  1. I'd be willing to believe that Ludo is not entirely hip to the history of the phrase, "white trash". At any rate, I don't think we should take his tv persona too seriously. (Same for Anthony). I never noticed this before, but it really stood out for me this time. Must be a New York thing. Nice! And good for her. She really does have hidden depths, I guess. I wish more shows would follow up with what people go on to do after the series is over. I'm sure Gabe & Ben will have good careers as well but I'd like to hear about them. I'd like to hear from Marcus & Tristan, too. This was the first time I watched the show. It was interesting. I plan to watch more if it's renewed.
  2. To reply to something in the article - Oh, that's always been the case on Top Chef. Nothing will get you eliminated faster than disrespecting your protein in front of Tom Colicchio. It's even worse than inappropriate salt levels. And really, at the kind of restaurants these guys are associated with, is it too much to ask that they not carbonize the seafood? George makes me tired, so I'm not sorry with the result, although Gregory is also working my nerves. I also thought it was sort of shady for Melissa to claim that she was helping Mei. I hope Mei kicks out the stops.
  3. I do hope they bring Lois back, too, even if Ve can make it more this season. No reason we can't have two female judges. I was not amused with them messing with the show's format but hopefully it will work out in the end. This show succeeds because it avoids reality show nonsense so it's worrisome to see it getting more game-showy.
  4. I loathed this. First off, to sell comedy, you have to play it straight. Here - There was too much winking along with the mugging. They all desperately wanted us to know that they were in on the joke. Secondly, there was not real bite to the humor. Mel Brooks and Monty Python are clever and funny because their humor is so sharp. This was just a random collection of gags. I won't harp on this because I don't want to bring everybody down but man, what a waste. Yeah, alright, I did like Vinny Jones.
  5. One day, for some reason, I found myself watching Ashley Judd on some afternoon talk show. She was making Southren-style biscuits, little baby ones that she was cutting out with a shot glass. And she got a bit tetchy because Production had given her a bottle of cream instead of the whole milk for which she had asked. She said, "Cream is for scones, not for biscuits". I think the idea was that whole milk or buttermilk are lighter because they have less butterfat than pure cream, so the biscuits turn out fluffier and cream makes scones denser. But I could be off. I've never baked a scone.
  6. Lovely show! I like watching Richard turn pink when they complement his biscuits but I was rooting for the George & Dragon. What was the terrible backlash against Ruby, last year? I like Martha!
  7. Congrats, Amy & Maya! I was rooting for the surfers but in the end I'm happy for the scientists. I have mad respect for Amy gutting it out and for Maya's enthusiasm and energy. I don't have a problem with Bethany's response to the fireman. Fans don't own celebrities. Meeting fans suddenly can be awkward for celebrities because they don't know what they might be asked to do. And every single time, the fan's "two minutes" ends up being ten or fifteen or more.
  8. She is amazing! I'm going to miss you, Dave! (And Paul!!)
  9. Love the Zeno family! I think the middle Gay Guy and the middle Elderly Dame should swap couches for one night, just for fun.
  10. I thought Grey Ants glasses are kind of boring. They're all from the Buddy Holly style, and that's not a huge market. Plus, they just got defensive when their ad was critiqued. I loved Wes' photo shoot with the chickens. I wouldn't have picked him for a farmboy. Ryan Roche's ad was stellar and could her family be anymore ridiculously photogenic? What beautiful photos. I also loved Orley's hip ads. I was kind of disappointed in Taylor, though. I hope she bounces back.
  11. Oh, Chris is leaving? There goes my last remaining bit of interest in this tired mess of a series.
  12. I thought Sean's collection was very studenty. The drippy red fringe for blood was ridiculously literal. And he kept saying things like "This is about the betrayal of Ceasar" followed by "I wanted to create a light and playful feeling". Becase that's totally how bretayal feels! I would have picked Amanda, because I thought her brand was more complete and can see where she wants to go with it. Still, Sean's a reasonable choice. I hope things work out for him. Kini - I hope he gets a hundred job offers out of this. I would hire him in a heartbeat. He would be a dream to work with. And I hope he gets over his denim obsession. I think if he'd used real fabric he'd have gotten a different response to his garments. Yes, it's amazing what he can do with denim - but it doesn't inspire people to think, "Oh I want to wear that." Char - good luck to her! She seems like a good person and I wish her success. I will -not- be watching the reunion.
