I am only on ep 2 and oh my lands Michael Yo is freaking attractive. I used to love him on Chelsea Lately although both he and Chelsea didn't seem to love him there---he never seemed mean enough to be there--but this is the first time I've seen him since then. Beautiful. Just a lot of pretty all over his face

I'm watching the ep where Bones identifies her mother's bones. And I think I'm officially dropping it. I feel no sympathy for this woman AT ALL. For the last few eps especially she's Ben particularly AWFUL. And instead of feeling any sort of sympathy for her during this whole thing all I can think is: why on earth should everyone or anyone tiptoe around her feelings when she doesn't bother to treat anyone else with the same dignity? So...I'm done.

They didn't They didn't use Goodman anywhere near as much or as effectively as they used Cam. I'm watching the episode where Booths boss/friend/colleagues s daughter had a bone graft from a person with cancer and made everyone else sick. Bones consistently refers to the girl as the body. In front of the girl. In front of her parents. In front of Booth. It honestly didn't matter to her how many times Booth told her to knock it off she kept doing it. She kept referring to her as if she were already dead. Who DOES that? She's a genius and I guess that gives her a pass from being human.

When I started this rewatch I was planning on watching to the end. I never made it to Booth and Bones hooking up. I was looking forward to it. Now, I think I'll make it to the end of season 1 and drop it again. I really don't like any of the characters except for Goodman, Angela and Zack. Sometimes Hodgins. But I cannot stand Brennan and Booth. I think they are both serious assholes. I don't suppose Dr. Sweets makes it to season one does he? I really liked him.

I want to like this so much more than I actually do. But I'm going to keep on watching because I like the cast. So. There we are.

It's crazy how tastes change. When this TV show came out I was *obsessed* with Zack (and Dr. Spencer Reid from Criminal Minds. MGG will forever be yowza). As time went on Hodgins was my eye candy. Now I canNOT take my eyes off Dr. Goodman. He's yummy.

I really love how excited the teams are to watch everyone else's topples. They all seem SO in to it. Jumping around pointing at stuff, groaning when things don't, commiserating with one another when tricks don't pan out. It's just plain fun. I think these last two eps have no done a better job of showing teams practicing or talking through. Eric Stonestreet doesn't bother me. Mainly because I'm doing other things when he's on!

Ok. I watched this for the first few seasons and then stopped. I'm rewatching it now. The only things I remember is: 1. Zack telling Hodgins and someone else to put them on the table and measure. While being confused and not knowing what they were measuring. 2. Zack breaking into song. 3. Zack randomly becoming a serial killer. Or in league with a serial killer. 4. The merry go round of assistants after Zack left. 5. Being incredibly irritated with what Bones was supposed to know/not know. Her parents disappeared when she was 15. She presumably had a normal life up until then. Some of the things that they had her do/know/not know just didn't make sense. 6. When Cam (I think that's her name ) comes and they specifically say she's there because Bones and the rest of the squints don't communicate well with outsiders and then a few eps in they have Cam complaining that she's not good with people. Then lady why are you here?! Ok that's all I remember but I've watched the first few eps and I like it.

I guess that's better than falling off a cliff. Where would they even find a cliff? And I guess Barbara doesn't want her mean daughter falling off a cliff.
-
Soooooo....there was no mention of Taylor in this episode which, whatever, relationships aren't mentioned in each ep. But Gregory was giving some major gooey eyes to Janine. Which the custodian found very interesting. Because Taylor has fallen off a cliff?

I don't recall from this miniseries--do they have Mose saying there he is? I know that I was personally impressed with the dignity that Glynn imbued him with and I loved how they showed Mamie angry with him---shes not (or hasn't been) a Mississippi southern girl for years. There's knowing how they act in your head and then seeing it for yourself and being reminded of what it was really like for Mose. That was beautifully executed. But I really thought---whatever the dialogue Glynn played him so very respectfully.
-
Did you finish Simeons Story? I would love to know more about Mose and what happened to them after the trial.

