  1. I recognize that the actress who plays Kayla excels at that particular comedic style for that character, it's just not my thing.
  2. Having just been all the way through this process, I can attest to the fact that it can take a really long time. My mother started having obvious cognitive decline at least 15 years before she died and she was pretty far into it for nearly a decade. And she was not a joy to manage or take care of. I'm just as happy they aren't showing that part in TIU because I couldn't handle it after having been through it IRL.
  3. Well, you are absolutely right about that for me. I hate this character. I don't care if he's considered a newbie or not. IDK if it's the writing or the acting but I've disliked everything WRT Phillip and it's not believable to me. I feel like I need to see this actor in something else to see if I just don't like the actor. But also, if all is complete somberness and dread all the time, one can't get through these situations. I had no problem with Sophie and Beth mocking their spouses because it actually was a scenario set up to show these exact personality traits that these spouses knew so well and how the they would be resolved as the sibs found a way to come together and find a workable solution they could all agree on. Edited to add. Beth and Sophie's mocking of Randle and Kevin's back and forth actually helped accentuate how they would predictably be butting heads so that when they came to an amicable solution it highlighted how much they had personally matured.
  4. This show is killing me lately. Also, I dislike Phillip.
  5. Boy is that true. I almost feel like the show is complete for me now. That was my favorite episode of the series.
  6. Thanks for this. It makes more sense now that Howard was letting Jimmy get in a few. But I still don't understand how he came to the clear conclusion Jimmy wouldn't let things go. I just need to watch again.
  7. I just don't know how I'm expected to feel about that fight scene. It was set up like Howard was far superior. But then Jimmy, although in a much less sophisticated style, got in a few good licks Howard should've been able to avoid. Then suddenly Howard is appearing to be far superior again. I'm not used to being this confused over the writers' intention. Can anybody help explain it to me?
  8. My thoughts exactly. And after they decide it was great, Barry would have already gone back to the old destructive stuff. If this ends up being true, I'm wondering if Gene will get more acting jobs because of it.
  9. I pretty much enjoyed all of this. The writing was decent and Benedict elevated whatever he was given. He's such a consummate performer of many talents.
  10. Yeah, he and Ruth, the ones trying to "break good" get killed. I feel so jaded with the world to accept that as the way it goes.
  11. I've come to accept this Nicky's parents not knowing he was alive or at least we aren't shown anything related to it is a just a big plot hole they aren't going to attempt to fix. It's bothered me since we were shown that Nicky was indeed alive.
  12. My own takeaway from that last scene was the corruption of the family was complete, with Jonah finally coming into the fold full force by killing Mel to “save the family.” Even more meaningful because he killed the man who found out the truth about Ben, who he loved and held his death against his mother. They are all complicit now, even their 15 year old son.
  13. Thank you this is us. They showed us how to feel instead of trying to tell us how to feel.
  14. At least I didn’t feel like I needed a tranquilizer while watching this weeks ep, unlike last week.
  15. The funniest part to me was when Barry went into a fast food place to get Gene food and opened the trunk, gave him his food and drink and said, “Here’s your change.” He made Gene pay for his food lol. That whole scene was shot funny.
  16. Judging by how fast she spilled the beans on Ruth, Marty and Wendy will need to “get rid” of Clare. And there will keep being more Clares who they will have to take care of in order to “ save the family.” Because that’s the way they’re living their lives now. And that’s how they justify it. And they’re all on board.
  17. Like others have said, it’s not an ending I hated the most of any ending for any series, but for that quality of a show, they sure didn’t stick the landing imo. Really didn’t like how Ruth went out. Really disappointed at the car crash. Jesus, come on. Not even a scratch on any of them. Why did they even include that? So many loose or illogical endings. It just didn’t tie things up well enough for me. Very disappointed.
  18. Thanks! I hunted it down. I'll use this source next time.
  19. Where did you find this ep? I listen to these but don't see episode 3.
  20. One thing I really enjoyed in Nacho's last speech was how he completely dissed Gus, saying the possibility of him being involved in the attack on Lalo was a joke, like Gus wasn't up to it. At the same time he was exonerating Gus, he sure got his barb in on it. It was a skillful execution and I'm sure it stung Gus.
  21. Oil I'm guessing by how hard it was to get off.
  22. It's such a huge testament to the brilliance of this show that despite *everything* pointing to Nacho's imminent demise (with the exception of his mention by Saul in BB) that people en masse believed that he was going to get out of it alive. Truly masterful storytelling. At least he died believing Lalo was dead.
  23. The funny thing is, neither side got fooled anyway, despite all the trouble on both sides.
  24. I probably haven't thought about this as thoroughly as you have but it seems like they could've still set things up in the safe the exact same way except for telling them where Nacho was by including the hotel number. If they had already killed him, they wouldn't need to worry about the cousins torturing him for info before killing him. It just seems risky.
