  1. Valerie Wolzien was a cozy mystery writer I got into years ago and then lost interest when I moved past the cozy mysteries genre. Anyway I came across her Susan Henshaw mysteries for free on kindle unlimited and decided to give them another look. Well I'm half way through the first one Murder at a PTA Luncheon and I am really enjoying it. Dated, for sure, but I can see why I liked her books back in the day.
  2. The meal selection that always stood out for me was the tomato slices in cream. I mean I do get that technically tomato is a fruit (I've certainly had enough people tell me this over the years - talk about parading your little bit of knowledge!!) but even so I cannot even imagine what tomatoes in cream would taste like - and I am not planning to try them out to find out.
  3. Did that coincide with Fonzie starting to teach at the high school because that was my real jump the shark moment when I look back on the show. I totally get they had to have him grow up - it would have been downright creepy to have this 30 yr old guy still hanging around chasing high school girls - but even so Happy Days was over at that point.
  4. Exactly. Do those who want a Meg clone on the show realize what they are asking for? Not a conservative voice but a nasty, immature purveyor of lies. Is that really the face they want for that conservative voice?
  5. She reminds me of my FIL - never happier than when he was miserable. And making everyone else around him miserable.
  6. I loathe Ann Coulter and feel a little less respect for Joy now that I know they are friends. If Coulter's saying the things she does to shock and not because she genuinely believes them then her being on The View is no better then McCain. Maybe even worse. Give MM her due, I think she actually believes most of the crap she spews.
  7. I agree. A lot of people with some minor claim to fame and a twitter account post about their political leanings but they don't get the attention McCain does. I suspect that will be her fate as well. May take a few months for the media to stop paying attention of course but it will happen.
  8. Not a series but an episode - the discussion about the new Matt Damon movie triggered a memory of a show I saw that loosely used the Amanda Knox story as the premise but in my memory of this they twisted it at the end and she was guilty. If pressed I'd guess this might have been from Law and Order since they were known for their "ripped from the headlines" stories. Does anyone remember this? (BTW not the more recent SVU episode - I never saw that but just read about it in my searching)
  9. I'd love it if one of the other women on the show brings this up tomorrow. Ask Meghan why she holds a grudge when clearly he doesn't. This just makes her look even smaller and pettier than she already did - who thought that was even possible?
  10. I wondered how MM would respond - and we all knew she would respond. Nice try Meghan but no one is buying this. You didn't have a problem appearing on the show with Mary Trump the last time. Her comment got under that thin skin of yours but good. You really are a coward and you know it.
  11. I've never been sure about her. In some ways I feel like she got away with murder. I'd wonder why she felt the need to speak up - this is hardly the first time a movie has been made on a similar theme.
  12. My niece is a nurse - she has said that the one thing that convinced her to never get a tattoo was seeing how they looked on elderly patients. Not nearly as cool as they once did I guess!
  13. When watching old movies or TV shows I sometimes go down the wiki rabbithole looking up the stars. It's sad, but not surprising how many died of cancer, often lung cancer, at relatively young ages. And not every one was a smoker but they all grew up in an era where almost everyone not only smoked but smoked constantly and everywhere.
  14. Surely you are aware that the world revolves around MM? The only issue anyone has is whether she likes them or not I wish I were joking.
  15. Not sure if this is the right place for this but the new Ghostbusters movie will be released soon and Annie Potts will be reprising her role as Janine Melnitz and McKenna Grace, who plays Paige. has a starring role. I wonder if they will do a Ghostbusters reference in YS just for fun.
  16. I have hand sanitizer in my foyer - used to have clorox wipes and disposable masks as well -but I've calmed down a little, A little.
  17. I've been contacting various retirement communities to find a place for my parents (Dad isn't thrilled with the one my mother is in right now) and it's depressing (a) how much it costs! and (b) how many things are wrong health wise for my mother. I am aware of them, of course, but when I have to specifically enumerate all the things they'd need to be able to deal with, well, wow. It's hard to reconcile this with the bright, vibrant woman my mother still is - well most of the time. They tell you getting old isn't for sissies, and man, they're not kidding.
  18. I just checked it out on Amazon. The reviews I saw were interesting - people desperately wanting to like the book because it is telling them what they want to hear but these same people being honest enough to say it was badly written with tons of grammatical and spelling errors. Sounds like exactly the kind of book MM would like.
  19. I always skip MM but I admit my curiosity has been piqued. Which books did she endorse?
  20. Saw the Christmas in Evergreen movies this week - I liked them but so many plot holes (what? stories that don't make sense on Hallmark? who knew?) But the one thing that I find so dumb, frankly, is in the first movie where the little girl keeps making it abundantly clear that she does not want a Florida Christmas and all the adults around her just keep smiling and ignoring what she is saying because it doesn't fit with what they want for her.
  21. Ok just finished watching Christmas in Angel Falls. It was sugary and predictable and corny and I still loved it! Good acting will do that for a film I guess. This one may not go into endless rotation but I'm glad I watched. Definitely the right feel good movie for the mood I was in today/
  22. Everything I read about this pinged my "not believable meter". Not every accuser is a victim.
  23. I'd be fine with a conservative who isn't a hater. They are out there and if The View could just find a well spoken conservative who isn't doing her research on Fox news I think that could add to the show. But I agree completely that politics as politics should only be a small part of the show in the first place.
  24. Same. But then I wonder about that with at least 90% of the stuff celebrities talk about!