Im watching this series now and have basically cried the whole time. Except for when I was physically sickened that I threw up. I hate everyone. Why were people like this? Why are people like this still? And that bitch. I hope she has nightmares about Emmett every night for the rest of her life. I hope shes never had a nights peace or a moment of happiness without Emmets face in front of her. Without Mamies face in front of her. My heart broke for Mose just all threw the episodes. I think the series has done an amazing job. I had a rumbling of anger towards him like Mamie did. But after spending some time in Jim Crows South with her...well, he had no choice. All hes ever tried to do was keep himself and his family safe. And that was a damn hard thing to do in that day and age in the south. Glynn is killing it trying to give this man dignity. He deserves it. Also have I mentioned how very much I hate that bitch? I want all of her kids and grandkids to have interracial relationships and for them to ignore her for the rest of her life. Except maybe to read twitter messages to her about how much the world hates her. Hes a CHILD. Hes a child. And even if he grabbed her hand, patted her ass, or spit in her face and called her bitch he did not deserve to die. He died for existing in the same space as a white woman. Who did NOTHING to her. Shes a liar and hopefully one day shell answer for what shes done. Eta: black men are called boys. But a black child is called a man. So that an evil white bitch can pretend she was scared of him. You guys. Seriously. Lets just burn the entire world to the ground.

I know I dont want to sit and watch people do math or whatever but I have questions! Im watching the holidays ep now and one team had stones or pebbles or whatever falling into something else to trigger a reaction--how did they know how many to use? This is my question about all of these chain reactions. They cant practice it. Are they guessing? Is math secretly interesting? I get they dont want to show people systematically placing thousands of dominos but it would be cool to talk about how some of this stuff happens. Maybe some small scale dry runs or however the heck they figure stuff out. I felt bad for the New Years team though. Especially the woman. Her team wasnt listening when she was trying to get them on task and she didnt seem to have a forceful enough personality to make them hear her.

I really like this commercial for a car? Maybe? I dont care. But it gets played incessantly and I dont even care! It makes me smile every time. Four guys are dancing around, put their luggage in the back of the car, the driver tosses a grin at the camera and then everyone is in the car bouncing and they stop to pick up a woman and she has a dimple and everyone is just so dang happy. No clue what they want me to buy or why these super happy people would inspire me to do it (are they included with purchase? I want to be friends with them. If I buy whatever will I suddenly become friends with people like them? Commercial!). But. I love it. Every time I see it. Which is a lot.

Yeah, the kids are written as adults in kids bodies. But the adults are awful humans. My first, very first thought when Graham punched Owen was where was this energy when he was fighting the twins? They did calm down by the end of the season but towards the beginning there? I would have loved to see those tiny, adorable little girls punched in the head. I understand if that makes me a horrible person.
-
Ok, Ive been binge watching this show and reading along with the boards as I watch. Im really enjoying it but...the kids. You guys. The kids. This is not how kids act. This is not how kids speak. Im a children's librarian. I know a lot of kids. Even my brightest kiddos who are reading at 10th and higher grade levels dont have the maturity to a. understand the context and content of 10th grade level materials. And b. they arent able to discuss things that they read on that level. What I think this show isnt understanding is just because a child can discuss something doesnt mean they SHOULD. I dont know what the episode is but this is something they seem to be doing a lot with Sophie. I just watched the ep where Poppy had a crush on the horrible singer and she was gushing about it with Sophie. Just because she can understand the words doesnt mean she's ready for the emotional weight of dealing with a full grown womans crush and disappointment. But in general the kids are just too much.

