CNN canceled because the production company that he owns wants too much. Maybe Apple TV + but they’re about to do their own travel show, The Reluctant Traveler, with Eugene Levy. But that show isn’t food-centric.

Inside the Episode says Kathleen and Perry are not in the game. They created the roles. Kathleen is suppose to be a complicated character, even though she’s shown to be ruthless. I guess this episode is suppose to show the difficult moral choices people have made. Joel wouldn’t answer Ellie’s question whether he’s killed innocent people. So maybe Kathleen ends up not being too different from Joel, who says he’s been on both sides of ambushes. This group won’t let people just pass through, they wanted to kill them as well as take their stuff. So if you don’t know where your next meal is coming from, you take it from strangers who may not be hostile and kill them? Bryan and those other guys got more than they bargained for though.

I guess Hector Salamanca was brought in as the heavy this season, even though his character is supposedly long-retired. You'd think there would be some other Italian mafia in New Orleans but the mafia is supposedly very weakened in the US because of RICO prosecutions. I can't imagine Jimmy doesn't have more muscle than any remnants of the Italian mob in the city. This divergence between Jimmy and Gina is interesting though, in the previous episode they're not a couple any more so she's not predisposed to backing him. Instead she will constantly remind him how he doesn't measure up as the head of the family, how inadequate he is in many ways. That could be a volatile situation. Thing I don't get is that the Baxters have this luxury hotel and restaurant front, trying to get influence from the mayor and other politicians and trying to get this $1 billion waterfront project going. So where are they getting the money, if they're not engaging in as many criminal activities? Gina expressed scorn for that drug dealing bitch Big Mo. If the Baxters aren't trafficking in drugs, are they still doing crime? Sure they will kill people but where is there income to fund a $1 billion project? I doubt hotel and restaurant generates that kind of money. Maybe prostitution and gambling? But if they are doing that much crime, politicians wouldn't be seen with them and certainly even entertain giving them a huge project. In any event, the criminal aspect of the Baxters don't make sense. Jimmy wasn't going to kill Michael in his own hotel, right after hosting a very public event where he's embracing Michael and Clay Davis. It's a good thing Michael got rid of the bug because he would have been caught easily. That bug wasn't going to be useful, not like Jimmy was going to confess his crimes to Michael, who has no interest in helping Olivia. Never been to New Orleans but what are the chances that some entertainment venue across the river, presumably in some different place than the French Quarter and where the Mardi Gras would be held would succeed? It does look like a nice location but if people are going to visit New Orleans, they'd want to stay and hang out where the action is, not go across the river? I mean you can stay in New Jersey instead of Manhattan to save on some hotel rates but its kind of a drag to have to take the PATH train every day, maybe more than once a day, to go to places in Manhattan, have meals there.

S21.E03: Medaria Arradondo; Bret Stephens; Ruben Gallego

Dying with covid is a BS distinction. When they look at excess deaths in the pandemic years compared to excess deaths before the pandemic, there are more deaths than the official covid death tolls. This is the case in many nations. So if anything, they're undercounting covid deaths. Then there's long covid which they haven't found a good diagnostic to measure. But what they can measure, this past year, every month there's been over 1 million workers who called in sick. In some months, approaching 2 million. That is way more than before the pandemic. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/jan/29/covid-absence-workforce-health-long-covid Bill: "Healthy people are fine!" Yeah more hand-waving and denial. -

I think Adelaide was new but Phuket wasn't. I've seen that stained glass in Australian homes. They look pretty modest from the outside, limited curb appeal. But they're roomy with some decorative elements and can have a nice backyard. Husband was gung ho on moving, even more than the wife, even though they're going to be around her family, not his. But he gets to work remotely so he can play with his young sons. Smart move not spending the extra $500k. Though that home is enticing, smart to see how working over the Internet works for him first. -
Christa Miller is in a lot of scenes. Is it because she’s married to the showrunner? Alice told on Jimmy to Paul about Sean staying with Jimmy. She also alleged that there was some funny business going on between Alice and Sean? That seems like a villain turn from nosy or hovering neighbor. They brought Brian on slowly but he’s coming on strong — that cornhole joke. Wendy Malick looks good for being over 70. Her facial skin looks more natural though maybe she’s also had work done? Her face doesn’t look unnaturally stretched. Guess the big reveal at the end is suppose to be a big deal but I think in most abusive situations, it’s difficult for women to just suddenly leave. Yet that woman was pretending all this time, having FaceTime sessions with Jimmy claiming to be in another state. Someone on Reddit noted that she was up on that hiking path the previous time that Jimmy ran into the asshole husband. There was a figure wearing the same clothes in the earlier scene but her face wasn’t shown. So Jimmy’s going to reevaluate his practice and life again?

