The snacks Faye prepared were not welcomed by the guests. Crackers and some nuts? Oh but she had the crisps! How long did eating those snacks and drinking the Bloody Mary's delay their return to the yacht? 30 minutes? Maybe 60 minutes or more? Maybe those women really took 2-3 hours to get ready. Or maybe the producers had them wait before coming out. They sure didn't look like they really spent 2-3 hours of getting made up and dressing up. Now the cave picnic and then the whole photo shoot. Doubtful the guests demanded those. Seems like there have been picnics or some demand to take food to some outing off the boat for the last 3 or 4 charters. I wouldn't put it past Bravo producers, once they found out making food to take off the boat really annoyed Jess and was the cause of friction with Faye, to add picnics and other outings to the preference sheets. So in the case of the late dinner, she could have microwaved the food rather than re-heat on the skillet, tell them dinner was suppose to be at 8 PM, not 11 PM. But that wouldn't be "5-star service."🙄 If they were really paying tens of thousands including tip for these fake TV charters, yes she should be standing by as late as it takes, though with that kind of money, they could have more than one chef to make all the food for the guests and staff. In any event, it appears she says "take this job and shove it." What they show on screen is friction between the cast, including Kerry. But really the ones who are stirring up the shit are the producers. The producers don't care if Jess walks off the boat. That will show the crew even more stressed so there could be even more drama.

Finally finished the season. The brief glimpses of some ritual killing in the first episode or two made me wary, like it wasn't just killing each other to survive but there was some mythology to it, why some were apparently hunting each other down. Then the early episodes showed the old timeline, where the girls were prepping for the trip and they ruthlessly broke the ankle of their teammate, because she was going to hurt the team -- um, why not just bench her? Teen girls can be vicious and their social interactions can be hostile as that of any other group? By the end of the season, you see the beginnings of some antagonism and Lottie leading a group who will have little tolerance for dissent. Not sure I buy it but they haven't shown the whole story about what happened in the wilderness. I'm suspicious that they won't show the whole story until maybe 3 or 4 seasons in, if not longer. The incentive for the show runners is to keep the show on the air longer and Showtime has kept shows on for more seasons than probably merited -- Dexter, Homeland, Shameless and others. They only show 4 survivors in the new timeline, Shauna, Nat, Taissa and Misti. But in the finale, the suggestion is there may be others, such as Lottie. In season 2 and beyond, they may reveal others. Whatever the story is, some like Shauna may have been more lucky than smart to have survived. The who thing with Adam and her confronting and killing him, then finding out it was Jeff who read her diaries and blackmailed them does not show that she's some mastermind or strategic thinker who survived because of her smarts. Misti is a sociopath, starting with destroying the black box. Like how did she think they would survive long enough to be found? Then we see she abducts people and kills them. Taissa may go around killing dogs in some ritual sacrifice in her sleep. Nat may be the only one who's not crazy but she will go and shoot first, ask questions later. She had to be rescued from blowing her head off by being abducted.

Yeah it was her way of saying her getting fired was BS. Debauchery was her banging Ben on the top bunk with Tony below. First the producers come up with these stupid preference sheets with 8-course around the world meals and picnic the next day. Then Rachel gets flak for not cranking out the food fast enough? If they guests really had to eat a lot and often, or at least the pregnant one did, why not just stay on board and keep asking for in-between meal snacks or mini meals? Instead they play along for the picnic on the beach and complain the food isn't right there when they arrive on the beach. Of course they made sure the cameras were set up first so the wife could say she's hungry and then the husband could complain that she needs food and then you have the crew radioing each other. Oh no, someone is going hungry! The primary was prodded to twist the knife, saying they should have poured the hot miso soup and then the very next morning, less than 24 hours after coming on board, he demands to know if the interior is shorthanded. Like how would he know? Do the guests even understand there are two separate teams of workers, though they obviously have the all the crew help out during dinner service? He didn't come up with those comments on his own. Imogen the "I have a unique name" guest with her unusual laugh that she did repeatedly, then listening to her AirPods at dinner and then skipping out the final courses to dance by herself. Where do they get these people?

House Hunters International - General Discussion

The realtor is vaguely familiar. Yeah I don't know if the wife was serious about 1 bathroom. They don't know how long he's going to be at the UK base but if it's some number of years, the kids may reach puberty and then they're going to want their own bathroom. I don't know if people in the military deployed overseas get a housing allowance? Or some extra money because housing in England may be more than in FL. So if the wife really wanted "charm" -- as opposed being prodded to say she wants English charm -- they could always dig into their pockets more for something with charm and room for the family. -

But lot of the vets now were not on the Real World. Devin, Tori, Nelson, Laurel. They were on other shows, don't know if those shows have a lot of viewers. Maybe BB has bigger ratings than TRW ever did. The personalities they talk about are people who go over the top with drama. For instance, imagine some Bravo reality show cast on The Challenge, which won't happen because Bravo is part of NBC while MTV is part of CBS. It would suck to reinforce the behavior of some of these people by putting them on regular rotation for The Challenge. -