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage
hiisa replied to Maverick's topic in Commercials
Yall. I hate the drive time commercials. Every time I see them I want to throw things at the redhead. All of them irritate but in particular I *hate* with all of the passion and energy that I have inside of me the one where the redheaded is telling a customer that he can get his downpayment quote and the black guy keeps interrupting that you can get your monthly payment as well. She *annoys me* so very much. I would think considering that your monthly payment is something that is going to be a part of your life budget for a few years is just as important--if not more so--than the downpayment but the redhead keeps cutting dude off and getting attitude which makes him get attitude and both of them need to shut up forever. Also. The Folgers commercial. Isnt the whole point of a brand the reputation? So the song lyric, "I dont give a damn about my reputation!" I always find myself thinking....but...shouldnt you, though? Isnt that the point? I guess its supposed to be the woman whos buying the coffee in spite of the judgy eyes and *she* doesnt care about her rep, shes going to drink all of this coffee anyway! But even that doesnt say anything good for the brand. And again...isnt that the point? -

How I Met Your Father - General Discussion
hiisa replied to BetterButter's topic in How I Met Your Father
I just want to say this: I *HATE* Piz. So when Jesse and Hilary Duffs character (whos name just ran away from me) kissed my knee jerk reaction was: classic Piz. Going after a girl whos dating someone else. Classic "nice guy". I dont think the Charlie is a particularly good actor but I did find the old heartstrings were tugged when no one was interested in watching soccer with him and he told Val that hes homesick. I like Drew. I dont like him with Sophie. Can he be a part of the gang? Even though there are already too many members in the gang? I feel like they need a grownup friend. Also. Count me in as someone who really liked Ted. And while Im spouting unpopular opinions (this has nothing to do with anything but ....) I hated Prue from original Charmed and loved Phoebe. I know it has nothing to do with this show but admitting that I liked Ted Mosby is making me bold. -
I was prepared not to like this episode when they started without the theme song which has been my favorite part of each episode but no. I liked it as much as Ive liked each other episode. It was pleasant. I hope Noahs new girl sticks around. Shes GORGEOUS. And Ive been shipping Fay and Anthony since the hike so, Im here for it. Whenever it happens.

Oh my gosh Anna please never write a book. Or ghost write it. She is SO WHINEY. Blah blah blah I didnt even do anything! Blah blah blah Im the only woman in the WHOLE PRISON guys! Even now shes still not owning up to what she did. She'll say in one sentence that shes being judged forever for what she did in her early 20s and immediately follow that up with she didn't really even do anything. Yuck. Shes just so yuck.
-
Ok I really want to know this: Does Anna speak 7 languages or freaking not?! They mentioned it in the first episode and its dropped and Ive been wanting to know ever sense, dang it. Ive thought all series long that this series was bending over backwards to make Anna sympathetic (but with the obsessed Neff and Jess and Anna herself as executive producers who can be surprised by that?) but these last two eps were just TOO MUCH. All along the series there was this weird underlying vibe that we should root for Anna because shes a woman and shes young and men who do the same things dont have consequences so why should she? Everyone should have consequences when they break the law! Anna should have consequences for breaking the law! I know she spent a few years in prison and shes in ICE detainment now but when Vivi was all but *sobbing* that Anna was having her bright future stolen from her---NO! No. She stole from other people. She is a criminal. I dont think Anna was guilty in the Rachel case either. She had ample opportunity to leave and decided not to. But watching Neff and Vivi giggle at her and watching Anna smirk at her as she was falling apart on the stand as Todd was taking her apart didnt sit well with me. Watching Vivi and Todd clink glasses at what a great job he did breaking her didnt sit well with me. They are both so quick to call Anna this little girl but isnt Rachel supposed to be around the same age? And even if Anna isnt guilty of ripping off Rachel shes guilty of ripping off a whole lot of other people. Now I need to find some less biased and waaaaaay more objective docs on this psycho. I really dont get Vivi though. I really dont. She knows more about Anna than probably anyone. She talked to so many people off the record and she still fell into the web. Is it wrong that I hope Anna got punched by someone--anyone!--at least once. And finally, I loved Val.