Season 9: Speculation, Rumors, Spoilers, and Other Omens

Either that or it was a false story line. She may have been cheating on sobriety but they pretended otherwise. And that Ashley plot was a huge boon to the producers. It blew up on social media before they were going to shoot the season so it was a gift to them to integrate Ashley into that season. -
Jordan mentioned earlier this season that he volunteered in Ukraine, getting food and materials over there and helping some refugees get out. So maybe the babushka is a Ukraine thing. Maybe he has some Ukrainian heritage or knows someone who does.

To do a fake photo shoot.

Who's Olivia? The tall and skinny blond chick who was supposedly dating Austen last season? Hmm, so her brother hung out with Thomas all the time but she's not been in the orbit of the show until this season. Makes Charleston seem like a smaller town than it probably is.
-
Yeah I had to look up Christa's age -- she's 58. I remember her from the Seinfeld episode when George felt the material on her dress -- she's a complete stranger -- and she takes offense, gets in George's face. OK, so far I've only watched the first episode but that Seinfeld scene is more memorable and funny than anything in the pilot.

It is bad luck but those were kind of dangerous things they had to do. Maybe they could have given gloves for the bolo toss and a helmet with a face shield for the sling shot. Horacio and Olivia struggled in the bolo toss even when she didn't get injured. And I suspect the vets pretended to swallow the shake but basically puked it out without actually swelling most of it. Maybe the rookies don't know that trick. Devin made a mistake doing a deal with Banany, who were right on their heels. He said if Banany betray them, they're bad people. Well yeah but you still get screwed. You know you can't trust Bananas. Guess he was worried that they might jump to a lead in the next couple of days. He didn't see Jordan and Aneesa as a threat at all. Even if she didn't turn her ankle, Aneesa would have difficulty keeping up and Jordan had to know this coming in. That's why some of these pairs, it wasn't completely their choice who their Ride or Dies were.

Maybe. But maybe they don't know if they're always going to do Norway. Maybe they go to Sweden or the Baltics, or around Finland, though I don't think those areas are as scenic as Norway's fjords. Down Under did get them a lot of underwater footage, definitely a new type of scenery. They may also operate from near Sydney or Melbourne in the future. The BD, BDM and BDSY all operate in the Mediterranean. Well BD did operate in the Mediterranean but now back to the Caribbean. Great scenery but there aren't many other distinctive things, unless they have picnics to set up in some old fort or something like that.
-
The adventure thing was a gimmick. None of the guests were hardcore adventure or extreme sports types. They set it in Norway and had to come up with a hook, to justify another BD show. These guests probably applied to be on any BD show and Bravo picked them to do the Norway show. I would doubt that they all preferred to go up to Norway in the cold as opposed to going to the Mediterranean in the summer. Not that Norway doesn't merit a visit, just that if you're going to be on a boat, you can do more in warmer weather. Don't tell me going on a zip line made these guests choose to go to Norway. Well at least the charters were only a couple of days. Hell remember that one guest who was supposedly annoyed that there were no grits up in Norway? She played along for the cameras but she didn't choose Norway, Bravo chose Norway for her. That's how much these people wanted to be on TV.

