  1. I read RS to mean that the four (or five?) had left on their own volition. Even he admits that this will make it one of the "messiest" seasons so far.
  2. I believe that's adapted from Old Testament laws that required a period of cleansing after the menstrual cycle but why they would feel they need to stick to it heaven only knows.
  3. Ok, so I'm only now catching up on Season 3 and I'm only in episode 2, but . . . . we all HATE Kitty and are waiting for her to be killed off, right? I . . . . don't even get, well, anything about her . . . why she's there at all, what purpose she serves, what her character is supposed to be (honestly the actress is terrible), what she's saying half the time. She has no chemistry with Sherlock, and the chemistry between Lucy Liu and Jonny Lee Miller has been the best part of the series from the beginning, IMO. So . . . yeah, I just don't know. Someone please tell me it gets better? Some of you apparently have come to like her so I guess something must change. Cause I'm only in ep 2 and already ready to bail. And I loved this show so much in Seasons 1 and 2.
  4. As much as it pains me, as a college English professor, to say this, the discussion of College Comp requirements is off-topic, so let's move off it please. Thank you. (I will also add the final observation that it's COMPLETELY possible to pass a College Comp course and still not be able to write. Trust me.)
  5. Yeah, I know. But the article I read made it sound like they were tracking the contractions to the minute earlier today, which made me think it might be real. Plus they were making a big deal out of the fact that it's her actual due date today. But, I agree that it's probably all hype. We always knew these people would call the media the second she felt a twinge.
  6. Yeah, I got a sex book, too, but a little before the wedding I think. I never really read it though. I was a virgin when I got married but let's just say we managed to figure things out without the need for instructions :-)
  7. So apparently Jilly is having contractions. Start your engines, everyone. (But don't start racing yet since it could be false labor). http://hollywoodlife.com/2015/03/24/jill-duggar-due-date-baby-on-the-way-contractions/
  8. I can't with this, ya'll. And I've watched every episode of Reign. But this show makes that look like a documentary on life in a royal court. There are too many things to pick on, but the one that drove me most crazy (like I wanted to throw things) was that Ophelia apparently LIVES in the castle (because . . . OK) and more importantly she seems to just WANDER AROUND WHEREVER SHE WANTS even in the "family" part of the house. I just . . . can't. And don't get me started on the "I never learned how to curtsey." However, the cousins were a hoot (they at least seem to know what kind of show they are in and have embraced the trash) and I'd almost be tempted to watch just for them. But the rest was dullsville. I've got it! Transport the cousins to Reign instead! Problem solved. And they won't really have to worry about changing their costumes for the period since the costumes on that show range in period from 16th-21st century anyway.
  9. Holy crap! Qaasim gives the best performance of the night while singing for the save. He totally earned that mic drop. And that look on his face at the end like, "Save me or I'm gonna cut you!" was awesome. As soon as I saw it was down to Jax and Qaasim I figured they would use the save definitely for Qaasim and probably for Jax. My theory is that the judges have a list of 3 or 4 people who they consider good enough to use the save on if they end up on the bottom and whichever of those comes up for elimination first gets it. I'd say this season that list is pretty much Jax, Qaasim and Joey, and pooosssibly Clark. I don't think they would have wasted the save on anyone else, nor should they have.
  10. I don't mind brief mentions of Chris on DWTS and how his appearance there compares to the "personality" we saw on TB. But discussion about dance styles and his partner alone (unrelated to anything that happened on the TB) needs to be taken to the DWTS thread guys, OK? Thanks.
  11. Fair point. I think we'll just keep the discussion of this show in this thread for the time being. Thanks!
  12. Hmmm. I need to investigate. We may need to create a separate forum for this show if people are wanting to talk about it. For now you can put it in this thread, though. I'll let you know when/if we decide on a new forum. Also . . . . .I ADORE the fact that in the UK the show is called Dance MUMS. Heh. Yeah, I'll have to check it out.
  13. My money is on Britt being Kaitlyn's "advisor" at least once during the season. Since Britt got to meet all the guys as well, she can claim to know them and get a feel of who's there "for the right reasons."
  14. RS also tweeted this a little later: Oh boy. Boxing.
  15. Just a note: let's keep any information about which of the two was actually chosen (as the info is leaking out) as a spoiler unless and until the producers actually announce it publicly. No mention of it outside the spoiler thread, please. Thanks. (BTW--no one has violated this yet; just a pre-emptive strike)
  16. Just a brief reminder, not that anyone has done this yet, but let's keep this information as a spoiler unless and until the producers actually announce it publicly. No mention of it on other threads yet, ok?
  17. There's so much discussion over the new Bachelorette "twist" and how this season will play out that I've started a thread just for anticipatory discussion, NON-SPOILED speculation, griping about how much the producers love Britt, rants about how much you hate Britt, or, (my personal fav) mocking of Kaitlyn's duck lips, etc. I'm moving non-spoiler-related discussion from this thread to there. You should still discuss actual spoilers here. Thanks.
  18. This to me seems a very plausible explanation for all the known facts.
  19. There's so much discussion over the new Bachelorette "twist" and how this season will play out that I've started this thread just for anticipatory discussion, NON-SPOILED speculation, griping about how much the producers love Britt, rants about how much you hate Britt, etc. I'm moving non-spoiler-related discussion from the spoiler thread to here. Please take actual spoilers and spoiler discussion to the spoiler thread. Thank you.
  20. So I assume that the first person to get a whiff of the birth announcement will let us know here immediately, right? I really don't want to make a Google alert for these people.
  21. THIS!!! I was taught growing up (in the south) that it was tacky for family members to be the hosts for a person's shower. I mean, yes, sometimes the shower may have been arranged by the mother or sisters, but it would be held someone other than their house and officially "hosted" by someone else. I still shudder a little when I see mothers sending out shower invites for their pregnant daughters, even though I know it's common in many places these days. It's just so ingrained in me I react instinctively. To quote Bronn from GoT: But, then, I'm getting old.
  22. I love the scenes where Cathy is going on and on to her dancers about how much she hates Abby Lee and ALDC and the dancers (and usually the parents) obviously couldn't care less. The kids are probably thinking: "Yeah, yeah, blah, blah, blah, can I please dance now?" The parents are thinking: "I'm paying HOW much per hour to listen to this loon go all Mean Girl?"
  23. Not a huge fan of Britt, but if it comes down to watching a season of her or Duck Lips, I'll take Britt. I don't think I can look at Kaitlyn's face one more time.
  24. Pretty sure they like her more than he does. I admit I wasn't paying full attention last night, and I actually missed some of the first half, so . . . . did Whitney actually ever see Arlington before the engagement? I mean, I know she has since, but I just find it fascinating that the girl who was the most gung-ho about this guy also happened to be the only one who had never seen the place she'd end up living.
  25. I was never a 30 Rock fan, and could only stick with the Office for about 4 seasons before I bailed, but I LOVE this show. I want to mainline it! I agree completely that it is more sweet (but not stickly) than 30 Rock or Community or any number of other similar single cam shows, and I confess I like just a bit of that in my comedies (cf. my love for The Middle). But even the sweetness doesn't completely hide the sadness just beneath the surface. And kudos to Fey et al who are not brushing under the rug the consequences that a woman in her situation would face. I mean, they're picking and choosing carefully, obviously. There are certainly things that are not completely realistic about her integration back into society. But the things they do highlight I think they do marvelously, managing to make them funny, but not a parody. I really don't watch any comedies regularly other than The Middle, because I have a very specific taste in them, but this one fits right into that alley.
