To be fair, we don't know what's in Marlena's advance directive. It could be a simple "DNR," but it could also be more specific than that. Since we haven't read it, or had anyone tell us explicitly what it says, maybe it does specify "no intubation." I still think that the docs should have been more detailed about her prognosis (which seems too dire for the actual situation) so that Belle could make a better informed decision, but I don't really have a problem with the way it's being portrayed.

In the US, we have "potato starch" (which is what I think they were using here) and "potato flour" (which is basically ground up, dehydrated instant potato). The former is used a LOT in Passover baked goods (or, at least, the ones that don't have matzo meal or "Passover" flour) and you don't taste the potato at all.