House Hunters International - General Discussion

Bordeaux is on my bucket list. It's a strange choice, she dreamed of Paris and he's from Paris -- says he's never met anyone from Bordeaux. So why did they return from Thailand to Bordeaux, why not other places in France? Maybe it's better for raising a family and they have specific plans to start a family. Why do they have a car if they just come from Thailand? A car would be even more difficult in Paris so why not sell it since both work from home? The guy was worried about coming up with $2000 a month for rent yet they set that as the budget? Crypto trading? Not sure that's a thing. Depending on when this was filmed, any crypto he owned may have lost a lot of value. Crypto is so volatile that in a given day, impossible to predict how much it will go up or down. If he bought it years ago, it would be worth a lot and he may be trying to hold on to make the most he can. With money being a concern, they eliminate the cheapest choice. They wanted to be in the middle of everything and be able to enjoy going out. So maybe they don't have as much financial uncertainty as they let on. That is a nice choice they made though. -
The whole lead up about Jess walking off was faked. Faye, Kerry and crew didn’t even remark much when they pretended she was leaving. If it was a real charter, they’d be running around like their hair was on fire, with three more meals to serve. Amazing how the drama just disappeared. Like they just simply turned off the faucet. Highlight of the episode was the dinner at the restaurant with the views. Normally people walk up 400 steps to that place and the lookouts up there but they just rode up and down in taxis.

Liz Kaplan gives interview to Fresh Air. It's not just about this role, but covers her whole career. -
Or maybe just some random people doing the looping -- that's what it's called.
-
I forgot about that. That's a huge tattoo. But she didn't riff those sentences off the top of her head. She either practiced it herself or they gave her several takes to say it like it flowed out naturally. They probably knew it wouldn't get cut for the version they aired, probably thinking it's comedy gold. Kind of like in the earlier episode Hayley was talking about keeping boyfriends with her oral sex skills. Yeah they wanted to be risqué, probably encouraged them to talk about these topics. Bravo is not the place for feminists.
-
Because it was "magical" according to her.
-
What they could have done was looping, which is to have the cast come back and record vocals while watching a cut of the scene during post production. That's very common with scripted shows and film but not sure about reality shows.

House Hunters International - General Discussion

The couple who went to CR is starting a business there and unsure what kind of income they'll get? They're going to help people moving there to transition and settle in, learn about the services and so forth? After they learn for themselves? Maybe there is a need for such services but how are they going to market those services? Maybe they know someone who does such work and he's given them references? In any event, looks like budget and location were the big drivers of their choice. Guy worried about the ceilings being too low but it was the lowest prices so he's just going to have to make do. -
The guests leave a generous tip. These are the hangry people, with the pregnant wife and Imogen with the quirky name and laugh -- she uses a blind mask when she sleeps and then uses it as a headband when she wakes up, don't you know? But the primary guest, who in previous episode demanded to know if they were understaffed, like how the fuck would he know if they were, then gave "constructive criticism" talking about the staff not always being at their beck and call to get them drinks and food every time they wanted it. He was singing for the producers, to make some of the crew feel badly, but then the fake tip of $22k made everyone forget, because they were going to have a good drunken time on the catamaran and the mud baths or pretend to, for the cameras. OK, not one mention of Katie and Ross having sex in the guest cabin showers, even though others are suppose to clean up after them to prep it for guests. So that one time on whichever BD show and whichever season, they made it a big deal, we now know it was total BS, another way to gin up drama. No BD show can ever play that fake card again, cast having sex in the guest cabins is a big deal. This time when they parked the ship, they didn't make a big deal out of it, just showed like a couple second time lapse sequence of the yacht sliding in, without any drama. That seems like a first. Camille showing up, again another fake event. You knew the production crew was ready for that moment, because they had to attach a mike pack to her for the verbal brilliance which was going to come out of Camille. Alas, no "debauchery" this time, she looked happy and tanned. But they happened to have a seat for her at the table already and it appears they had a plate of food for her, or did she eat someone else's food? Ho hum.

Couples are always sentimental about "their song" but has one song been an aphrodisiac like that? Only in the movies and TV right? I only know Ronstadt's hits somewhat. Never had one of her albums so I wouldn't know this relatively-obscure song. What are the odds this song meant so much to both of them? It may have really spoken to Bill, believing that love wasn't in the cards for him. But Frank seems the more gregarious kind, like the only reason he'd be alone was because he lost someone.
