I had many of the same thoughts, but hadn't posted them. To a great degree Roseanne and Darlene are/were their own worst enemies. Nothing about either is/was so endearing that other people should feel compelled to put up with their bad attitudes. Even Ben half-joked about Darlene's sour face. At least the adult version of Becky has cultivated some degree of people skills (as evidenced by wearing her mother's old jacket at the job interview), so she has a small measure of hope. Re: the Hair Salon - Roseanne seemed relatively happy there, but the Owner was elitist and always commented on Dan and Roseanne's weight issues, which was borderline inappropriate, IMO. Kind of depressing, isn't it? As a group, other than DJ, this family is worse off than when the original series ended. And now there's a next generation of grandchildren for the poverty and misery to trickle down to.

I don't usually watch reality shows, but you've piqued my interest. 🙂

I think it's sweet how she is genuinely thankful to the show for opening up her career in America (her view) and is very loyal to the show. You don't see that in a lot of performers. I believe that in real life Adele is probably very shy and likely has mild stage fright, like Carly Simon had back in the day. Could be that the swearing is a coping mechanism, she doesn't seem to do it during one-to-one interviews. She does seem genuinely sweet and humble, though. So true. I think she's a good singer but certainly not one of the best I've ever heard, so I've never understood all the worship. I've read that Adele has what people in the music industry call "that thing" in her voice; it's an element you really can't really qualify or quantify that only the greats (like Aretha Franklin or Barbara Streisand among female vocalists) have. For me, I don't think we can be sure until she starts taking some musical chances, like making a Country or Jazz CD.

What's bothering me very quickly is the righteous, moral indignation bubbling up in the Twitter-verse about the Africa sketch. I'm as left-leaning as they come, but give me a break. We intelligent adults (of all colors), know this to be true - some White women (divorced or not) travel to Africa and parts of the Caribbean primarily for one reason. Doesn't make it right or wrong, but we can have a little fun with it, yes?

Interesting episode overall, an improvement over last week's dumpster fire. Hadn't seen Adele in so long, I had almost forgotten how awesome she is. I always saw her as beautiful, but now she almost looks like a Bond Girl. Surprisingly great comedic acting chops (other than breaking in the Africa sketch, which I suspect had meaning to her). To me her cracking up during the Africa sketch (which some found offensive, although it's based in reality) was the highlight of this episode. I could see Adele carrying a sitcom much like Reba did. Didn't know much about H.E.R., but she was good, nice 90s style Neo-Soul.

There was never a chance Carly jr. was going to lose.

I watched the Season Premiere of The Goldbergs and noticed that Jeff did look somewhat smaller, but didn't notice the skin tone. It might be that whatever dietary changes the actors are making might not be the healthiest and it's showing in their skin.

When Carly advocated for Nell to be buried at Potter's Field a week or so ago, it struck a raw nerve for me. I've been to the RL Potter's Field in NYC (it's on Hart Island off the Bronx), and have a Cousin-in-Law buried there. It's off-limits to the general public except by special permission and you wouldn't want to bury a pet Hamster there. Here's a historical link for anyone interested: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hart_Island_(Bronx)

This may sound silly, but the sausage thing always made me nervous, part of me worried that JG might have swallowed the whole damn thing by accident and then needed the Heimlich maneuver. Although it is such a Dan Conner move, lol.

Getting to Genoa You All Over Again: Y&R Daily Chat

Kyle/Lola and Kyle/Dummer are just variations of "blech" to me. Besides being cute-ish and driven occupationally, Lola's got very little going for her, she's as joyless a character as has ever been seen on daytime. -
I'd rather not see Covid-storylines, but Roseanne as a show was always about topicality. I agree about John Goodman, he always seems to look tired these days. The "Wacky Jackie" persona wore thin even in the original's final seasons. Never sure why the show-runners felt it necessary. I really can't get into the "woe-is-me" attitude where Darlene and Becky are concerned. The two of them winding up like younger versions of Roseanne and Jackie was never a predetermined outcome. They have both made tons of bad decisions along the way, things go bad, and then they default to "oh we never had a chance to escape poverty" card. You could make the argument that the two of them are still making bad decisions, especially in Darlene's case.

For some reason this episode made me appreciate more how fortunate I am. Having been self-employed with a stable income base since way before the Pandemic, it barely touched me financially. You watch the news and hear about families struggling, but it's somehow different from watching it play out, even fictionally, on a day-to-day basis.

"Should have hit that until I broke it," you can always count on this show for great one-liners.

Getting to Genoa You All Over Again: Y&R Daily Chat

Yeah, not a good look at all. When Elena was rushing towards Nate, her boobies were going in several different directions, all at once. And from the back it seemed like she had a wedgie. If memory serves, wardrobe wasn't kind to the actress on her GH days either. Shame, such a pretty woman. -
That Bleh-inspiring hook-up (which we all saw coming) just underscores how limited Port Charles' options are for single males. Other than Amy 2.0 and Christina (who we never see anymore) it's slim pickings for the fellas.

The character as presented makes no sense at all. Initially she came in as Tracy 2.0, but that went out the window real fast. Tracy was crafty, cunning, and always had a game plan. BL? She has neither a pot nor a window, and if she can't sing, no discernible skills. All she does is alternately snark and glower at Papa Ned, and she doesn't even have a place of her own. As far as optics goes, the actress looks old enough to be Ned's wife instead of daughter. Good thing TIIC seem to be setting things up for a Valentin-BL pairing, I'll be able to FF through scenes even faster.

S46.E03: Issa Rae / Justin Bieber

Being a transplanted New Yorker now in the Garden State, there's nothing like a toasted Bialy with butter and jelly, washed down with a good Cup of Joe (Coffee, that is, not the former VP). -
S46.E03: Issa Rae / Justin Bieber

That had the potential to be the episode's highlight ("I can't tell if you've seen the show, or are just making stuff up" - damn hilarious!) Other than WU (and Che was indeed in top form), last night was, to quote Jake Tapper, "a hot mess, inside a dumpster fire, looking for a plane crash." I've been in love with Issa Rae for a while now. She's radiant, charming, with a delightful nervous energy. Plus she seems to be one of the few celebrities that would be fun to hang with IRL. But the writers didn't seem to have a clue on what to do with Issa, other than the "woke Black girl" trope that really didn't work here. -
Copy that! Even though LiLo has an incredible body, my thoughts were did no Mother would be comfortable in front of her adult son looking like that. In other news, Valentine is much more likeable outside of the orbit of the Filler/Botox Lady. He's no Stephan, but at least tolerable now. And it's helpful that Charlotte has for the most part disappeared.

You're absolutely right, and it's painful to watch. One of the great actors, Spencer Tracy I think, once said that the public isn't supposed to see you acting, which is exactly what we get from LWS. Hopefully, they will pair Maxie with someone decent after this loser. On a shallow male note, girl's been wearing those jeans over the past two days. Kirsten looks really healthy these days, happy for her.

All I know is...I now want an authentic Philly Cheese Steak with extra onions, mushrooms, a side of fries and an ice-cold Dr. Pepper. Man, the power of suggestion.

I think it was on the Pennsylvania side of some river...if only they weren't so vague about it so the viewers could follow along.😆

I've been following ER since her Y&R days and that was the best acting she's ever done IMO. Would be nice if she could sustain it, but we can't have nice things here. Cool to see some of my fellow old-timers excited about having Jackie Templeton back. The only thing better would have been to get Demi Moore back as the ultimate stunt casting. Anyone else remember when Jackie had a thing for Luke and he rejected her?
