  1. Interesting. I was aware of the doughnut cutter, and was given fried cakes as a kid (holes, too) so I knew that’s where they came from. KC was more of an urban thing, and while I can appreciate the appeal (decadently fresh out of the fryer), I had stopped eating donuts at all by then.
  2. I’m not either, but the writers seem to be going out of their way to send out those Hallmark “sparks” between the two, while downplaying any chemistry between Elliot and Kat. FWIW, I can’t get past the image of “Chevalier” (Versailles) when I look at Elliot’s pretty face.
  3. Yeah, instead of the almanac listings, it really would have been helpful to have seen a family tree early on. However, the almanac lists many names in the family history, but Jacob is only listed as born to Del and Colton. Isaiah never put him in the book, even though he called him a “Landry”. Oops, I mean Elijah, the man who took Jacob in. Interesting that with all these biblical names, they didn’t use one to record the fam.
  4. If Del gets to spend some time (say, a week or so) with Jacob, just to know he has family, a life, and a fiancé, I think she’ll be content with him going back to that life. I would think she’d be grateful to Isaiah for taking care of him, too.
  5. They must really be trying to tighten the belt. They’re promoting already aired movies as “premiers”. Apparently, they can’t produce new advertising, either. In February, I heard an announcement for “new mystery every Friday”, not specifying the month. When it didn’t come to pass, I just assumed they meant March. That’s not happening either.
  6. I’m not a big doughnut fan, but my favorite was the fried cake version. I’ve never seen the yeast version sold as doughnut holes, and suspected Carol’s confusion arose over the difference between the two.
  7. Positively NOT rewatch fodder, with very few sympathetic or even likable characters. Often found myself not really giving a hoot enough to even keep them straight.
  8. All of the characters in this storyline are grappling with a great deal of internal angst. Not a lot of that comes through in the screenplay dialogue. However, plot wise, it follows the book closely.
  9. I would suspect handling a K9 would be a subset of bomb detection and elimination.
  10. Watching now, and I’m amazed at how these characters look exactly as I pictured them as I read the book. That never happens to me as I don’t have facility with faces/physical descriptions. The only exception was Matt’s mother-I pictured her much larger, stern-looking, yes, but with the potential for the severity to soften. Sad that there’s no forum for it here, and wondering if there will be more seasons.
  11. Sounds like Sam is sticking around, waiting for the right moment to recruit Jane for the new, super secret agency. That said, I hope the hotel survives, as it sounded like a wonderful place for vacationing service men and women.

I think your mpg is a little bit high, but there are discounts/rewards plans. Most diesel drivers have several cards.

Actually, there are tens of thousands (if not hundreds) of families in this country who live out of tow behinds and fifth wheels. They call themselves “full-timers”. The majority, if not retired, work via the internet from their mobile homes, have one designated state of “residence” (usually one that does not have a state income tax), and follow good weather. There are “RV resorts” that offer some upscale amenities, but many just park wherever it’s legal. Saves money, but takes planning for supplies, water, power, and disposal of refuse/sewage.

I had those thoughts to begin, but dismissed them pretty quickly. I did have to laugh when (after vowing he wouldn’t slow Colter down) he was out of breath 5 feet into forested terrain. You just knew he was going to end up needing to be “rescued” as well. Possible plot device to convince us Colter is best left to do his thing solo.
  15. I didn't know they actually made a video, thanks for that, too. As I typed 3 rivers above, I thought maybe it was only 2, but trying to get a post done before the darn reload made me not care. Anxious to check it out.
  16. It’s still there, on Britbox, last episode of season 12. Watched 13.1, then came here. I wouldn’t have known about it if you hadn’t been discussing it, so thanks for that. On a side note, someone mentioned that there might be a new Cleeves series in the works: based upon the Three Rivers mysteries. I’ve read the first two books and I like the characters and the setting. I find the pairing of the policeman and the community center director to be intriguing-total opposites. I almost like the community center characters/action as much as the mystery/policing.
  17. I could see that, but dance, too. Would it be comedic to see MGH trying to keep up? Or would it be better to see her kill all the moves? I’d like it either way.
  18. Old, but I loved Treme. So many great actors coming together for a cause.
  19. Darn! I missed it, and next week is the SotU address. Ugh.
  20. Their websites have always frustrated me. They seem to have been designed by idiots who have no concept of organization, ease of navigation, or redundancy of information. Useless.
  21. The name change turned up today on my guide. They must be trying to save some money-Hallmark Family is airing in SD, not HD anymore. I don’t mind the picture in SD, but the sound is usually lousy (like listening with ear muffs on.
  22. That and the obvious injustice of the well to do playing fast and loose with people’s lives, bribing the officials, and thumbing their noses at the law.
  23. Elliot’s vision was obviously a flashback, (embarrassing at the time), and made him ad lib a new speech. I’m wondering if Susanna and Coyle have been to other founder’s day celebrations. Their dress would allow them to wander unnoticed, as some attendees came in period costume. Could be as simple as you say, but I can’t help but ruminate over it.
  24. No one has mentioned Kat, with her ridiculously gigantic button seeing Susanna and Coyle at the present day founder’s celebration. I keep pondering over it. Was it her imagination, or were they really there?
  25. A Shelby Cobra (if mint), is a very rare and valuable classic (probably valued well into 6 figures). Yes, probably insured to the max, but the owner would be crying huge tears on the insurance money, while mourning the loss of his/her lovingly cared for “baby”. The intrinsic value is in the history. Search a bio on Shelby.