But they've brought in a lot of new blood over the last few seasons. Some have appeared a couple of times but they don't come back. Either they lost interest or the producers didn't think they had star power? The game is slanted in favor of vets most of the time. Even when rookies and newbies have the numbers, they get picked off and lose their numerical advantage. Vets usually end up winning. Amber won as a rookie but only paired with CT. B-M is shady in the way the Dailies and eliminations are set up so if they're putting their thumb on the scale to favor vets who are best-known and likely to attract viewers, they will have seasons like this one, mostly vets who are willing to keep coming back and a couple of rookies/newbies who make it to the Final or close to the Final. So if the rookies and newbies think the vets have too much advantage, they may not stick around and do multiple seasons. For instance Horacio has great potential as a regular, to do multiple season. But I don't think he's the first one in the past few years, there have been others who for whatever reasons didn't return more than maybe once or twice. Depending on how this season ends and whatever other options he has, Horacio may not bother to return. -
If the fungus takes over a person's body to that extent, probably feeding off a lot of the human tissue, it would probably disrupt a lot of the systems which keep humans alive. For instance, if their mouths are full of fungus or worms or whatever, the body is probably not getting much oxygen and the immune system will flood the lungs with fluid, causing inflammation in all kinds of organs, killing the human host, as happens with covid. TLOU was written before covid and people in general have better ideas about the immune system and how it reacts to pathogens. It makes for an entertaining story but I think it's mostly science fiction. It's one thing for the fungus to take over ants but mammals have vastly different biology. As noted, fungus can't survive the body temperatures of humans. Now they're saying climate change causes the fungus to adapt and be able to thrive inside human hosts and control them like they can ants. But epidemiologist have already pointed out, the fungus wouldn't have to wait for big increases in global temperatures in order to evolve and be able to withstand human body temperatures. There are already tropical regions of the world which are already hot enough for them to thrive. Certainly Boston is a cold place. It's going to take a long time for climate change to make Boston a permanent tropical zone.

The set design and camera angles really do look like a video game. Especially when it switches from a wide angle to a tight view often. I've seen buildings all dilapidated and overgrown with vegetation reclaiming the terrain back in other games before. I can see it, Joel is reluctant to be responsible for protecting Ellie, even though he killed that soldier to prevent a replay of Sarah being killed by another trigger-happy soldier. He has no choice, he loses Tess, who implored him to take her, and he can't drop her off as originally planned. So Tess had to make this big sacrifice. They must have wanted that kiss so she's struggling to ignite that lighter when there were grenades all over the floor which she flooded with gasoline.

Minor detail from season 02 episode 02, apparently Jimmy and Gina have separate bedrooms and she won’t undress in front of him. They have a giant house so they can stay away from each other but apparently it’s not big enough for Fia, who moved to a big suite in the family hotel, to live with Rocco. She named their son after her brother, whom Adam killed. But the baby’s middle name is Adam. Michael going to snap out of his funk because his grandson has Adams eyes or something? Fia’s parent are upset that she moved out of their home — and into their hotel. Gina mocks Fia’s independence and Fia mocks Gina’s persecution complex. Fia is probably upset with her parents because they named her Fia — of all the nice Italian names out there. Michael wants to avoid the Baxters but has to deliver meat to their hotel. He can’t warn Clay Davis, who’s now mayor. Meanwhile Mo gets Clay Davis to force a club owner to sell a night club to her because her girlfriend sings there. Club is also right across the street from the Baxters’ home and hotel — are New Orleans streets that narrow? Mo’s gf may become a target. Eugene hiding out in Houston but forgets his new name is suppose to be Justin. Justin can’t stop drawing pictures of his mother and siblings being burned alive or him shooting up the hotel.

Or they're actually moving on with their lives, unlike some others. They may have to cultivate more young challengers, some newbies to become the new vets. -

Republicans aren't going to settle for letting the states decide. Lindsay Graham already introduced a bill to ban it nationwide after 6 weeks, maybe without any exceptions for rape, incest or life of the mother. That's what the activists are pushing. They're also looking at ways to disrupt constitutional provisions for freedom of travel between states (people going to blue states to get abortion or other health services banned in red states) and also they're going after some obscure 19th century law to stop abortifacients being distributed via the mail. If anyone thinks Republicans are going to just leave it at blue states with abortion rights and red states without, they're not paying attention. -

Bill took some shots at the younger generations, saying they don't know anything, how they drive the woke or cancel culture. Also said they don't watch his show. Hmm, wonder why. He must have had some PTSD when they groaned at some of his jokes. -

Buenos Aires to Oslo. Wanted two bedroom in expensive Oslo center, to get roommate. He can only afford $800. There was only one choice of a 2 bedroom at $1600 in Oslo center. The other choices were 2 bedroom outside Oslo center and 1 bedroom in the center. Agent suggested he get the 1 bedroom at $1000. He goes for the 2 bedroom at $1600 in the center, to be near nightlife and the university he was going to attend. 3 months later, says he’s happy with his choice, going to meet his new roommate soon. So he couldn’t pay $1000 for the 1-bedroom apartment yet he’s been living in a $1600 apartment for 3 months without splitting the rent? Looks like they didn’t check the script for consistency? -

