  1. The only issue I have is Chloe's reaction. It was too muddled. While she was never the most expressive, given her recent deepened connection to Lucifer I would have expected something stronger or perhaps something that moved forward the idea that she was more than just some human...
  2. At some point this week she said something about ingredients not going together and I thought..."you mean like you and a judges slot on this show?" Ross played this well and it saved Mark. Jesse was delusional when he said he didn't think Ross would use the immunity. Maybe if he were on his own that would be true but with the chance it would sink Mark as well there is no way he was keeping that in his pocket
  3. Thank god they tightened up the show and gave the judges some training in live banter. The judge’s tattoos- Steve’s were good but I am not a fan of the “ooooo so evil” style. Anthony’s snake was weak but his head piece was pretty spectacular For me DJ did a great job on both of his pieces and deserved that win. As for the contestants I feel that Rolly was not in contention so it really was done to Juan and Josh. Both were well done but aesthetically I really preferred Juan’s. Won’t complain about the win for Josh but I would have gone the other way.
  4. Thing is for the most part he clearly could do what he claimed. I believe he was trying to integrate the soft steel more fully and brain froze. The others were hardly competent. At some point they need to have a qualifier to even get on the show or you will be left with this type of clown show. the fact that they even allowed the vet to continue when they explicitly said on a number of occasions that you can’t make a hard blade with the sprocket is crazy. They should have disqualified him.
  5. It is such a narrow definition of spring... for me with the melting of the snow there’s a long period of brown punctuated by land Mines left behind by careless dog owners. Hell around here I would advocate for something that resembles a cabane a sucre with all its corn snow, muddy trails and delicious amber/dark maple syrup. Moreover where are they getting all these multi seasonal fruits and cramming them into a spring theme. In most places berries, citrus and stone fruit are not going to overlap in spring.
  6. More so than Chloe falling for Pierce, the idea that he has fallen for Chloe is preposterous. As timelines go he would have conceived of and implemented his plan in AT MOST a couple of weeks. Given that Chloe was originally a means to an end he would have started with her as a tool then developed intense feelings in a few days. If they were really trying to be believable the moment he realized he was mortal and could have a regular relationship he should have made his way to his old watering hole and looked up that barmaid. Even better would be removing the mark resulted in rapid aging and shuffling off of that now mortal coil.
  7. The real trauma to the skin was the burden of having to carry that horrendous pinup for the rest of your life. Jason was clearly headed and shoulders above Rolly but balance had to be maintained. It really shouldn’t be that difficult to have seen the potential problems with the structure of the contest. Don’t try and make changes for the sake of change only to treat the audience like idiots.
  8. Spoiler tag for those in countries that don't show previews Even with his mellow time in LA and therapy with Dr. Linda, Lucifer is a massively powerful celestial being that ran Hell for a long time. He still needs to express that power...ie Maze should have been a quivering blob of goo after that revelation.
  9. Post bender Lucifer should be featured more frequently! The detachment from “normal” behaviour gives me hope for some epically wrathful behaviour.
  10. Licorice is a wonderful flavour! There are so many tired flavours used over and over that having that should have been a home run. Hell tone it down and think anise and you are golden.
  11. I'm surprised the editors allowed that particular thought to be made explicit. So many of the complaints levelled by the judges come back to this issue. This was especially true for the avant garde challenge where conception and validation of design integrity require much more time. Essentially what Ken said was a clarification of Josh's wheel and spoke comment. Merline has nothing interesting to say conceptually. As someone said she should find a quiet spot and just go on a lengthy origami retreat.
  12. Fabio and Anthony certainly outshone Ken by a mile. I would have given it to Anthony but was happy with the heaps of praise and the win for Fabio after that ridiculous grandmother comment. Josh keeps trying to be controversial and shock but every week the judges fail to give him that pleasure. From my perspective the shenanigans game is in full effect with Merline's escape. There was NOTHING good about that dress. It was time for her to go. When Georgina leaned over to Isaac to state she just couldn't fathom what Edmund was thinking I had to wonder if her own thinking/decision process shouldn't be questioned given her choice of spouse...
