  1. I'm always willing to expand and deepen the peevishness, so I'll say I dislike forum dog-piling, over-praising, being off-topic, rampant bashing, intense scrutinizing, mocking children, AND excessive posting! I therefore tend to avoid any discussion forums/comment sections that get more than 50 or so posts per episode because there are bound to be contingents and factions. I just don't care enough about any show to wade through that. I'm a total cellar dweller.
  2. That may be the worst use of Jon Stewart's talents ever. I hope the guy didn't shave specifically for this.
  3. His and my age and marital discrepancies aside, I TV-love Hasan.
  4. Jeez, how many total hours have we all spent over the years watching people on TV idly stab their forks at food on their plates but never take a bite?
  5. It was really sweet when Matthew Modine put his hand on David Harbour's shoulder to support and steady him during David's speech. He clearly saw David's hand shaking as it held the paper. I got nothing against Julia Louis-Dreyfus, but jeez already. She can act that role in her sleep by now.
  6. I love that Stranger Things won! I don't think the ST cast were necessarily the best in an acting master class sense, but they were terrifically entertaining and that's almost never acknowledged with awards. Also very pleased to see Hidden Figures get some recognition because I was pissed about the Golden Globes snub. My ex was a SAG member because he worked as an extra in local TV series a few times. I always filled out his ballot because he didn't care. Who knows what percentage of voters are regularly employed union members vs dabblers like my ex who merely kept his dues paid, but I certainly voted with my heart and/or grudges in mind!
  7. "Snappy Jenkins" was the best line of the episode. I love Morse's relationship with Miss Frazil. I'm hesitant to call them friends, but at least Morse has one person he trusts and likes enough to spend time with outside of work. I can't believe Morse is planning to send Thursday a freaking goodbye letter after he quits. That and "Marry me" made he want to give him a good shaking. I did get a laugh out of him being so impatient with all the new agey stuff, and letting Dowsable read his Tarot cards under the guise of questioning her. Did they say who ransacked Morse's flat and why? I missed it. Sorry to be indelicate, but I'm worried for Morse's and Thursday's gonads after that radiation exposure! I wasn't entirely sure what exploded and if all the steam was radioactive, but I'm pretty sure any dosimeters would have been pegging the meter.
  8. A cough is always the harbinger of doom on TV. Nobody ever has a cold or allergies or a tickle in their throat.
  9. I didn't totally understand Sui's situation with his family being separated, but he's such a decent, sincere person and him being so emotional and grateful to Tia got to me. I'm sure he'll continue pushing forward in his life. The NJ adopters who took Black were adorable. It was great to see them both immediately bond with the dog.
  10. Speaking of that, why were the Twincests going rowing and Archie/Miss Grundy having a makeout session by the river at just after dawn/6:30 am? I can be bothered to wonder why Cheryl was wearing a dress, heels and gloves.
  11. I feel you. I inherited a cat at one point and enjoyed her company but didn't seek to repeat it after she died. My default setting has always been: no kids, no pets, no plants. I don't mind if someone considers that to be selfish, though. It might be.
  12. Hurray for Debbie, is all I have to say. Not just putting in those backbreaking hours but apparently making everything she cooked taste really good. She even cracked out a Battenberg cake that might have won that challenge on this season's Great American Baking Show. I imagine the family will lose her next week during the war? The Robshaws are very good sports but I don't find them all that interesting on their own; it's the historical period details that keep me watching.
  13. Leah's discussion about being hesitant to do another season was on Adam Carolla's show, not Conan. ;)
  14. He's still the only one I could reliably identify! I hope they all passed their internal hurdles and proved to themselves whatever it was they needed to prove. That sounds snarky but it's not.
  15. Unfunny and SO LONG! It's uncomfortable filler that takes the spotlight away from the panelists. The show should have viewers participate in some of the live challenges in real time, submitting answers during the commercial break. Viewers are often just as funny in hashtag wars as the guests.
  16. Same with Molly! The judges didn't even know the overskirt was removable until afterwards. Probably the kids were used to their professional models and didn't think about needing to give instructions. That said, the clients (and the fire fighters third-wheeling around the workroom with their gear on) were all really good sports and the women did a great job on the runway. I know I'd be dying from self-consciousness up there, madly trying to remember all Miss J's walking rules.
  17. Here's Leah's segment on Conan, if interested. It's around 13 minutes and she covered a lot of ground. Conan was quiet and respectful. The "cherch" sent the show a letter before Leah's appearance to denigrate her.
  18. This is my own emotional state, but I've been fast-forwarding quite a bit because Sam continues to present everything at such an anxious, exited level. It's too stressful for me when everything is pitched at 10.
  19. I once got a traffic ticket in the mail from an automatic camera and my driving face was horrifying.
  20. It's very kind of people to hope that Whit did not have a miscarriage because of the emotional pain, but I don't believe Whit would have cared. If she had been pregnant, she would have used it to continue to manipulate her family, friends, and fans, but ultimately she would have been relieved to miscarry.
  21. It would be fun if these were all Amazon pilots we could vote on. I assume they'll give Jonathan Creek a creative credit on this one: DECEPTION When his career is ruined by scandal, superstar magician Cameron Black has only one place to turn to practice his art of deception, illusion, and influence — the FBI. He’ll become the world’s first consulting illusionist, helping the government solve crimes that defy explanation and trap criminals and spies by using deception. Could be interesting but I hope This Is Us isn't going to spawn a lot of these. ME, MYSELF & I A single-camera comedy examining one man’s life over a 50-year span. The show will focus on three distinct periods in his life — as a 14-year-old in 1991, a 40-year-old in present day, and a 65-year-old in 2042. Yeah, the fact of Seth Farland's involvement makes this a no-go for me. ORVILLE — STRAIGHT TO SERIES WRITER: Seth MacFarlane CAST: Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy), Adrianne Palicki (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Penny Johnson Jerald (Castle), Scott Grimes (ER), Peter Macon (Shameless), J Lee (Family Guy), Halston Sage (Crisis) Set 300 years in the future, the hourlong dramedy follows the adventures of the Orville, a not-so-top-of-the-line exploratory ship in Earth’s interstellar Fleet. Facing cosmic challenges from without and within, this motley crew of space explorers will boldly go where no comedic drama has gone before.
  22. I hope MTM took solace and comfort in the innumerable women who admired her as a TV role model. Even though she had many, many high points and funny moments in her career as an actress, what I remember most is Oprah sobbing at the sight of her when she was a surprise guest. Her impact portraying a single professional working woman will be felt for a long time.
  23. Leah was on Adam Corolla's radio show yesterday; her segment starts around minute 38. She discusses season two and says (paraphrased) that she doesn't really want to go through that again because it was so emotionally wrenching. She said she might do more shows if she feels that it's not about her and that some ultimate good can come out of it. Mike answered another question on his blog about why the final episode featuring Leah's own story isn't being aired:
  24. I'm not familiar with Retta but the day drinking segment with her and Seth was awesome. I might be in love with her now. I wonder if Seth taped a show later -- that Walking Dead cocktail was a killer. Now I want Seth and Fred Armisen to start a regular musical improv bit with reimagined TV theme songs.
