Magnum P.I. (2018) - General Discussion
Unclejosh replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Magnum P.I. (2018)
I will say that in my experience, men consider teasing each other or ragging on each other as a form of bonding and a sign of true friendship. You don't tease people you are not close with. It is a sign of affection and love despite the actual words being said. I would say 90% of my interactions with my friends is what we call "ranking" (teasing) on each other's appearances, life choices, family members, etc. For those in our circle, nothing is off limits and nothing is taboo as long as it is said as a joke. But we all love each other and would do anything for each other. The way they are portrayed when joking is WAY more realistic than depictions of guys who have real deep conversations on the reg. While those do happen occasionally, they are out of the norm and an anomaly as part of their overall interactions. -
Per Tony the rocks were half of the combined weights of both team members. So Tony and Bananas had the heaviest rock by far.

Tease I agree with. I thank you for your response. I don't think Player or Heartbreaker really applies to someone who doesn't sleep with anyone though. The term being discussed is not a part of my vocabulary, I just am fascinated by how words can change in either meaning or value in their offensiveness or maybe just awareness as time goes by is what I mean. I have known and seen women is the past proudly calling themselves that even wearing outfits with the word emblazoned on it. BTW I think CT has been a tease in the past as well because he was doing it with Mandy and Laurel but I don't think he ever intended to bang either. I would even say he "c" teased Mandy because she was clearly into hooking up with him but it didn't appear he was going to do anything with her, especially once she told him she liked to be choked the fuck out.

Really loving this show so far. Might be my favorite new show of the season. Each episode gets better and better.

I have been called a c-tease by a woman before. C being a word I will not use here. I don't think that works in this situation though. I have also been called a cock tease by a man before. In both cases it was unwarranted as I have never knowingly hit on or flirted with ANYONE in my life. However just being friendly was misinterpreted by members of both sexes in my personal life. That is not what I am talking about. I am talking about men and woman who knowingly use their sexuality to gain whatever outcome they want without ever having any intention of doing anything with the victim of their machinations. If there is an accepted term I would like to know so I am educated against possibly offending someone.

Magnum P.I. (2018) - General Discussion

Been watching Season 1 of the original series and wow that original theme sucked huge ones! Also it is interesting seeing some little things like the adding of the code to the Ferrari from the original series. Of course it was the phone number in the pilot vs the birthday in the new show. As good as Jonathan Hillerman was, I really like Perdita Weeks version of Higgins and she is the best thing about the reboot in my opinion. Old Higgins was a little too one note at least so far in Season 1. -
I really want to like this show but it is hard. The acting is really bad, making the original show seem like Breaking Bad in comparison. Somehow the effects have not improved that much in 20 years apparently and the writing is just dismal. It doesn't seem to know what tone it wants so it keeps shifting way to fast and is inconsistent to say the least. Still in for now because I love supernatural stuff and to be shallow the girls are attractive but I hope they settle into their roles a little better and the writing is a little more consistent whatever tone they decide on.
-
While I agree the term has very negative connotations and is used in many cases that shouldn't apply, what is the term for someone who willingly flirts with another person and gives the impression they like them and want to get physical as a tool to get something they want without actually following through on the implied sexual action? I am not talking someone who changes their mind or decides they do not want to do something or doesn't understand they are coming off in that manner. I am talking about someone who from the start has no intention of doing anything but wants the person to believe they will in order to get something from them? Not arguing for the use of the term by any stretch but please educate me on the proper term for this action? Genuinely asking.

S01.E10: Chapter Ten: The Witching Hour
Unclejosh replied to Athena's topic in Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina
I read they didn't take a break in filming between Season 1 to Season 2 which Keirnan said really helped stay in character. She said she might have had trouble getting back into that headspace from the last scene in episode 10 months later if they took a break. -
His comment is similar to how I see people flip out over comments like "I hope your kid doesn't turn out like you, or I hope your kid doesn't see you acting like this" and the person goes nuts saying not to talk about their kids. They weren't disparaging your kids, they were disparaging YOU and hope that unlike you your children turn out to be better people. Now it is very possible in this case, Bananas said way more stuff that was shown and was way more hurtful and a direct slam. The producers are well known for protecting fan favorites especially Bananas from most of the nasty stuff he does and says. So if he has said something like "You should be happy your dad can't see you acting like a piece of shit" in addition to the apple falling from the tree bit, well that takes it to another level in my opinion.

