I watched the ep where Suzanne randomly (so completely randomly) fosters a little Vietnamese girl who is waiting to get adopted and y'all I dont know what flew in my eye and died there but I was absolutely tearing up that episode. When Suzanne called Julia and said she didn't want to give her back? And she told Julia that Li asking was the only person who ever loved her for her? And Julia said no, their mother and Julia (and I would add Julia's son) all loved Suzanne. But when little Li Sing was going away with her new family (who totally seemed like creepy baby collectors) and she told them that she could sing and sang Oh Susannah? I cried tears!

Oh why do they do that? So annoying! Also, my introduction to Designing Women was Nick at Nite when I was a kid. I may have watched an EP here or there with my mom when it first came out but mostly, Nick at Nite. When JD said he was a 34 year old man I nearly fell out of my dang chair! I always thought they were so old! Now, watching this as a 39 year old woman I'm like...something changed between the way they adult and the way I adult. Something.... significant!

Im rewatching Designing Women and I'm in Season 1. JD is kinda pushy. The first night he goes on a date with a Mary Jo he pushed for sex, she said no and he storms off. A handful of eps later Mary Jo and JD have been dating for 3 months--hes the first man she's dated since Ted and she's not ready. He tells her he's 34 and he's not gonna sit around waiting and holding hands and taking cold showers. But his mean ex just came down last episode demanding Mary Jo step aside because they are getting back together! Why would she be eager to jump into bed with him? I still love Julia Sugarbaker. Goodness I wish I could be like her. In this episode she just gave Charlene's doctor quite a set down. The girls encouraged Charlene to get a second opinion when her doctor was dismissive of a lump she found in her breast and then dropped her as a patient when she pursued a second opinion.

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage
hiisa replied to Maverick's topic in Commercials
Hate the carvana lady. I hate her. She fills my heart and my very soul with rage. If I could kick her I would. I very much would. Also. The Lume commercial where she's literally sniffing people's butts and crotches during yoga? My GOSH, LADY! When you are that close to peoples no no zones you're typically all distracted by sexy good times. If you are not down there for sexy good times kindly remove yo' face from people's AREAS. I very much needed to get that off my chest. I feel better now. Also I hate Jo. And her friends. And her family. And the cranky coworker who hates everyone. I may be a cranky coworker who hates everyone and I'm cool with that. I dont need to see some version of me with vocal fry hawking insurance. Kindly, can your 15 minutes/commercial fame be UP?! Please?! Who do I have to beg? -
The Keaton/Alexis dance was simply stunning. But there's something about her I just don't like. I'd say arrogance maybe but I think when you're *that. good* a level of arrogance is to be expected? I dunno. I loved that dance. I'm glad Essence was saved. She remains my favorite. Leah Remini is me trying to explain what I liked about a dance. "And then you did the thing! The thing with the spinning and the (clicks tongue and imitates spinning) Go to someone else. I give up. SO GOOD." Except that I'm not on a dancing competition judging people. I feel like in the first one or two dances she heard tWitch or JoJo saying something about "connecting" and she latched onto it as something she can look for without knowing diddly squat about dance.

You're right. Being unreachable for a few hours is normal for normal people. I was looking at it through a normal people lense. Nooot what we're dealing with here.

I was watching People Puzzler--I love Leah as the host there and think she does a fabulous job--and one of the contestants started doing a few silly dances and Leah started dancing with him (she covers her nose whenever she laughs. It's a weird little quirk.) and all I could think is this lady who isn't even doing a great job at this "picking up the change" dance is going to be judging dancers. Like real dancers who have been training for years, waiting and training their whole lives for this moment. That seems wrong.

I'm only just now watching this and, well, obviously Chris is evil. But I have two (incredibly petty) questions. 1. The friend dropped Shanann off at 2 in the morning and called the police the next day because she couldn't get ahold of her. That seems SO SOON to me. Why was she over there? How did she know Shanann didn't go to the doctors appointment? 2. They always mimicked Shannan typing her texts to whoever, and backspacing and fixing typos. Why did they do that? They didn't do that with any of the other texts on screen. So strange. And finally, not a question but a peeve. Shanann seriously, seriously abused her ! button.

