Heh. My SIL is a Pinterest fanatic, but it never really did much for me. -
Aww, she's really making strides!

In Memoriam: Entertainment Industry Celebrity Deaths

Tell me about it! I was on Facebook earlier and those news links up at the top right, which used to have a little blurb, now just have a name or place and you have to hover over the link to see the blurb. Tonight, I saw Bob Barker listed and let out an "Eep!" until I saw the blurb, which is that he's celebrating his 93rd birthday. 2016 has made me very nervous to see a random name in the news. -
S33.E13: I'm Going For A Million Bucks / S33.E14: Reunion

Blech. Not a winner I enjoyed. Hannah handled FTC better than either Ken or Adam. Hated that both guys had sob stories and that Hannah was completely overlooked. -
Better than Richard Ramirez, which was my first impression.

Ha! I didn't, either, but instead of attending the prom, my friends and I drove out on some lonely country road and got high. Good times. Ahem.

I agree. Think of all the "If pigs could fly" jokes you could make!

Absolutely! That's what we're here for! -
True, but sometimes... I found my lump and would swear it hadn't been there the week before (the day before!) and it was already marble-sized and going like a house on fire. In the month it took for diagnosis, appointments, procedures to qualify for a drug trial, etc., until I actually started chemo, it went from marble-sized to 2 inches across. I dodged a huge bullet in that there was no evidence of spread, even to my lymph nodes. A lady I met in a support group diagnosed at the same time with a less aggressive tumor was metastatic at diagnosis, no chemo worked, and she was dead in 2 months. There's a huge element of sheer luck involved. She was optimistic and positive and I was so freaked out, they put me on anti-depressants. Six years later, I'm still here. And I promise I won't discuss it further, because I know this is off-topic. Mea culpa.

As a cancer survivor, I'd emphatically say no. IMO, that's a slap in the face to the many wonderful, strong, brave people who didn't make it. And I suspect this idea is so prevalent because people want to believe they'd have an ace in their pocket if it ever happened to them, instead of facing the reality that one's survival is contingent upon things mostly outside of their control, like insurance, socioeconomic status, genes, pure luck, which doctor you see and whether or not you have access to a clinical drug trial, etc.

When my Dad was dying in Florida, my older brother and I were able to catch a flight down immediately. He had been mostly unresponsive, but when I told him I was there, he waggled his eyebrows. I told him my brother and I were there, and we would take care of Mom, so if he wanted to go, it was OK. He died an hour later. His sister thanked me, saying she'd wanted to tell him something similar, but felt it wasn't her place.

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"

sealit, if you were still in college, maybe your friend had never lost anyone close and was trying to sympathize the only way she could. Yeah, she struck out hard, but hopefully she's since learned that a sincere "I'm sorry" is the best way to go. I wouldn't judge all pet owners on one kid in her early 20s flailing for the proper thing to say. -
I've been seeing ads for mattresses in a box (Casper, etc.) delivered by mail. Well, I got my Sealy Cocoon memeory foam/gel hybrid mattress yesterday in the mail and... I like it! I got the firm vs soft (my usual preference) and also went for the "chill" version with a top layer that is supposed to wick away body heat. I got a queen size, and it's about 11 inches deep. I got $100 off using the promo code OPRAH, as it is apparently one of her "favorite things". So it cost $750 with free shipping and a 100 night money-back guarantee. It comes vacuum-squished and rolled up in a 15x15x45 box and weighs about 75 pounds. I had some nigglings doubts I'd be able to set it up myself, and while it wasn't quite as easy as the demo below (I'm a 55 yr-old woman, not a fit young man), it was definitely doable without throwing my back out. I asked about that money-back guarantee: "Umm, how would I get it back in the box?" and they said they would donate it to a charity in my area and inform them to go pick it up. The charity would give me a receipt that I would then e-mail back to Sealy for a refund. Very nice way to handle things! I approve, but I don't think that's going to be necessary unless something drastic changes in the next 3 months. It only took 30 minutes to fully expand, and I used that time to put on the mattress protector I had bought, the sheets and comforter, etc. Slept like a baby. PS - I kept the old box springs and put it on top of that.

Tornadoes were another recurring childhood dream. Lately, most of my dreams involve looking or searching for various things or people. The dreams are all different, but I'm always looking for something. To bring this back on track, I'm taking Swiffer to the vet tomorrow because she has lately been doing this thing where she seems to jump or startle and then starts almost frantically licking her butt. Bladder infection? Hopefully not stones, and if I'm really lucky, it's just anal glands (I can't believe I just wrote that!). LOL Update: It's anal glands! So she's cleaned out, got an anti-inflammatory shot to "calm things down back there" and on precautionary antibiotics. Both girls are due for all their yearly stuff in February, so we'll recheck then. So, phew! I'll take her being mad at me.

Yeah, well, I disagree with that.
-
Why was it vile?
-
Yeah, it said she died 2 days after filming wrapped. How quickly could he get back home if they had transport waiting?
-
White floor.

Aww! My most scarring childhood nightmare was either the one where monsters were peeking in the window (still have to have the curtains shut) or the one where the floor of the closet was the gateway to hell. Still have to have the closet doors shut before I can sleep. So I can sympathize. Would be nice if my kitties would do perimeter sweeps for me. All they've ever done is freak the shit out of me one night when, reading in bed, they both simultaneously go up on point, staring down the hall and Lucy starts growling. Just about the time I decide I have to get up and investigate, they both "stand down" and start licking their paws, stretching, etc. Not sure I've ever quite forgiven them for that scare. LOL

I don't think I hate anyone left, but I'm not sure I'm liking anyone but Jay right now. I think if Hannah were my coworker, she'd drive me absolutely nuts. David's a sad sack, Bret comes across as a bit obnoxious, I go back and forth on Adam, Ken is pretty, but playing terribly...

I thought it was Eve associated with the snake. She listened to the snake and then Adam listened to her.

I DO understand exactly what you're saying! I give those breathing treatments in the hospital all day long. Don't think of the "action plan", as we call them, to be scary. We're trying to eliminate fear and uncertainty. "Am I overreacting? Am I underreacting?" The action plan lays it out - if this happens, do this. This is when you should start giving extra treatments. This is when you should call your doctor. This is when things aren't working and you need to bring her to the ER. If this happens, call 911 immediately. PS - does she have one of those cute pediatric masks? We have purple dragons and blue and gold fish for different nebulizers.
