  1. The Biden "State of the Union" finale was painful....
  2. Just brutal.....this show needs major changes.....worst it's ever been including the early 80s Jane D year
  3. Elordi goes down in the pantheon of All-Time Bad SNL Hosts with Milton Berle, Joe Montana, Steven Seagal etc
  4. Pretty bad overall imo....but I'll give them the first time out this year excuse.
  5. I really dug how they made this ep sort of a "retro sci-fi" circa late '60s Manson murders, "2001" etc Thought was a cool choice. Aaron Paul was awesome as usual. My favorite ep of this season easily.
  6. First ep this season I didn't really feel it.....maybe the Bruins OT loss put me in a foul mood before I watched this tonight. Just seemed more of the same..... nothing really new or interesting (for me anyway) seemed to transpire on tonight's ep.
  7. Good to see this back......think it's going to be a strong season
  8. I guess '80s music is now the de facto soundtrack for sci-fi series now. Pretty sure that was The Cure's "Just Like Heaven" being played instrumentally on the carousel scene. Kind of weird that there are a fair amount of malls in America today that look like that one did.
  9. Imagine watching "The Goodbye Girl" during a fungi apocalypse? Little slower tonight, which is fine....
  10. Good ep overall although not much seemed to happen moving the bigger picture. Liked the interplay between Joel and Ellie....gaining chemistry between them.
  11. Dear God, that was a mostly unfunny mess last night....SNL has been good at times this season....last night was brutal.
  12. Bill has really bought into the "higher education is useless" bs that conservatives have been pushing lately. Tafoya is a former sports broadcaster....she was usually the reporter down on the field during football games. Looks like she is reinventing herself as a conservative gadfly....she's been on some different Fox shows lately like Gutfeld etc. She was particularly loathesome last night, she'll fit right in at Fox and other right-wing outlets. Begala brought up some great points I thought....his brand of policies, sort of center-left, is a winning one politically speaking imo.
  13. Yeah, the guy playing Dr J was their first real misstep in casting. They are also portraying Bird as a Neanderthal....only allowing him to grunt a word or two in any scene he is in.
  14. The two towns should actually be flip-flopped (in terms of how they are portrayed anyway).....Mattapoisett is a much more white collar enclave than Plainville is. The Roys are sort of "rough around the edges" but they are fairly successful in their businesses. It's actually kind of interesting, not sure if this in anyway played into Michelle's issues, but Plainville is seen as sort of the "poor cousin" in the King Philip regional school system. The other 2 towns in it, Norfolk and Wrentham, are seen as the more desireable towns to live in.
  15. Grew up in Mattapoisett and coached boy's tennis at King Philip (yes, one l) HS so this case has always fascinated me having spent a lot of time in both communities. I don't personally know any of the people involved in this but know some who do. One thing they have taken dramatic license with is portraying Mattapoisett as a "rough" town. It's a beautiful sea-side community on Buzzard's Bay, which is in just about every way, a much more desirable town to live in/come from etc than Michelle's Plainville. They have done a good job duplicating exteriors/interiors of restaurants in Mattapoisett, King Philip HS etc.....the real school colors are green&yellow not the red&black (I think they showed) though.
  16. That had to be the amongst the worst panels in the history of the show. Do people just not want to be on this anymore? The Odenkirk interview was great to start the show....but it was absolute dreck after that.
  17. I could be wrong but I think I saw somewhere that the next season of this show will be the Kobe/Shaq era of the Lakers. I'd rather see the continuation of these early 80s Lakers...we'll see.
  18. I found Bill to be very testy this week....like others have said here, he's more and more becoming the grumpy old neighbor most everyone doesn't want to deal with anymore. To label some progressive ideas etc as so "out there" -- he is basically parroting right-wing talking points. While this could be the case in some instances, he makes no mention of the thoughts/ideas that are equally, if not moreso, out of step on the conservative side of the political aisle. Terrible panel imo as well.....this show is really losing its touch imo...I could see it losing a big part of its audience moving forward.
  19. Kiersten (younger version) is played by a very good college friend's daughter Matilda Lawler....she is so good. Liking this show so far.
  20. Shiv looked really fat this episode....just sayin'
  21. Humor me, but couldn't that attempted coup plot (using the divorce agreement) by the Roy children been attempted long ago??? Seems like they just strung out this season on intra-family back-stabbing.
  22. Was that the same mother from past years?
  23. While I love the characters (and characterizations) of this show, the narrative is really lacking....2 episodes left to this season and really, barely anything has happened to advance the story-line this season.
  24. That was a really solid episode overall....Kieran is a tremendous host. Lot of very funny moments overall.