Magnum P.I. (2018) - General Discussion

My only takeaway is the that Stephen Hill is not very good and it hurt the episode having him feature so much. I just didn't believe any of his lines or "emotions" in this episode. -
Devin said on Twitter what they didn't show was Bananas going around calling Nelson and them "pathetic retards" BEFORE which is a big part of what set Devin off and why he was so riled up and kept bothering him. I guess that is something he has called numerous cast members but somehow it never airs. Since multiple cast members have relatives with special needs and considering Bananas is supposed a spokesman for the Special Olympics and is his charity of choice, it has caused a lot of tension in the house. Kailah said he called her a "belligerent retard" yet it never aired and he never apologizes or takes ownership of these comments.

S13.E07: The Gang Does A Clip Show

The Dee ostrich will never fail to make me laugh uncontrollably. -
Yeah just the whole needing a new hip comment and him being clearly so beat up and broken down from repeated beatings but being stabbed in the side with a huge spike only requires a hot bath to get over really irks me. I have no problem accepting Raven has a soul demon or whatever inside of her but I cannot get over the injury thing on my superhero shows. Doesn't bother me as much for regular action shows/movies but for some reason it just grates in superhero/fantasy stuff. Weird I know. At least say that injection has an accelerated healing factor or something.
-
Knowing nothing about the characters Hawk and Dove before this episode, aren't they supposed to have powers? I looked them up after and they are supposed to have enhanced strength and healing abilities which if true is one of my biggest peeves when it comes to live action superhero portrayals. They always nerf their powers and they LOVE showing the physical affects of the beatings the heroes take but that actually takes me more out of the story than if there were no affects at all. Because if they don't have accelerated healing than they should have a LOT more damage than they show so don't even address it in my opinion. It is one of the reasons why I can't stand the Daredevil series. To me his lack of serious injuries is more unbelievable than a man with impervious skin and super strength, or a guy with a glowing fist, or a woman who is super strong and has other superhuman attributes.

She is also losing her hair and if you noticed on last night's episodes her eyebrows were noticeably fake. I definitely think her makeup and hair changes almost weekly depending on how her health issues are affecting her appearance in real life. I do think maybe they are overcompensating or maybe she likes the way it looks. It is possible it looks different in person, not to mention in dailies prior to all the color grading and post processing they do.

CT is confirmed as well.

Yeah if you are a first time buyer you can get a home loan without a down payment for sure. I don't know about if you previously owned a home.

Joss is also a huge fame whore even trying to work with the thirstiest woman ever Dani Victor in faking a relationship to try and get cast on one of those Exes shows. I think he is known for doing that based on social media posts. And yes he dumped water on Cara Maria which escalated the fight she was in with the LLs.

Sylvia has some luck because that is the second time she has had physical contact with another cast member and nothing happened. I still do not understand how she got away with choking Madison the fuck out to the point of unconsciousness and stayed in the Real World house. Meanwhile Tony and Camila who never even really touched each other in their fight both got the boot a few years ago. What Sylvia did to Madison was a bad or worse than anything CT has done. I think the only reason she got away with the headbutt was technically Marie placed her forehead against hers first but ALSO it was so late in the game PLUS she was partnered with Joss who they seem to want to be the next CT or Zach. If she was partnered with another female I think it may have been more of an issue.

Amanda's sense of entitlement rivals Bananas. Amanda not understanding that Zach had only 1 team he needed to save and Amanda had 3 PLUS the throwaway vote of Jozea and Da'vonne makes my mind boggle at her lack of compromise and her subsequent outrage at the outcome of her refusal to do so. She was arrogant due to the numbers her alliance had PLUS thinking that she had one of the best male partners in the game so she was sure she would make the final and never have to go in at all. I know Zach has had many misogynist and douche-bag moments over the years but I think in this case he would have acted the same exact way if his partner was male and acted like Amanda did. Zach saying fuck it and choosing his friend over winning and seeing Amanda's face frozen in shock and utter confusion that she wasn't going to get her way is one of the best things the show has aired all season.

Was that Josh from Young & Hungry?

I enjoyed this episode but in light of all the recent news with DW I was kinda frustrated because when he wants to be, he is really good and I thought he was great in this episode. So it bums me out how much he hates doing it and just quit leaving hundreds of people in the lurch. For those enjoying SWS in this role, I would recommend the movies Goon and Goon 2. He plays a slightly dim-witted semi-pro hockey enforcer and I think he is really good in it. The movies especially the first one are good as well.

Not sure if this was addressed above, but Marie was in the bed with Kyle to stop Ashley from getting in there who was trying to fuck him again, probably to spite Cara Maria and Marie was having her back by getting into the bed first. They were not cuddling and Cara Maria and Marie agreed to let Marie continue to shit talk Cara Maria to the Lavenders to keep her spot with them and not lose that due to being partners with CM. So she knew what Marie was doing and was appreciative of it. Despite their own issues Marie had her back.