S17.E04: The Big Cut -- Choreography Round
hiisa replied to jewel21's topic in So You Think You Can Dance
The only dancer who's name I know is Essence and that is because I already *adore* her. She is just fun to watch. I think the dancers who danced for her life that they ultimately dumped was Brianna? Essence and Brianna gave me my favorite moment of the entire episode! They were doing the first round of choreo and Essence turned and engaged with her and her entire face was screaming, "this is so much fun! Aren't you having fun?" and Brianna picked up on it and in there moment seemed to find the fun in the moment. All throughout the performances tonight everytime I saw her that seems to be how she was engaging with all of the other dancers. -
Im a great admirer of dancers as well! That doesn't mean diddly squat! What does that even mean?! In my it means I can point at someone that we know is a great dancers and say hey! That's a great dancer! I can also point at someone who is it a great dancer and say I can't do that! You must be a great dancer!
-
I mean....I adore Leah. I think she's a hoot and a half but ...does she dance? They couldn't have found a choreographer who used to work for the show or another winner like tWitch? As much as I love Leah if given a solid 5 hours to think up things about her I'm not sure dance would ever find it's way on the list. I hope this doesn't effect People Puzzler. I freaking love that show.

Ok, I agree with everyone saying Mary the PI. needs her own show. With her tiny frog sidekick. Mary: so, going down the list of what makes a cult a cult....you're totally a cult dude. Teal: that pisses me off. Me:.....then don't be a cult anymore? I dunno. Seems pretty clear cut to me. Oh my gosh the way she treats Juliana and Blake this episode is insane. I keep thinking about when Blake tells Teal that he's marrying Juliana and Teal stretches out on the bed, "do you still want to f*ck me?" and then this episode she keeps.telling him he'll never be a match for greatness (her) because he's weak. But Teal...he doesn't want your brand of greatness anymore? The "meeting" with Juliana was so freaking messed up though! The way no one was looking at her as they accused her of all of this crap towards Teal. They were all looking at Teal, reading Teal to see if this is what she wants and Teals smirk when she says Juliana should be afraid? Maaaaaaan. I kept thinking about how the signs of a cult list where like you can't have relationships outside of the cult leader and Teal is all, "that's not me!" But also watch me turn this entire house against Juliana right quick! And then the whole scene about how you have to be aligned with her house (and her YouTube video where she says everyone lives in their own homes) followed by Blake dramatically packing all of his stuff and moving out and having fish funerals. It's all so.awful and MEAN. Yall it's just all so mean. Meanwhile Teal is standing there smirking at everyone in the background looking like a legit cartoon villain. Crying that she's being abandoned. Mattias..how are you going to fix it, buddy? She literally makes my skin crawl and now I need more. Where are the podcasts about this lunatic? I'm glad that Blake got to sit and read all of this love and support flooding the page for *him* (as Teal sits there pouting that MEN are applauding Blake "abandoning" her. Child. Please.
-
At first I thought the families of one of the suicide victims and then she (or Blake?) said she hired the P.I to prove she wasn't a cult and it was like....girl....shouldn't you be able to. I'm sorry, what? If you can't provide your own evidence to interested parties that you are indeed not a cult then you know what? Maybe you are. All I know is they ended the first ep with her saying she had more spiritual importance than the Pope and I thought to myself, whooweee child we've got a live one here.
-
Y'all. Seriously. Since episode one I have come here like, why is no one talking about this but all?! So I'm glad this forum has been made because OH MY GOSH. Seriously. What on earth?! I can't even tell you what Teal believes or why people are steadily forking over big bucks to her (5k a SESSION?!) because nothing makes sense here. Did y'all know that every week she does a YouTube video disputing everything the docuseries says? It's all 20 minutes of "it was edited to make me look bad!!!" I don't know if Teal is a cult. But she gives off seriously bad vibes.