  13. I don't understand why Lawrie and Squeaky Fromme there weren't arrested for smuggling drugs into the prison. And why wasn't the nurse arrested for giving Lawrie the cell phone? I get that once Lawrie's previous conviction was overturned he was free to leave his cell, but before that, regardless of the appeal, smuggling contraband in a prison is a crime in and of itself, isn't it? Even if his conviction was vacated, that wouldn't excuse other crimes - especially if drugs were involved.
  14. Poor Stella. I really liked her work over the course of the show. I get why she was sent home but I was rooting for her. Sculpted flames never really work for me. I didn't like them on the Apollo last week either. The thing about fire is that it's alive. It moves. Sculpted flames just look like a mask.
  15. I agree that this show is getting better each episode. Is this the first one where they didn't reference the DC team? I liked it overall. I like the new hacker guy in the robo-chair. And I liked Laurel, too. I thought her scenes with Bakula were some of the best this show has had. I do find the manic lab rat to be kind of hard to take. Now he's a conspiracy nut, too? Oy. I find Abby kind of a lot to swallow most of the time but at least the show knows who she is.
  16. Why would anyone want a Roman and a Persian fighting over their ass crack? I wish they would let the canvases explain themselves, just for curiousity sake. It just seems so random. I mean, I don't care. It's not a problem or anything. There's nothing wrong with it - I just wonder why.
  17. Whenever Emily talks, I think of this scene from Auntie Mame: "And I stepped on the ball! Well, it was GHASTLY. Just Ghastly!"
  18. Well shut my mouth! Sasha's porcelain clown doll was astonishingly perfect. The conept was very smart and the whole execution was just so tight. I'm so glad it won. Very well deserved!
  19. Remember - it's not Wayne Manor. It's Stately Wayne Manor. I don't really care about any of this except Donal Logue and Sean Pertwee, but I thought it was an enjoyable hour of television. I'll keep watching.
  20. Well, you like what you you like, and that's your business. You're not wrong for liking what you like. The heart wants what it wants, right? What I'm saying is that Season 1, 2 & 3 all had finales that screwed over the viewers' emotions. It shouldn't be a surprise that Season 4 finale also screws over the viewers' feelings about the characters. It's what the show has been doing from Day 1.
  21. Honestly, I can't understand how anyone could watch the first season and not see this disaster coming with its highbeams on. Of course they fucked up the Holder-Linden dynamic because fucking things up is what the show is mainly about. Oh sure - great acting, interesting characters, moody lighting. But fundamentally, a rotten show about taking all those things and ruining them, one by one.
  22. It's so sad to watch this show on the same night as Face Off. I'm interested in seeing people do things I don't know how to do - like be a chef or groom dogs or do movie makeup or detail cars. I would be interested in watching a show about great tattoo artists doing great tattoos. It's sad that, with real artists on the staff, instead this wants to be a show about bullshit artists and their petty bickering.
  23. Just when you think this show can't get any better, Glenn turns out to be secret kitty lover! Really excellent work from everyone involved. It was fun seeing the brute squad of former contestants, as Monty put it. I liked hearing that they were working on some major projects. And I loved seeing the judges strut their stuff while still keeping the terrific Face Off mix of creativity and good vibes. Best reality show ever!
  24. Jason needed to go. He walked out the door still not understanding what he did wrong. But I would have been happier if they'd sent Sasha home, too. What a useless woman. Thank goodness the rest of the ladies are making some proper noise. I like George a lot, too, "Making Witches".
  25. Seriously. If you're a dance show - why even bother with a Michael Jackson night if you're not going to do Thriller? I'm not really a Michael Jackson fan but I figured that at least we might see some good numbers. I'm just mystified at how blah this whole season has been.
