  1. TeeVee, Kristin used to actually be considered the good Dimera. She was a protégé of Alice Horton. Kristen and Peter were considered the good Dimera children before Lexi. In fact Kristen and Peter were a big reason why Lexi was able to come to terms with Stefano being her father, because Kristen and Peter were her friends and good people. Kristen for all intents and purposes was a "normal" character. She and Jon used to have a really good relationship. She went crazy when she had a miscarriage and Peter was presumed dead. During that time Kristen found a letter that Jon had written Marlena when he was on death row claiming Marlena to be the love of his life, while Kristen was being the dutiful supportive pregnant fiancée. Kristen had a mental breakdown after that and decided to keep up a fake pregnancy and asked Stefano for help. This is where EJ and Susan came in. Kristen, Jennifer, and Billie were all best friends back in the day. They actually used to call themselves the Three Musketeers. There were a really great trio. That was back when we Days used to actually take the time to develop friendships and weren't so obsessed with couples. You can actually see the old clips on youtube. In fact when Lisa Rinna left as Billie and Krista Allen replaced her, they actually went back and re-shot a lot of friendship scenes of Kristen, Billie, and Jennifer so they could still do flashbacks of them hanging out. In essence Kristen was really screwed over by Jon and Marlena back in the day. That is why a lot of fans had no issue when she returned and starting messing with them. I wished they would of focused on her revenge against Jon and Marlena and not brought Brady into the mix. Kristen is also responsible for Roman being alive and back in Salem. Yes, Kristen wanted to use Roman to help her break up Jon and Marlena so her motives weren't good. But Roman was presumed dead on a mission and Kristen was the one who wouldn't take no for an answer and went on a hunt for Roman who was on death's door at the time. She got him medical help and brought him back to Salem. Hell, even Sami at the time had to give it up and thank Kristen for saving Roman.
  2. That was absurd. I am an actor in LA, and I have never seen a casting call like that in my life. No reputable casting agency would have put that out. Are they trying to save on money and hired someone's sister-in-law, baby cousin Tracy to do casting? No casting description is that long for a featured extra. Certainly not one with a grading system. Truly ridiculous.
  3. I think that deep down Sami knows that while Rafe is a good guy he is attracted to drama and complicated women. Rafe has been involved with Sami, Kate, and had complicated relationship with both Nicole and Carrie. I think that in a choice between Kate and Jordan, Sami knows that Jordan is way to bland for Rafe.
  4. I couldn't agree with you more. I didn't even understand her logic. Yes, Rihanna is and can be very sexual in her music and photo shoots but she certainly doesn't have the reputation of being someone who goes from man to man. She actually seems to be more relationship oriented. She is never seen dating a man whom she isn't in a relationship with. This goes back to Wendy saying how "Black and White" she is, and how she is working on seeing things as "gray". A person like her couldn't fathom that someone as sexual as Rihanna couldn't be a good girlfriend, and just naturally is promiscuous. The latest thing that turned me off was her conversation about Kendra and Hank. She basically shamed Kendra for staying in her marriage to Hank because she "thinks" that Kendra is staying for her kids (which has yet to be confirmed). Considering Wendy has dealt with a cheating husband that she chose to stay with I found her tone and approach to shaming Kendra really hypocritical. Also her comment about "Now is Hank going to come out of the closet"? My understanding is that Ava the woman that Hank slept with is biologically a woman, so why is she questioning whether Hank is now gay. For someone who prides herself on her Hot Topics, she can be incredibly uninformed.
  5. I had a similar encounter with Diane Lane years ago. This was more than five years ago when she was still with Josh Brolin. I used to work at a home goods store in West LA and one day during the Christmas rush, Josh and Diane came in. I happened to be ringing that day and spotted them in line. If I remember correctly I actually rang them up for there few items. Now I have always thought of Diane Lane as a beautiful woman but I can't tell you how stunningly gorgeous she looks in person. She was very casually dressed and had short curly hair at the time and I don't believe any make-up. It was literally like everyone in the store stopped to just stare at her. Josh was cute too, and a very handsome man himself but no one was really paying attention to him with Diane standing there. Shannon L, I know what you mean about some celebrities just "glowing" in person.
