  1. They are new this year because of Covid. They are taking the place of Regionals and Sectionals to decide what skaters get to go to Nationals. The rules of how it works is listed here. It is pretty complicated. Basically the top five finishers in each discipline from last years Nationals and the top four from the ISP Points Challenge get a bye, and the rest come from these competitions. I'm even weirder. I (or my picture) was one of the cardboard cutouts!
  2. According to Sasukepedia, Jessie Graf did not finish 12th but was listed that way since He Who Shall Not Be Named finished in the top 12. Also Jeri D'Aurelio was a substitute for Rachael Goldstein, who broke her finger between qualifying and the semi-final filming. Sasukepedia also reported that Julius Ferguson withdrew because he tested positive for COVID-19 and Ethan Swanson was not allowed to compete because he was in close contact to someone who had tested positive. You would think that, with all these missing competitors, they could have shown the full run of all those who completed the course.
  3. The Grand Prix event in France has been canceled. At least Skate America is going forward this weekend. That may be the only skating competition we'll get to see for a long time. I wonder how they will decide the Olympic placements if they don't have World's in the spring.
  4. I know that television never lets the reality of the law get in the way of a good story and I don't know Canadian law, but there's no way Bash's landlord would have been able to put his furniture out on the street so soon after a bounced rent check. Once he accepted the past due rent, the whole process would have to start again. But I guess Bash getting an eviction notice wouldn't have been as dramatic.
  5. If you made fun of the Mighty Clarissa, you deserved to be admonished. She was awesome. Every once in a while I wonder how she is doing.
  6. Apparently Ontario has had a spike of Covid-19 cases and issued restrictions for the next 30 days on the number of people who can gather together in recreation venues. There was no way Skate Canada could comply with the restrictions.
  7. I think he was just an ordinary patient whose only purpose was to show Bash had a blackout. Too many hook ups in this episode for my taste. I don't need a Canadian Grey's Anatomy.
  8. This is going to be the most angsty dance ever seen!
  9. Sorry, I did post the 2019-2020 television schedule. That's what I get for trusting the USFSA website without reading it carefully.
  10. So do you think they would accept "What is the island where Haiti and the Dominican Republic are located? for FJ?" Guess not. Those of a certain age (*cough* old *cough*) might know Abraham from the controversy over the Abraham/Isaac statue as the May 4, 1970 memorial at Kent State (in O-Hi-O).
  11. As speculated by @emmawoodhouse above, figure skating coverage is moving from NBC Sports Gold to Peacock Premium. This is the notice I just got: FIGURE SKATING PASS UPDATE We want you to hear it from us first – the Figure Skating Pass content moves to Peacock Premium for the 2020-21 season. Follow your favorite athletes all season long with Peacock Premium. You can also stream hundreds of movies and thousands of episodes all in one subscription. Due to this platform change, we will not auto-renew your NBC Sports Gold subscription. As a 2019-20 Figure Skating Pass subscriber, you’ll continue to have access to over 350 hours of on-demand replays from past competitions, including the 2020 Toyota U.S. Figure Skating Championships, the 2019-20 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating and the 2019 World Figure Skating Championships, on NBC Sports Gold through December 31, 2020.
  12. 1/5, no * The worst part is that I answered quickly all the FJs with total confidence that I was right and then tanked on all but Friday's. But I was so close to being right (eg GB for UK, Superior for Gitche Gumee). As my mother Good Queen Marie used to say, right church, wrong pew!
  13. Grand Prix Final have been postponed. No surprise, really.
  14. Phil's tweet about being the Final Jeopardy on Friday.
  15. No, I haven't seen it. What's odd about it?
  16. 4/5, 1* (sadly sitting alone at the Golf Fans Table).
  17. So did we put the credentials issue to bed with last night's episode? I hope so. I mean, it's not likely they are going to have Bashir be demoted to the maintenance crew. Although, as @zillabreeze indicated above, "Suits" made it an issue for most of its seasons. But we know Bashir has the credentials and Mike did not.
  18. 2/5. I might try to claim some credit in the Barry/Berry controversy in that I did say B-E-R-R-Y, but that was for Chuck Berry, so no go.
  19. Actually, that was a pretty conservative outfit compared to what Johnny usually wears to skating competitions. The top reminded me of one of his competitive skating costumes. And maybe my eyes are failing me in my old age, but it took a while for me to realize the pants were mesh.
  20. I burst out laughing when Baby Yoda reached out and closed up his pram. Smart kid!
  21. Not only did Nick Hansen finish the course, but he was the first (and only) to climb the Mega Wall. It doesn't seem right that he doesn't advance. But at least he has $10,000 to console him.
