  1. @SeriousPurrs : Welcome! I'm glad you are posting. This board has just been me. I did a rewatch of Voyager last year, and I won't lie, it hasn't held up well. I found only a handful episodes that I loved. I watched almost all the episodes too. I think it definitely had gems, but for me, TNG is still the best and has held up well (even with all the 90sness). I will say that I still like Janeway, the Doctor, and Seven of Nine. I didn't mind Tom either but he couldn't carry an episode.
  2. Got mine. So what do we do first day, we read it and then we say who we want to kill?
  3. Bronson turned down the role so they gave it to Dalton; he thought he was too young. Dalton does feel like Lazenby. I quite like Lazenby in OHMS. I thought he did well. He and Rigg had chemistry, but I think it was hate-chemistry from reading those behind the scenes stuff.
  4. Back to Whoopi, please. You can talk about EH in the Former Hosts topic. Thanks!
  5. Will you have picture of me that you carry? As your nemesis, I counsel you to not buy it; a lot of people complained about that actually. It's not really a novel so much as page after page of short summaries of what happens to these characters. If you do read it, please give a your report. That's sad. I know she was doing it for the money, but no need to be nasty to the people who've supported you for years. She really was not giving any effort to it at the end.
  6. I think John more or less proposed that except he said "Your mother's family" which is Cesar. Daya was less optimistic. I can't remember when they talked about this. I zoned out during most of this plot. @TogetherForGood , There's a topic for S3 Wishes and Speculation.
  7. Oh right, she doesn't leave, but her and Sookie have a sort of "See you around" ending. They aren't exactly the type to go on girlfriend dates, but I hope they hang out. I think the other daughter is there to A) Protect Sookie and B) Remind Sookie that Eric has a type: blonde, fierce, and fighting women. That is the point in the books where Sookie starts to realize that Eric always intended to make her. ETA: I forgot that Harris published "After Dead" #13.5 which I refuse to read, but looked on Good Reads for the summaries: Sookie and Sam get married and have four kids. Eric becomes attached to his arranged wife. Bill becomes King of Louisiana. The GR reviews are really bitter. It's quite funny and sad that I also read all 13 books and some of those short stories.

    The Classics

Maurice is the only Forster I haven't read. I love him! I guess I forgot since I read most of his oeuvre as a teen. I also enjoy Wilde. The plays are fun. I'd consider Wodehouse classic. We can be laid back about defining what is a classic.
  9. American in Paris: I am glad I am not the only person who didn't love this. Yes, there is some great music and dancing, but the dance sequences were loooong. There was virtually no plot and no chemistry between the leads. I much prefer Singin in the Rain which is my favourite Kelly movie. I'm an Astaire girl myself. I love The Red Shoes. The ending!
  10. I actually liked this season. Probably one of my favourites from the series. I really enjoyed most of the Lex centric eps including Lexmas.
  11. Ten episodes. Sam and Sookie don't get married and even Sookie isn't sure if they will be together forevah, but for all intents purposes, that's the end game. The book series basically died a slow, painful death. The last book was contrived and full of cameos of previous characters. Eric and Pam do leave, but he is barely in the book. Eric is shackled into a two centuries contract marriage with a Queen in another state because of his horrible maker and he is an asshole who wants power blah blah blah. Eric does make a deal that no vampire harms Sookie. A lot of minor characters from ages ago try to kill Sookie again.

