  1. I tried watching the last season over the holidays. We did bits of three episodes but I found too many of the contestants grating e.g. Claudean. I know it's highly edited but I don't know how Manu has managed to stay engaged and polite in all these dinner parties over the years.
  2. January 23, 2024. (Sorry that I accidentally made two threads for this)
  3. I didn't really like this episode after the last few which were better. I like Olivia and I wish they used her more. The writing for David is still very much a miss for me even though the actor is trying. I continue to like Alan whenever he is onscreen and Kelsey is consistent. I have no feeling about Eve or Freddy. There were too many cheap jokes: the hockey jock, the drunk jokes, and the epi pen situation. Freddy is first responder and Frasier is a physician! They should have grabbed that epi pen from David.
  4. UK Original Air Date: November 28, 2023. US Netflix Date: December 1, 2023.
  5. I wondered the same and other fans on Reddit did the research. Frasier and Lilith got engaged during Cheers but they married off screen.
  6. Yes, that part was less believable because Frasier and Lilith were aligned on co-parenting. Maybe that did change once Freddy became an adult so they saw each other even less. I also didn't like Freddy reacting to them not getting along or joking about liking stories about orphans. They are intense parents but good ones. Frasier has always maintained that Lilith is a great mother. It's really consistent with what we know of Lilith from Cheers and in this episode as someone who is very thoughtful and caring about her loved ones. I could believe that Freddy would open up to her emotionally about his life after he dropped out of Harvard. To me, Lilith and Frasier are the One True Pairing (OTP). None of Frasier's other romantic love interests had the chemistry or compatibility he has with Lilith. I really hope Bebe comes back at least once a season. I would be satisfied if this series ended with them even hinting they would get back together.
  7. I noticed this as well when watching Julia. Bebe was a dallet bancer and musical dancer and petite. I've seen other dancers age more quickly visually especially if they continue to be fit. I enjoyed the ep because of Lilith and Bebe. I always loved her on Frasier and Cheers. She has this surface coldness which is charming. It makes people respect, fear, and admire her. I would be the same.
  8. UK Original Air Date: November 21, 2023. US Netflix Date: November 24, 2023.
  9. Discussion of season 6 overall: what TPTB could have done, comparison to actual historical events, and what they missed out on. Future history and spoilers are allowed. Not for the discussion of the current BRF.
  10. I thought of that but the way Sylvie wanted things to end ("I grew up in apocalypses") made me think it wouldn't have changed her mind. They've traded one neutral evil god for a more neutral good god. I didn't care for Sylvie. I am just glad that they didn't revisit their odd romance thread and this became more of a Loki character show the last 2 eps. Yes, most of Ep 2-4 could be skipped. I actually liked Ep 5 more as it discussed Loki's character motivations. The show is best when focusing on the character and the relationships around Loki himself. I found the plotting around both seasons off and I am still confused about some things. I am really sad but story wise, it is a great end to Loki's arc. Tom Hiddleston's Loki has been one of the only characters I actually came to care about in the MCU in large part because I like Hiddleston as an actor. He always gave Loki a lot of depth and brilliance in the movies. The last couple of episodes has really showcased his range and they did give him great character development. It feels earned and right that he would do this for his friends that he made along the way especially Mobius and the TVA. I felt more vested in the Mobius/Loki friendship than I did in the Thor. Thor saw Loki as his brother first but Mobius really saw potential in Loki as someone who could help the TVA and did. Great and glorious purpose indeed. On the whole, good job to the show runners, the cast, the music, and the designers. It's been a good ride for the most part. I have learned to have low expectations from the MCU especially in regards to character work, but they did stick the landing here. Hopefully they won't ruin it like they did WandaVision and I'm glad Hiddleston can close this chapter at least for awhile.
  11. Reviewers who got screeners said that they were told that they wouldn't be getting anything for ep 5. All this buildup is fascinating. The short preview does hint at Rick Prime stuff.
  12. There were a couple of rare instances including when Martin leered at Daphne's Korean friend but John really leaned into the creepiness for the joke. I was never comfortable with the idea of Martin telling Ronee how cute he found her when she was a teenager. I wasn't a Ronee Martin shipper in general. Frasier has always had a little tendency to be a little creepy with his dates because of his ego. When this episode started and he was getting along with June and the opera singer, I knew he'd have to spectacularly mess this up somehow. I think Kelsey leans into this but I do think if they keep on this Frasier dating plot, he should get dates closer to his age. Women over 60 do date and look for companionship. I liked the romance between Meryl and Martin Short in "Only Murders" and they are both older than Kelsey Grammar.
  13. It takes a lot of writing skill and collaborative soft skills to be a ghost writer. Most ghost writers start off as experienced writers who get noticed by publishers for their versatility and flexibility. You have to shape your prose to the person you are writing about so it requires creativity. Also you need to deal with celebrities or public figures so it is more client facing than some other jobs. She could be an entertainment journalist maybe. I think Rory could also be a good administrator or executive assistant if assigned tasks are more the thing. That's the kind of work you can build on over time. I did appreciate Rory having a quarter life crisis in the revival because it was common after the great recession. The only difference was that her economic background allowed her to waffle about while the rest of us had to find work and eventually a career to survive.
