  1. Saw one or two Laverne and Shirley's after the move and that was it for me. As for Archie Bunker - killing off Edith???? Nope, I was out.
  2. I'm sure there were other shows that are guilty of this, but Happy Days is the first one I remember, where they kept the show going long long past it's Best By Date when they really should have pulled the plug. Beginning with Happy Days there are too many shows where I won't even watch the last few painful years. I like to stop where I think the show should have stopped.
  3. I used to brace myself whenever shows were cut into with "breaking news" now I just get annoyed that my show has been interrupted as 9 times out of 10 it's not breaking news at all!
  4. Window Wonderland is coming up on Saturday night. Doing a happy dance here. Now if some channel would just show 12 Dates of Christmas (not to be confused with On the Twelfth Day of Christmas or On the 12th Date of Christmas) that would help get me through this pandemic Christmas nicely thank you.
  5. I saw this one yesterday and really enjoyed it. My benchmark for if a Hallmark Christmas movie is actually good is if I'd watch it again - and especially if I'd watch it outside the Christmas season. This one worked for me. I saw another one yesterday as well that I had PVR'd and I can't even remember offhand now which one it was! I'm guessing it did not make much of an impression!
  6. I always thought McCain had married before Cindy and that she was Meghan's step-mother. Not that step-mothers can't be close to the kids (if Hallmark movies have taught me nothing else they've taught me this) but aside from that Meghan has always seemed to me to be distant from her mother and from her other siblings. That may be my perception and not an accurate one.
  7. I honestly thought that was a Borat type joke, not that it had actually happened!
  8. I don't care if she's critical - as long as it's constructive (ok not going to happen).
  9. That absolutely never occurred to me! I always wondered why characters on TV shows had a table full of Chinese food in cartons and everyone seemed to eat individual items instead of spreading the food around like most people would do, I am now having a "duh" moment 🙃.
  10. Sing it! I just watched A Chateau Christmas - which while not great did have two excellent leads and I loved that the ending did NOT have the heroine give up her big career for small town living - anyway I wondered about a few details as I watched and googled. Got Christmas at the Chateau by mistake and was totally and completely confused for a while there!
  11. You worded this better than I could have. This is the big difference, I don't recall any of the women on The View ever saying Trump didn't win - they just wished that he hadn't.
  12. I knew she was a troubled soul but had no idea how troubled! I really do have to stop doing this too though. I read this light hearted autobiograhy or a happy families memoir then I can't leave it alone I have to go looking for the real story behind the story. With very few exceptions I end up depressed. Someday someone will probably do a biog about Karen Killilea that will make for grim reading (I hope not but I am betting it will).
  13. It will be interesting if the show stays on long enough to see if the two child leads end up as tall as their counterparts on BBT. Generally girls get their full growth earlier than boys so it's not surprising that "Missie" is looking older right now but, at least in the fictional Cooper world, eventually Sheldon will catch up.
  14. It can happen that way. I lost my sister to cancer and up until the very last week I think a ot of people would not have known how sick she was. Then it hit like hell and was over (in some ways thankfully) very quickly. I hope this was the case for Mr Trebek as well. That he went quickly and peacefully.
  15. I couldn't believe it when this popped up on my newsfeed. Thought it was someone's idea of a bad joke and was mad about that. Now I wish it had just been that bad joke. Such incredibly sad news.
  16. Speaking of school - if you are a parent of school age children and you are shown to be involved in their school you are almost always heading up some committee or another or directing the school play or fundraising for the library or whatever - to the point where the success of whatever they're doing rises and falls with you. Because all you need to do at most schools to be the One In Charge is to just show up.
  17. I just finished a biography of a favourite writer of mine, Betty MacDonald (mostly known as the author of The Egg and I). It was good but I wish I hadn't read it now. MacDonald basically had a tough life for 42 years then had 8 years of fame - and still had some tough times - and then died of cancer at 50. I knew there was "more to the story" than her light hearted memoirs but dammit I didn't need depressing this week! Betty: The Story of Betty MacDonald
  18. I'm sure this has been mentioned before but I'm noticing it a lot more lately with the run of Christmas movies - but the way people order coffee (or hot chocolate of course in the Xmas movies) and then NEVER drink them. Food is the same. Full plates of food just left on the table. I get that they don't want people eating but why have them in restaurants with the food delivered to the table and they immediately leap up , rush out and get on with their busy life? So annoying!
  19. I am watching Sense and Sensibility and Snowmen and actually really enjoying it, but, and it's a big but - who the hell was in charge of make-up? Both of the lead actresses are very attractive women but the make-up treatment they have received (so far at least) are doing them no favours! I've noticed this in other Hallmark movies as well, not the make-up itself so much as incredibly ridiculous eye lashes that make it seem like Christmas in Hollywood not Christmas in small town USA.
  20. In the premiere of YS this season they reference that Sheldon and Amy have a son they name Leonard. I can totally see Sheldon trying to convince Leonard that he's naming his son after Leonard Nimoy not Leonard Hofstedder! I loved this shout out to BBT but it made me miss the original show even more. I'd love to have seen Sheldon dealing with the pandemic - and I speak as someone who has been going out of my way to avoid shows that actually are dealing with the pandemic!
  21. Same here! I'd also forgotten how much I like this show and this episode did not disappoint - especially Amy at the end! The only thing I was puzzled about was the 'come to Jesus' attitude of Dale. Had this been hinted at last year? If so I completely missed it.
  22. Am I surrounded by cynical children because I don't know a single child over the age of about 7-8 who believes in Santa and yet almost invariably in these movies children who look about 10-12 are writing Santa letters and seem to genuinely still believe.
