The Comics: Same, Yet Different
mandolin replied to KarateKate's topic in The Walking Dead Franchise Shows
In the comics, Abraham is a right hand man to Rick as well. He isn't that so much here, so maybe Jesus won't be that either. Of course, Abe is killed... -
So, are we to think that this was Rick and Michonne's first time? I've watched it three times, and I can't decide. Also, thank you show for making me care about Daryl again for the first time in a while.
-
Yeah, I'm not sure what they were trying to accomplish other than trying to give weight to Jessie's "relationship" with Rick. Having Rick flash to Carl's first injury would've been cool...especially if the flashes had included Shane running with him then as Michonne did this time. ETA: posted twice

Carl hadn't been shot yet when Rick had his flashbacks. I wonder what it'd have been like if the show had put in flashbacks of Carl's first shooting and him as a younger kid as they ran. That might've been poignant.

I freaking love Michonne. -

Yes, she is. And they just had a nice reunion of sorts. More thoughts about the time jump: the show hasn't been utilizing them very well. Time jump, crazy action for a season which equals 2 days of show time, time jump, repeat. Let's see things calm for at least one episode. -

My hope is that, since this relationship appears to be taking over ComicAndrea's role, the writers will follow that storyline. It's pretty well done, all things considered. ComicAndrea doesn't become the things we fear for Michonne. She also stands up to him when necessary, but they do complement each other. LISTEN WRITERS: in this case, follow the comics! Don't Grady us. -

I have only been spoiling myself on this show for a few months (sigh), but can this be accurate? From The Spoiling Dead Fans facebook page: TSDF OFFICIAL: Episode 610 - The Next World Spoilery Bits -The best part of waking up is spoilers in your cup! Thank you, Daydream Machine! - There's a time jump, Carl is fine, it's quiet and peaceful in Alexandria, people are cleaning up and rebuilding. The main plot revolves around Rick and Daryl who are on a supply run. They meet Jesus who tricks them and steals their truck full of supplies. They catch up with him but the truck ends up sinking into a lake unintentionally. It's all quite fun, especially the banter between Daryl and Jesus. They take Jesus with them to Alexandria as a captive but he shows up in Rick's bedroom at the end of the episode, telling him they need to talk. - There's a subplot with Michonne and Spencer as well as Carl and Enid roaming through the woods. Not much happens during the Carl and Enid part. They find a walker Carl doesn't want to kill, but it isn't revealed who it is. Later, Michonne and Spencer find the same walker - lured into their direction by Carl - and it turns out to be a zombified Deanna. Spencer kills her and finds closure. - By the end of the episode, Rick and Michonne have sex, just like that. They hold hands, make out and then have sex and when Jesus arrives in Rick's bedroom they're naked in bed together. - Denise mentions that Tara and Heath are about to go on a 2 week supply run which makes me think they will be captured by Negan and Tara will be toast soon. That's it, basically. It's a fun little episode, but as I said, not very eventful, just some table setting. -

Comparisons of this last episode to its comic counterparts. http://www.thewalkingdead.com/6-ways-the-walking-dead-season-6-mid-season-premiere-compared-to-the-comics/ Some pretty cool stuff if you're a fan of the books. -
Spoilers and Speculation

My biggest fear about this next, larger world is that we'll have entire episodes devoted to new characters and we won't see Rick or Michonne, et al for weeks at a time. -
The moments in this show - everyone going to join Rick in the fight and things like Abe cackling about opening the gate "pal"...that is this show for me. Those are both ways they show these messed up people love each other. And it works for me. I don't obsessively watch these episodes like I did in seasons 1-3, but moments like that keep me watching! Also, I think it had to be dark during the zombie walk in order to contrast Jessie's happy face (bright, lit up) with their current situation. Dumb editing choice. I'd love to see a good fight in sunlight. They're walkers, not vampires.

The Cast: News, Interviews and Articles
mandolin replied to Milaxx's topic in The Walking Dead Franchise Shows
I think the actors often use words like "disgusted" and "worst/hardest/most gruesome" episode EVAH because they are trying to drum up interest. And they have to ramp it up season after season. And articles saying the same generate clicks as well. Also, there was a error in that article - said "Sofia" instead of "Judith." I do think the characters have made dumb mistakes, and often times do things in order to further the story, AND I think the Glenn "death" was a major low point of the show, but all these points being made, I doubt I'll be as shocked as the article's author seems to have been. -

Neither! He was Bill. :) If you like to listen to him, he did a podcast with Hardwick recently. We are watching old seasons of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Some ep in season 2. The old Vatos grandma just showed up for a quick scene. Same demeanor. LOVE that lil ol lady. -

I've enjoyed him in the last two episodes.

Maggie never got her comic prison haircut in the show. It reminded me of that. She's going to being doing some major toughening up if she follows the comics. I'm a bit concerned about being split between two communities. Eta: definitely agree about the different writers -

I skimmed the summaries on that fb page. It *sounds* like a lot happening, but I may just be happy that more than 24 hours passes in a half season. I am super tired of Daryl the mope. He was a valued, helpful part of the group at the prison, so why does he descend again into self-hate (it seems to me) and guilt? I don't understand why they took this turn with him. Just like it made no sense to me why he was taking "valuables" at the golf course with Beth. No sense after a few episodes prior being an adapted, caring group member. I think they've had so much "action" that there has been no time for character development. I know some got tired of the farm and standing around talking, but we haven't really checked in with these people in so long, we need to. THEY WERE ALMOST EATEN BY CANNIBALS for pete's sake. Eta: I saw a picture that Lauren Cohan tweeted, and her hair looks short. With Jessie dead, what does it mean? Who cut her hair? :p -

I just watched the Olive Oyl Daryl episode yesterday. I miss him. He doesn't exist anymore. If Mopey McBangs dies, I won't be too upset. If Tara goes, though...YAY. -

Dwight ends up not all bad, but it's a long road. Who knows what the show will do with him. He's around still in the comics: http://walkingdead.wikia.com/wiki/Dwight_(Comic_Series) I actually feared for Rick in the comics with the Negan/Dwight/infected arrow thing that went down a while back. -
They know how to have lots of people without actually showing them. I never knew there were more than the core group + the Morales family at the quarry until the walker attack and we saw them eating people and then showed the dead being buried the next day. ("We don't burn them!" -Glenn) Point being, they can have a town full of people in the background while still focusing on people we know. They're just trying to make us care about every redshirt apparently.

Since in the comics Alexandria and Negan already had a relationship, our people will probably kill most of this roving band of Saviors to give Negan reason to fight. -
I think this half season has been mostly a bust. There were things that I liked, such as the episode with the wolves and Carol, but the glacial pace is destroying the momentum for me. On rewatch, the last scene where they come out of the house covered in guts, with the music playing and everything in slow motion, I think the actors really sold their feelings there. I enjoyed that scene. I think I'll go watch some old episodes. That is how I usually soothe myself after a sucky string of episodes. Ah yes, good to see you again, Season 2 episode 7.

I thought there was supposed to be a scene post credits?