  13. Wow, hadn't seen the preview. They destroy the characterization of Saruman they built up from the aftermath of the mutiny. Either that or they are pressed for time.
  14. Saru is never going to believe Burnham's information. There will have to be some major slip up for Lorca to lose his loyalty especially given the parallels with Burnham's actions in the pilot episodes. The he show was getting so good and now they are boxing themselves in. They're also pooping the bed with the development of Stamits' storyline
  15. The need to give Weller a giant injection of Damien Scott and Jane a giant injection of STFU and you're off the show. A couple of spinoff shows, one with Roman roaming the world and the other with Patterson and Rich Dotcom getting up to various shenanigans would be very welcome. At this point Jane is a drag on this show. Too much baggage and pouty bitchiness. There can't possibly be another level of tattoos so all the essential components of her character are done.
  16. There is no excuse for Merline staying beyond " What you make doesn't actually matter." There was nothing redeeming about that spotty trash bag.
  17. I absolutely love German food and simply can't conceive Brother's monstrosity as part of a German menu. I think that Chris' situation was specific to this environment. Sure he may have alcohol in his restaurant but here is under stress and then thrown into the party atmosphere of Radler tasting. I think it is more of a confluence of events rather than staying away from alcohol altogether.
  18. If you are about to give some very disturbing news to a sweaty, twitchy long term Klingon detainee who is definitely hiding something- stay out of reach and prepare for shields up! Tilly is great. Burnham is either epically stupid or easily swayed by some sexy time. Boo either way. Lorca is ice cold but hours in a bug zapper may change his perspective.
  19. The the thing is I think that making fresh pasta, McGyvering you pasta shaper, and creating a delicious and unctuous sauce was better and better within the confines of the rules. Carrie did nothing unique. As she stated her dad had made cake in camp frequently. Moreover a cake in a cup is nothing special. I applaud her resourcefulness and the fact that she didn't give up on baking but what else could she do? Then there is the fact that her cake didn't sound appetizing. I have to confess I can't recall the entire description but there was something that put me off.
  20. The thing is it seems as though they were trying to draw out a story (uplifting or sob) to go along with the dish and drive a narrative. This is unnecessary. I realize that some viewers thrive on this sort of thing but to me it detracts from the issue at hand. Moreover to me these stories come across as a way to try and guilt the judges into a positive review (which won't happen) and draw the audience to their side ( which unfortunately happens too often). Pull knives with regional food styles and have them go at it. Less gimmicky and demonstrates that they are well rounded chefs.
  21. Why do they need to fall back on gimmicks! Heritage may be of importance to some and not others and that has nothing to do with whether or not you are steeped in its details. Moreover if you are going to ask someone to cook something from their heritage you better be damn familiar with it yourself before you step up to judge. I refuse to be told a dish I know is too anything by someone who is not intimately aware of how it shoul be seasoned/prepared/presented.
  22. It's all subjective but to me Kentaro was miles ahead of the competition. I disliked both Brandon's and Margarita's equally but Brandon had a ridiculous print and yet was still bland and monochromatic so I guess he falls behind. Now for Ayana. Based on the hideous mess she showed I wish they could retroactively allow Kenya in. 90% of Ayana' stuff made me feel embarrassed for her. The sporty look and gown were were good but the rest were just beyond the pale. Bulky, overdone and poor choice of colour. Wow that was a miss.
  23. It’s closed! Awwww. Moved out of the Bay Area a while ago and I miss places like that. Especially enjoy supporting people like Tom. Now I just scrape by on crumbs in my new culinary wasteland
  24. Exactly! My first thought was 70's family room. Just need some wood paneling and macrame.
  25. There would be so little of this show if the majority of the designs were things that were practical and wearable for the average person. Not to mention no Avant Garde or unconventional materials challenges. It is pretty standard for those going out to wear a coat and then as little as possible underneath. Winter nights out in Montreal are always a fight between style and practicality. I think Margarita's could have worked if she used the faux fur for a top and then made much more chic pair of pants or perhaps a black skirt. If they are going to be so high and mighty about fur they shouldn't patronize establishments that perpetuate the practice of selling fur.