  6. The funniest part of the exchange today was when Jenny was making a joke about doing "The View" game and she said that you would get points for not interrupting. Then they cut to Whoppi getting annoyed by that and said "You know what babe, that game will only apply to those that are still here". BURN!!! The exchange sort of got lost in the shuffle but Whoppi was pissed.
  7. Black Knight, from what I remember both stories may be true. Originally Curtis kidnapped Billie and Austin so that may have been the timeframe where Kate wasn't looking for them because she was basically this scared little wife. Then there was a point where Curtis showed up and produced evidence that Billie and Austin had been killed in a car accident to throw it in Kate's face. After that Curtis changed their names, "Austin and Billie" are not their original names. He did this so that Kate would never find them. This was also used as the reason that Kate and Marlena didn't recognize Austin and Billie or make the connection that they were Kate's dead children. Then again the Days writers have always pulled so many changes in their own stories it is hard to keep track. They also did this when they bought Laura Horton back and made Kate and she rivals, when in the original story I don't even think that Laura and Kate interacted.
  8. That was sort of a retcon. Bill did have an affair with a woman named Kate back in the 70's. What they did was merge that "Kate" with Kate Roberts. They just sort of changed around her background. Kate Roberts was around the hospital back then because she was being treated for not only being a battered wife, but for her grief over Austin and Billy being killed in a car accident. That is how she met and became friends with Marlena. This is also where she met Bill. They essentially just took Bill's mystery affair with a woman named Kate and made her and Kate Roberts the same woman when Kate returned to Salem back in the early 90's.
  9. LeftPhalange, Bill and Lucas are on good terms now. Growing up Kate told Lucas that his father was an officer in the service I believe. Bill never knew about Lucas. Bill has always been incredibly creepy to me. He sort of used Kate back in the day as an escape between his screwed up marriage to Laura. Bill sort of took advantage of Kate being a grieving mother over Austin and Billy's "murder", she realized that Bill was never going to leave Laura for her. She found herself pregnant with Lucas and alone, with only Marlena as her friend. That is when Stefano came in and persuaded her to become a high class escort for his rich business friends. Kate used that money to take care of Lucas and put herself through school and become an executive. If you check out the old clips on youtube, of the last couple of times that Bill has come back to Salem his scenes with Kate are always interesting. In one of them, I believe when Alice dies and Kate stops by Bill actually apologizes to Kate for the way he treated her back then. Bill always plays the scene as if he regrets to some extent picking Laura over Kate. Ironically a lot of new viewers always think that Will is named after Bill Horton, but he is actually named after Billie. It is a holdover from when Austin was presumed to be Will's father, but Lucas and Billie have always been close to, so Lucas never once thought of changing his name. In fact back when Will was born Lucas would of never named Will after Bill. They were still very much strangers then.
  10. ShadowSixx, Maggie is Daniel's birth mother. Years ago Maggie donated or had eggs stored but not for conceiving, I can't remember the details. Anyway Victor's best friend and his wife wanted a baby badly but couldn't conceive so Victor arranged to use Maggie's eggs for his best friend and wife. I believe that Victor had no clue who's eggs they belonged too. That child was Daniel. Victor is Daniel's god father. Actually the only reason that Daniel was made Maggie's son is because Daniel's daughter Melanie was extremely close to Maggie and they always had a grandmother/granddaughter relationship. So when the writer's made Melanie, Daniel and Carly's daughter they saw an opening to cement the Maggie/Melanie relationship by making Maggie, Daniel's birth mother. Ironically Melanie is no longer on the show and we are stuck with Maggie being a meddling mother to her middle aged son Daniel. Daniel does still call her Maggie sometimes but does refer to her as his mother. What is sad is that Maggie used to have this really sweet, endearing mother/son relationship with Lucas that sort of got pushed to the way side for her relationships with Brady and Daniel. Since Maggie now only exists to be a meddlesome mother, we never get anymore scenes with her and Lucas. I always thought that a good storyline would of been to put Maggie in the middle of the Daniel and Lucas rivalry. It would of been nice to see Maggie conflicted between both her "sons". Or at least have the nerve to bitch Daniel out for what he did to Lucas.