Punky Power!: Punky Brewster in the Media
hiisa replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Punky Brewster (2020)
This is me and Robert Downey Jr! It's a one sided grudge that goes deep. RDJ was supposed to be Ally McBeals happily ever after. But he got in trouble with drugs and wrote him off and instead of a happy Ally we got that very weird last season. Nothing to do with Punky but your grudge spoke to mine. Every single time I see him doing well in life or in a clickbait article about being down on his luck to iron man or whatever superhero he plays I get cranky as heck. -
TDS 3.0: Season Seven Talk
hiisa replied to possibilities's topic in The Daily Show With Trevor Noah (2015-2022)
I wonder if he reads every book that is promoted on the show, and if so how long before they appear. He always seems like he's read whats being promoted but...he's good at his job. Someone on staff who's familiar with his pov could have written him really good notes. I wonder that every time an author comes on with a book to push, especially when he has multiple authors a week. Has Trevor mentioned the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard trial and verdict? I know there was a throwaway line about the verdict coming up a few days ago but I don't remember Trevor talking about it at all. I don't know why I expect him to or want him to but here I am. -
TDS 3.0: Season Seven Talk
hiisa replied to possibilities's topic in The Daily Show With Trevor Noah (2015-2022)
Kellyanne is just slimy. Every sentence out of her mouth was double speak. It was actually hard to keep up with what she was saying because she was so busy saying nothing. Trevor asked her a yes or no question "is what you said different from what Trump said" and she couldn't fix her face to say it. It felt like she was prepping for a president run of her own. -
I very much wish they would stop cutting to the judges reaction faces every 3 seconds. I can *hear* JoJos HEY! and Matthews Wows! What I can't hear is the dancers. I actually need to see them dance. Cause it's dance.

So I'm way late to the game but I've been bingeing and I have questions. Y'all. I just don't *get* scientology. Like I really and truly don't. Looney Pants and friends are legitimately mustache twirling villains. They are cartoon evil, tying damsels to train tracks and they aren't trying to hide ANY of it. It's all right there in the writing. "This is CLEARLY BS align yourself with legit people so that we look legit too!" Insert evil laugh here. How is this not ....I don't know....some massive Punk'd episode and early 2000s Ashton Kutcher is gonna pop up shooting finger guns and laughing?

I've been watching the Mystery 101 marathon today and every commercial break has an ad for a Hallmark romcom where some tiny blond fitness trainer is calling some Hollywood actor fat and then they fall in love. It feels like it should be a mystery though. As in it's a mystery something so awful was made. I dunno. Maybe it'll be good. I have no intention of watching it because I 100% with all of my heart hate the woman. " maybe you *used* to be fit but now...." girl get off my TV before a house falls on you. Or a fat person.
-
I think this episode they forgot to add the funny parts? Or the funny parts got left on the cutting room floor? Either way it was not good and boring. Although I loved Phil's, "I hate cats!"

I'm watching one of the Emma Fielding Mysteries (the tree frog one) and there are two things that I'm finding super irritating tonight. I've watched all of these time and again and this has never bothered me before but tonight: gah!! When the cast is walking together from one place to the next they always stare directly ahead. Even when they are talking to each other. Eyes straight ahead, maybe off to the side so that they aren't staring directly at the camera but never looking at each other. Personally, when I'm walking and talking to someone I mostly look at who I'm talking to while glancing in front of me to make sure I'm not about to fall. This staring straight ahead seems so unnatural. It's happened in 3 different scenes now! And that leads me to 2. Everyone's eyes are so wide! It's actually kind of creepy. Like someone took a melon ball and scooped out any excess flesh around their eyes.

I just binged this and I liked it. I like Joel. He was a fun host. Also, I agree with everyone who *did* like Thomas. I thought he seemed like a normal, competitive person playing a game. He wasn't mean to the competition that we saw, he just talked smack to his partner/mom. It didn't seem mean spirited to me. Or at least no more mean spirited than me sitting on my couch going, "oooooooh! They didn't use chocolate/mango/whatever....!!" I loved how much fun he and his mom seemed to be having. And they did seem to be having fun.

I thought this ep was funny. I would think though, that kids like that--hyper competitive, super accomplished---would know more than to expect internet tomorrow. I wonder if they were just hyped up on Arpis energy or if they really thought and were then disappointed and how little change they effected.

The more I watch the less I like Kramer. I remember my dad loving this show when I was a kid and I didn't find it funny at all. I didn't like it until I made it to high school and started catching repeats in syndication and found it hysterical. I used to watch it with my dad in the evenings and we would crack up and then Michael Richards had his racist tirade. I stopped watching Seinfeld all together. And then I watched and skipped all of his scenes. It's only in the last couple of years that I've been watching without skipping and only in the past week or so that I've been bingeing the whole series and I really can't stand Kramer. I don't get why anyone is friends with him. Especially Jerry. I just finished the episode about the keys. Jerry comes home with a date early from the movies. Kramer is in Jerry's house half naked with a date of his own and has the nerve to get mad at Jerry when Jerry demands his spare key back and then he practically has to beg Kramer to take the keys again. What a pill.