    The Classics

This a topic for ye olde books. For the purposes of this thread, we'll say books before WWII, but we can be easy going about what you define as a classic. This can be a starting point for various books and classic works. As for spoilers, use your own judgement but most of these works are in the public domain any way. Some of my favourite dead authors: Jane Austen, Elizabeth Gaskell, Alexandre Dumas, Thomas Hardy, Leo Tolstoy, Shakespeare, Homer, W. Somerset Maugham, and many more. Currently, I am trying to read Rudyard Kipling's Kim. I've been on the same chapter since March due various reasons and it's a bit slow.
  13. Tom and Lorenzo mentioned motherhood as a theme in this season in their first recap. I saw it throughout. Someone in another thread mentioned that the reason Vee took over the black group easily is that there was no dominant mother figure in that group. The whites had Red and the Latinas had Gloria. I think there is something to be sad about prison mothers rather than prison wives. It's not just protecting them, it's making them feel supported and appreciated. One of my favourite prison mother/daughter moments is when Nicky went to Red with the heroin. It took a lot for her give it up and she went to the one person she trusted most. She probably loves Red more than her own mother.
  14. Yes, Andy told Adilyn not to let Jessica in. Jessica agreed with that assessment. Adilyn trusts Jessica in spite of what happened which is why she didn't want Jessica to die and took that risk to step outside. I think that was the only time I was a bit on edge in the episode.
  15. I rewatched some of it last year. It holds up really well just like B:TAS. I thought Unlimited had a number of strong episodes though I was less interested in some of the supes more than the others. Edited the title to be All Episodes Discussion. If you want a witty addendum to it, let me or another mod know.
  16. The discussion about Luke Grimes has become off topic and unnecessarily heated. We really have no idea the specific reason he left the show. If you would really like to continue this conversation, take it to the character topic or create a casting topic. Even then, do not be passive aggressive or a dick to your fellow posters.
  17. A lot of my favourites have already been mentioned, but I really like the Astaire/Rogers musicals. I saw all of them and yes, quality varies, but the best such as Top Hat and Shall We Dance make up for it. Love for The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. It's been awhile since I've seen a good movie musical though.
  18. I actually don't have cable so I can't watch Jeopardy! live anymore, but I was wondering if anyone watches any other trivia shows. I love the UK "University Challenge". It was based off the US College Bowl, but they continued it in the UK. It can be very difficult, but I always feel incredibly good when I get a question the other eight contestants (on two teams) don't get.
  19. I actually think Dalton is really conventionally attractive albeit in a brooding, dark way. He was a wonderful Mr Rochester in a BBC mini series from the early 80s. I actually thought he was too good looking to be Rochester, but he acted really well in that role. Dalton's Bond, similar to Craig's Bond, is dangerous. Yes, this is a ludicrous movie franchise, but I always felt like Bond could actually look dangerous when called for. I also felt he brought grittiness to the role especially in the 80s.
  20. I agree that he is not conventionally attractive (he's actually become less appealing), but there is a significant portion of mostly older women (like my mother) who find him appealing. It's very relative, but there is something reassuring about his TV manner. He has decent bedside manner with his guests; he interacts with them constantly on the show. YMMV, but I can see why he appeals to the demographic. He appeared to be the well educated, interested, and soothing Doctor most people wish they could have.
  21. To be fair to Adilyn, she is not even a year old. Fairies seem to be prone to a certain level of flakiness. Maybe Eric turned Willa because did look like Nora. This is an UO, but I liked Nora. Hated her flashback episode, but I basically like every member of the Godric family line. Not a Sookie fan, and I agree it's not fair that the town hates her. I mean, Bill can be said he as much as to blame as she is. I think that's what bothered me and has always, other characters get blamed, but Bill always seem to come off free of it. He even gets to be a media darling more than once while Sookie is still hated by the town.
  22. She is definitely one of my favourites along with Nicky. She is beautiful. In her flasback, her wardrobe was great and it showed off her body much more than her prison grey sweater. She has swagger, beauty, skills and confidence. More of her, please.
  23. Yeah, we were just being persnickety because I personally think this is not one of the best D'Artagnans I've seen. This episode didn't pull me in, but I started watching episode 2 so I had the benefit of two episodes to judge. It is a pretty show. I also like how dirty it is as a BBC period piece.
  24. Indeed. I also loved Kathryn's "I keep a box of condoms in the downstairs bathroom and I never count them" which was funny, sweet and probably awkward for Bay. I hope she filed it for later though.
  25. What I loved about this storyline was that the Baby Daddy/BF looked tough and somewhat indifferent, but he never was. In the visitation where Ruiz told him how to deal with this woman asking for money, he nodded proudly and listened intently to her indicating they were a team. When she tells her baby that Daddy must talk to her every day, Baby Daddy is clearly verklempt. The actors sold it really well. I've seen the BD in other things, but he made it. I wonder if we'll get a backstory on them next season. On the surface, their relationship seemed to have been one of the most healthiest romantic relationships on the show.
