  1. Sign of the times.
  2. I thought the kid was the same kid in the previous episode-- her nephew? Is that not true? Edit: I checked IMDB. Seems it's not the same kid. I thought it would be a great plot point if it was... but it wasn't. Alas! Also, I should not binge a show when I'm too tired to keep my eyes open at all times.
  3. I'm assuming that the lack of blood is because he was already dead when left there. And if the cuts were made elsewhere, and after he was dead, he would not be bleeding. Also, who knows what the poison was? Maybe a coagulant?
  4. The "Extended Pilot" aired last night on USA, and I can't remember the original aired pilot well enough to say what was added, but what I can say is that it was SO GOOD. I remember I liked it, but I had forgotten just how much, and how much the quality has declined over the seasons. I think it's really hard to sustain a "fish out of water" story over the long term, because the outsider starts to fit in more and then what is your story? I am still looking foreard to the new season (whenever it finally airs) but it's been a while since the show was anywhere near as great as the pilot, and that makes me a little sad. Having my memory refreshed about how much better the beginning was, kind of makes the bar higher for the return, and if they can live up to that higher expectation, that would be awesome, but I am trying not to get too hopeful about it, which, again, is sad.
  5. The "Extended Pilot" aired on USA last night, followed by a very brief commentary by Alan Tudek. They are promoting re-watching the show from the beginning on Peacock, saying that by the time you finish, the new season will be available-- but they don't give a date, so I guess that's not determined yet.
  6. Josh is getting stronger. I wonder if it's because of getting better with his buzzer timing. I was shocked to get everything in the business word category. Thinking about the issue of replying in languages other than English, I propose they add a bonus scoring incentive along these lines: if you answer correctly in a language other than English, you get a bonus equal to double the point score of whatever the clue was-- but it can only be used once per game. Not once per person per game, but once per game by whoever uses it correctly first, period. So you'd have to use strategy to decide when to use it, and on what clue. It would add a little interest, without becoming a total distraction with constant work for the judges to look it up and then have Ken clarify and translate for the audience. It's a small thing, like the Daily Doubles, but it would be an added challenge. Even if it was used every game, it wouldn't be a problem. And if it was only used once in a while, it would be like a wildcard adding interest.
  7. Who is replacing Amber at the WHCD? The warmed over corpse of Bob Hope?
  8. Him ignoring Betty when she greeted him, and then closing her out of the bathroom when he went in there to wash the shirt, really got to me.
  9. If it's one of their spouses, I don't see how they would get away with acting liek nothing happened. They would already be under suspicion if their spouse disappeared, but if they then looked like they were carrying on as though nothig had happened? MAJOR red flag. Whosever spouse it was would have to be acting sad, and people would be asking them all the time how they were doing, and if there was any news. It would be waaaaay more of a thing. It has to be someone none of them are expected to be connected to that closely.
  10. I just think it doesn't add up. If the network really wanted the show to continue, they'd find a new host. So something is hinky about the story.
  11. A gospel choir in a public school? I would personally try to get her fired if she did that.
  12. I feel like the show used the Watson hook to attract viewers, but really there's nothing about it that has anything to do with the holmes aesthetic. Yes, they inserted Shinwell and Moriarty, but they feel like theya re on a totally different show and are just there to keep a plausible connection to the "Watson" device. It's basically a medical show about a team that takes weird cases. But the medicine is so nonsensical that a lot of the time, they could make up a fake disease and it would be more credible than using the common conditions they allege to have caused the symptoms. Long QT, sickle cell, teratoma, food allergy-- they make these things sound a lot more complex, obscure, and exotic than they are.
  13. I used to foster/adopt elder cats. They were awesome. I hope Norbert's family appreciates him.
  14. They could have found a new host if they really wanted to, couldn't they? I wonder if they renewed it but cut the budget even more and she decided not to take the deal they offered, knowing it was an insultingly low bid that nobody else would agree to either?

    The Americas

I don't know what blows my mind more-- the stuff the show shows us, or the fact tht they managed to get the footage.
  16. I don't think he's feeling guilty. I think he's feeling haunted, and I think he's feeling afraid.
  17. I wonder who is teaching Gregory's class. When Janine was at the District, the subs were all terrible. One of the best parts of popcorn is being able to load it with seasonings. If her job at Abbott was insignificant for her income, that means Ava was there because she loved it.
  18. I like that they are casting a variety of types of people. I like seeing people of a variety of personalities, ages, affects, and types.
  19. Maslaney was unbelievably good in Orphan Black. She played so many different characters that I lost count and each of them was amazingly rendered. Here's Mr. Clean. Except for the earring, and maybe Josh having slightly less prominent eyebrows, he's a dead ringer!
  20. I would have hoped that being an activist would be valued by some colleges, and any college that doesn't respect civil disobedience is going to be piss poor on any political science or history courses. And so, I hope the outcome is that the "safety school" rejected her, but some more rigorous school will be happy to have her. She should have owned it, though, instead of hoping nobody noticvd. If she talks about the reasons she was out there, and frames it in an intelligent way, she comes off as defending the principle, rather than "breaking the law". It maakes her seem more intelligent, and an asset to any community worth being part of.
  21. I do think it's ridiculous that the head admin of a hospital, with a banquet sized dining room, can't find a room in his house for b oth living children-- Katie should have her room, and if they want to keep Danny's shrine, ok. Find space. Get a bigger house if you have to. It's probably wrong that he kept the house that he and Amy shared, anyway. Move out, start over in a new house with your new family. Make sure it's big enough for all your kids. TV loves an affair! And a dilemma! I actually like this show a lot. But some of it is annoying.
  22. I would love that, actually. On Celebrity Jeopardy, someone answered in French, got ruled wrong, and then the judges reversed the ruling and gave him credit. I realize ratings would probably tank, and it would require more work for the on the fly rulings and translations, but it would be kind of cool now and then. Anyone who can do well on this show has to be fluent in English to understand the clues, but if they were so good at going back and forth, it would introduce a real challenge to their competitors, also. When they are rules wrong, you'd have to know if what you want to say was already said, nor not. Yes, I like the idea but yes, I realize it would have a lot of complications and downsides.
  23. As a person who didn't want children and wouldn't be happy to have one forced on me, I'm sympathetic to his situation in that regard. But he is handling it very badly. He really should have dealt with his grief over Danny in some way other than swallowing it, though. It's ben years, and he has access to every possible kind of support and counseling. But TV likes its characters to be overlooking the obvious.
  24. It's okay. Nobody will be watching anyway. Anyone worth seeing would refuse the gig.