  11. The irony is that even though Lucas and Sami have there own trouble past. You can still see the affection and history between them and they have actually and truly arrived at new place in life with each other. Her and EJ have done just as much to each other in a quarter of the time and they haven't even come close to the "understanding" Lucas and Sami have.
  12. I agree with the sentiment but with Chicago I think that they got it right. Catherine was more of a supporting role, not only in screen time but also in perspective. The movie was shot from Roxie's point of view and was HER story, with Velma as a character in the story, as opposed to THEIR story. In addition to two co-stars campaigning in separate categories to secure a nomination. It also has to do with the fact that if both performances got nominated in the same category, there is always a question of splitting the vote. For example, Thelma and Louise. Both Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis were nominated as Best Actress, neither won, with the thought being that all the voters who loved the movie voted for one or the other with neither one of them scoring enough votes to win. With Thelma and Louise, at least they got the nominations right both women were leads and deserved to be nominated. Then you also have the nomination switch based on star power. Jamie Foxx was in a unique situation with both Ray and Collateral. He was a lead in both movies. Now the bigger push was for Ray of course, with Jamie's Collateral performance being nominated as supporting, but I also think the fact that Tom Cruise was the bigger star of the movie despite the fact that Jaime was the lead also had something to do with it. In that case it worked out with Jaime winning for Ray, and being added to the Club of those who receive dual nominations.
  13. I would love to have Celeste come back. She was such a serviceable character for many plots. One of my favorite plots was Sami and Celeste teaming up years ago to kill EJ.
  14. I think that we are objecting to the fact that Kate has always been smart enough to maybe pick up the fact that there is more at play here. Her two oldest children escaped from Curtis because of his abuse. A brother and sister, who on the surface seem like nice people, change their name and are on the run from there father. Kate should have instantly thought something was suspicious. I think with Kate the Chloe situation was different because Kate for the most part doesn't have the "shame" attached to being a prostitute. For her it came along at a difficult time in her life but she made a lot of money from it, put herself and Lucas through school and once she became legit she quit. The only shame Kate ever had was about Austin, Billie, and Lucas finding out. Which actually drew them all closer as a family. Kate leading a possible abusive man to his runaway children is not something she would ever do. Her experience with Curtis, and losing Austin and Billie is never something that Kate has ever traded on or used against someone else.
  15. I agree, if I would of nominated Mark Wahlberg for anything it would have been Boogie Nights. I did like him in The Fighter and wouldn't of minded a nomination there. Ironically I hate the fact that he was nominated for The Departed. I like Mark Wahlberg but that was an absurd nomination. I would of nominated about five other actors from that movie over Wahlberg.
  16. I think that they are keeping Whoppi because she is the only ace that they have. Whoppi's Q score is still very high, and she has and continues to help them bring in high powered guests that wouldn't of come on the show otherwise. If Geddy is really out I would love to see a Rosie, Whoppi, Star, Joy, and someone else combination.
  17. Lol, those cleaners should have gotten the money.
  18. I think the screen time rule should be more a percentage. For example, Viola Davis in Doubt is only in the movie for about 12-15 minutes but the movie itself is only an hour and a half. For me, my personal rule is a question of screen time multiplied by the impact that the character has on the story as a whole. I would of voted for Anthony Hopkins and Viola Davis but I wouldn't of voted for Judi Dench, whose Oscar was more of a make up anyway for losing Ms. Brown.
  19. So glad to be able to make the trek over here and see some familiar "faces". Glad to have a place to continue the discussions.