I couldn’t roll my eyes enough at Barr, religion is being persecuted yet the Supreme Court is full of Catholics and white evangelicals are one of the most powerful voting blocs in the country. I haven’t followed the trans kids issue too much buT I’ve heard of studies showing that early interventions including drugs do have positive impacts on these kids. That is presumably why Bill and Sullivan mocked science at the end. They can’t dispute these studies other than to ignore or mock them, not address them substantively. -
What have they shown which would explain the hate? Maybe off the show she's been trash-talking others or something? When they put her in earlier in the season, nobody gave a reason why.

Liked both of their final 2 choices, though that house in the jungle, don't like it being in the jungle. I wondered about wild life and insects and they alluded to all the animals around and they also came up on some insect that they had to wave away. Plus they'd have to drive all the time to go anywhere. Seems like they're going all in. Said it was their entire retirement savings. Kind o doubt that but wanted to avoid getting a car. That condo they chose was nice. Maybe the husband is lying to himself. They enjoy dancing so he still wanted to be near the night life but admitted he was already the oldest guy in the club. -
They probably don't get cast in the first place unless they signal that they're going to play along.
-
It's a lot of resentment because Amber won big money as a rookie. They don't want to see her keep winning money.

Gotta give props to the Banany, a name they used for themselves in this episode. They had a strategy, the other teams didn't on the Daily. They even had time to confirm they got the right balls. Seems ike they did it faster than Horacio and Olivia too. Probably helped that they went last, had ideas on how to approach it. Some teams just gave up, needing 2 or 3 balls. As for the knots elimination, yeah Aneesa was ready to quit but Jordan dragged her through. The shade everyone threw at Amber and Chauncey, who figured they'd at best have to draw daggers and figured better to psych themselves to go into elimination. OF course it favored the stronger and bigger, though Jordan was smart. But even if Chauncey beat him, it would presumably be Aneesa vs. Amber for the tiebreaker. Five teams left, they could have all gone to the Final and then eliminate one or two and have the other 3 or 4 pairs race for the money. But looks like there will be the last Daily and elimination, so it would be 4 teams competing in the Final. That makes sense, this is only the 15the episode and they could probably sell at least 2 more episodes worth of ads.

Likable couple but they’re not engaged or married. Weird how they went to the same school, had mutual friends, but never met until much later. They lived together before coming to Cambodia for a year. It appears like he wanted to move there more than she did. She’s subsidizing his living costs, cooks for him , watches as he enjoys the rooftop pool. Hopefully he doesn’t burn her after he gets his masters. If they split up, she’d go back to Lisbon — really surprised she said no work back home. Not sure this experience helps her with her CV if she had to look for work in Portugal or elsewhere in Europe. I guess she could build a portfolio of her work. They both speak English well so maybe London is an option. -
Paul Theroux gave an interview recently and said he hopes it's renewed for season 3. He credited the show runners for giving the characters from his book back stories. He thinks season 3 would begin to tell the story in his book. Also claims his nephew Justin auditioned for the role on his own, didn't get it because it was a part of the deal to get rights to make a show out of his book.

Who said anything about canceling excursions. She will get them fully fed before the excursion and then they can come back and have a proper dinner. Or maybe snacks. And it will be hot food, not cold sandwiches. Faye's plan was shit.
-
As far as Katie, she said her former bf cheated on her a lot. So not surprising she's sticking with Ross, even though she admitted she may look like an idiot. If someone cheats on you once, that cheater is a lousy person. If they cheat on your second or third or more times, then the "victim" is at fault for not getting rid of the cheater after the first offense. Katie may be incapable of moving on. She may feel hurt but for whatever reason, she's drawn to men who will cheat on her repeatedly because she can't quit them. Even as she sobs, somehow she is drawn to feeling that way.

Only the mother was a Cicada or a Russian sleeper agent. The husband and daughter were not, so she kept that a secret from them. Mother was playing along with the plot of the villains, which was to keep the police and spies busy with the code september, thinking the plane was carrying bombs.

Because Faye's choice was shit. Cold foods in the cold weather is all she could offer. Why should Jess let her food be subject to Faye's whims? Or make her food unappealing? Previous guests barely touched the cold sandwiches because they were cold sandwiches in cold weather. As I said before, the guests were all about the pizzas. That is enough of a reason to change course, not stick with Faye's stupid plan to feed them more cold foods, because again, they don't have a way to heat or keep foods hot. We know the excursions are producer-driven BS. Faye doesn't get to decide how the guests will be fed. That's the chef, who almost always decides on what dishes she makes, including snacks. The only area where chefs don't decide is when they take orders for breakfast. This has been the case on all BD shows, not just this season of this show.
