she had been eligible to be blocked, so why shouldn’t Jinkx strike back? -

Viv looked so much like Dolly Parton, it wasn’t even funny! She really deserved her win, but I’m gonna need her to back TF off my beloved Jinkxy. Saying “some cow” had blocked her, when she initiated their little rivalry? Not cute to me. -

I hope you’re right. I love Jinkx beyond all reason, and after the shit she took in Season 5 from her fellow queens, and the crap people talked about her being an undeserving winner, seeing her win again would make my day. -
S07.E04: Fairytale Justice

I thought Shea was pretty great in her season, but I truly loved Sasha Velour and was beyond thrilled for her win. When Shea came back for her All Stars season, her entire storyline seemed to be about her traumatic experience of losing to Sasha and being triggered by rose petals. It reeked of entitlement to me…she couldn’t just feel that Sasha had beaten her with that iconic LSFYL, no, she was sabotaged by rose petals. And then “fans” taunting her with rose petals afterwards, while that’s pretty shitty and I get could be upsetting to a degree, Shea had to go into therapy over that and IIRC, she said she suffered from PTSD after the experience. I remember so many teary moments on stage, with poor Miss Couleé telling the judges how tragic her life had been since losing to Sasha. I lost any positive feelings I had for her after that. The very nature of a competition is that not everyone wins!! She truly seemed to think that because she had done well in most (all?) of the challenges that she was owed the crown, forgetting that not only did Sasha perform brilliantly all season, too, but that Mama Ru can pick anybody she wants, despite how well or poorly they do. (How else to explain the inclusion of Silky or Kandy Muse in their finales?). So while I do find Shea positively beautiful to look at out of drag, and a pretty good (occasionally great) performer, I just don’t like her and I feel like her All Stars win was a consolation prize. Both Jujubee and Miz Cracker performed brilliantly that season and would have made wonderful winners. -
S07.E03: The Realness of Fortune Ball

WRT Yvie, I have to confess that I loved Yvie on her season, was tickled pink with her win, and was excited to see her in this cast. But for some reason, she’s not doing it for me this season. The laugh and the tongue thing are kinda cringey and that seems to be a huge part of her “oddball” persona. Maybe I only adored her in her season because she wasn’t “Dr. Silky Nutmeg Ganache”? I think Raja is really getting the short end of the stick here. She has been just edged out of the top nearly every week, and it’s surprising. But I guess now she knows what it feels like to be a “booger” rather than a “Heather”…sort of. I still don’t understand the love for Monét. I don’t find her funny, don’t like her style, I think her makeup skills fall short (in the sketch her prosthetic nose/snout was oh-so obvious, while Jinkx and Jaida blended the edges of theirs in to utter perfection), and she just reads “dude” when she walks the runway. She’s my least favorite in this cast, and one of my least favorite winners in the history of the show. Sorry to those who love her, YMMV and all, but I am not a fan. Jinkx, on the other hand…I love her more and more. She’s just so intensely funny!! And after how horribly she was treated in Season 5, to see Jaida pick her first and see her getting nothing but love and support from this group makes me so happy for her. -

Jaida. Is. STUNNING. I seriously think she is one of the most beautiful queens this show has ever seen. Jinkx is everything. Possibly an unpopular opinion, but I’ve never really been a huge fan of Monet’s. I don’t know why, exactly, because there’s nothing to dislike about her, unlike say, Sharon Needles or Alaska or Tyra Sanchez. But I really hope she isn’t final four. The Vivienne and Raja seem to be criminally overlooked thus far, but I guess since we’re just three episodes in that could change. But Trinity being in the top 2/3 of the episodes thus far, and over Raja this week and last week feels wrong. I love Yvie Oddly. -
Jinkx Monsoon and Sasha Velour are my two favorite winners ever, and Jinkx’s Little Edie was one of the best Snatch Game characters ever. I was sooooo happy to see her do so brilliantly again! The deep cut to Dave was everything, and really shows Jinkx’s intelligence and thoughtful approach to the competition. I love her madly and hope she wins it all.

Askey did, indeed, order evidence destroyed. She was denied. Askey probably didn’t care if someone with a grain of sense told her not to go on Dateline. Because she’s right, y’know!! Russ killed Betsy, all his game night buddies helped him do it, Pam is a sweet, misunderstood victim in all of this, and Gumpenberger’s murder is not connected at all! We’re all just stupid. Only Leah Askey and Pam Hupp fight for the truth, y’all. Sheesh.

Looks like no one cares, lol. Ru stated that this season has been so long because the cast is so incredibly wonderful, but I think the repeated non-eliminations plus the glut of available Drag Race versions out there available for viewing have really hurt the show. #TeamLadyCamden, but I think Willow’s winning it.

You know, if Askey had a drop of humility or humanity in her, she would admit that she was duped by Pam herself, or blinded by her own ambition, or hell, just that she made a mistake. She’d offer an apology to Russ, and the people who despise her might just despise her a tiny bit less. But nope, she doubles down and can’t admit that Russ was and is innocent. I don’t think she’s much better than Pam, honestly. I actually don’t blame Russ for not being ready to accept Betsy’s mother and daughters back into his life. He and Betsy were married over ten years…by then, they all should have had an idea of what kind of man he was or wasn’t. I understand he wasn’t the ideal man, but as far as murder goes, I’m sorry, I may just be too trusting but I’d have to have a lot of hard core, honest-to-goodness proof that my dad or son-in-law had killed someone, not just the half-assed theories proposed by Askey. Mariah at least was still a kid (well, a teenager) when Russ went to trial, but Betsy’s mom didn’t believe in Russ’s innocence until Pam was charged. I remember the first time I saw this case covered on Dateline, I didn’t think Russ was guilty. The receipts, the timeline, the alibi witnesses, and all just convinced me. It’s amazing to me how many twists and turns this story took.

Listen, I root for the woman 99% of the time, but when you throw a Joe, a Malcolm, or a Jonathan in the game, that gets tossed out the window and I’m willing to travel to Fiji myself and hand Jonathan an idol weekly, if need be. I want to see one of those type of guys win once. Yes, I’m shallow. I am not ashamed.

As much as Daya annoys me BTS, I can’t deny that she is a damned good queen and truly turns it on the runway. I hate queens coming back into the competition in general (and I hate it across the board on all competitive shows, hello SURVIVOR), but if that’s how Ru wants to run her show, then at least Daya has performed well and isn’t actually undeserving. I am a hardcore Lady Camden fan, though, and really want her to win it all.
