  1. I know that this is a stupid question but can we assume that Gene telling Barry on the phone at the beginning,"I got you" meant, I snared you, and did Barry hear it that way? Or could he have interpreted it like, I've got your back? His behavior afterward was certainly bizarre enough to make me think he understood he'd been had. I just wondered if I understood it correctly. Sometimes I feel like I'm not sophisticated enough to understand everything going on in this show. Especially as Bill Hader's vision for the storytelling gets more complicated.
  2. She had a (apparently false) positive on her blood screening tests. Probably alpha fetoprotein.
  3. I'm not disputing whether she's in a window to tell people yet. Just that she's in her second trimester. I will say she'll have to tell people soon because it's hard for most people to hide it by 20 weeks. Of those screening tests for genetic defects, alpha fetoprotein has a high false positive rate and is frequently the one that causes people to get an amniocentesis to confirm genetic defects. This actually happened to me but back then they couldn't do amnio until a bit later, after 20 weeks IIRC so I didn't get it. Still had a healthy baby. So for Shiv, she's got the green light to continue her pregnancy and it's getting late to abort it, although she still could. But it seems like she wants the baby? And didn't she make some comment about Logan holding or rocking grandchildren and how that's never going to happen now? I'll have to watch again, but I thought I picked up on that. Maybe she thought the grand baby would help her position with Logan. Since these people never seem to do anything for normal, genuine reasons.
  4. Amniocentesis is done weeks 15-20 so she in early second trimester. According to the timeline it could easily be Tom's during the "Even though I don't really love you" sex. When Ton said Logan died trying to fish his iPhone out of a clogged toilet I wondered if Roman's fear that his voicemail caused Logan's heart event is true. Maybe not if it was a PE. But if he was so upset and threw his phone in the toilet maybe.
  5. Not that this tracks consistently with the show but the fake obit the LA Times wrote for Logan Roy claimed he was 84 when he died. He was 80 at his birthday in the first season. Brian Cox is only 76 so not sure how he felt about that but he was probably fine with it. It's hard to tell his age actually.
  6. I know this is late into this topic but I keep thinking about Tom telling Kendall that he's seen Kendall get fucked a lot but he's never seen Logan get fucked once. So Logan goes out without ever getting fucked over. How would he have weathered all the media changes? He never has to be in that position really now. I mean, we can see it's coming, but he avoids it by dying. Kind of brilliant.
  7. Actually Shiv is the youngest, although that's hard to believe.
  8. Loved this on the plane (paraphrasing): Karolina: I think someone should call Matsson and tell him Logan is delayed. Karl: Oh, he's heavily fucking delayed alright.
  9. I have some thoughts about Willa. She was a hired escort or sex worker or whatever. She probably lost her aspirations for a true fairytale love a long time ago. Her values are just different. This is probably the very best outcome for her. She is real. I probably like her the best of anyone on the show. And I liked how the sibs seemed to think Conner should stick with her. Actually they said something to the effect of, you can't do better, but from them this was acceptance and endorsement.
  10. Odd that Roman was the only sib (of the three who got to "speak" to Logan at the end) who wasn't able to say he loved him yet he was the only one who would go see him.
  11. I think I laughed more at the diner sketch than I have for years on SNL. Those people are pretty realistic in certain circles. I kinda love James Austin Johnson. He's a real standout.
  12. Apparently not since SNL dedicated so much on the show to doing that. I'm not complaining. It wasn't too much for me. But I'm surprised it hasn't been brought up since they used him as the butt of so many jokes.
  13. Excellent question. My only answer would be she might've had her passport with her in case she needed to show it for any reason. I've carried mine in my pocketbook before.
  14. As the scene when Tanya found the gun and went out shooting unfolded, I was struck by how even careening around shooting willy nilly until you ran out of bullets, you can still kill almost everyone on the boat. Then right when you think stupid and clumsiness miraculously wins, it doesn't.
  15. And why in the hell was that picture left out for her to see? That doesn't track with the scam.
  16. It's not a whodunnit but it's also not exactly clear to me what it is. I love the way MW is spinning this tale. I don't know what's going to happen except apparently Daphne is spared from dying.
  17. So far I like this season better than last.
  18. Well, I liked it. But I was also scared to death the whole time at what he might say. I am a Chappelle fan in general though.
  19. I didn't post this in media because it is directly related to Jimmy's behavior from a clinical standpoint for those interested. This guy really has a deadpan delivery that kind of grows on you. He has over a million subscribers so I don't think I'm alone in thinking that. He's a psychologist who speaks on the behavior of all sorts of people, fictional, criminal, politicians (although he is very apolitical in his assessments), etc. He does a thorough background analysis that I also enjoy. This was made a few episodes into season five. I hope he does another updated one since the finale has aired and the character's journey is over.
  20. No comment on the point about the kitchen but Kim looked out of the room they were in to see if anyone was looking before she lit up the cigarette. I'm pretty sure it wasn't allowed.
  21. OMG #FreeSaulGoodman is trending on twitter. Hope people who haven't seen the end don't mind being spoiled.
  22. Thanks! I was aware of this but I'm pretending I don't know it. To me, the ending is so beautiful and open to interpretation that I want it to be exactly as the creators intended in the end. This, of all scenes, was the most important to get just right and I appreciate their eventual choice as the right one to end the whole series. The descent of Jimmy into Saul was very painful, even for the actor. Kim's descent is not as dramatic but still painful. Both characters have a darkness in their past that they carry in their heart as a secret. Somehow they recognize this dark secret in each other even if they don't understand it. Together, the darkness finds its way out despite there being good in each of them. To have an ending scene where there's hope for something better in each of their lives, in each of their hearts, yet on some level their love is still recognized was a happy ending for me. The scene where they share a cigarette harkens back to these old feelings of their dark connection. The last scene, for me, indicated a new connection where the good has won out but the love is still there. Their love finally transcended its dark beginning.
  23. I love that interpretation! I also noticed that in the season six opening where they're emptying Saul's mansion that his large cardboard cut out is also using finger pistols. (Also fun that they put that in the dumpster and Gene is caught in a dumpster.) So it is a reoccurring theme.
  24. No, you're right. Not micro-analyzing. I mean, I'm micro-analyzing to keep harping on this when everybody else seems satisfied. I did see that difference in the finger guns but didn't know what it meant in terms of ending the last three seasons that way (generally).
  25. This is a beautiful take on the last scene. As I read or heard somewhere else, in the end, it was a love story. An epic love story.
