  1. I have now watched all 3 episodes and haven’t changed my opinion of this mess of a culty church. Of course if you think spending too much time in church and immersing yourself in your religion is not a good thing, then Gwen’s church and weight ministry was a bad thing to begin with. And Joe was an absolute mess who clearly latched onto Gwen as a sugar momma. I can’t wait for the final 2 chapters
  2. One of my biggest issues with Esme is that the character was basically treading water for months, with occasional teases about what she wanted with Ryan. Now they seem to be moving ahead with that storyline, but it took them months before there was any real movement with it
  3. Season 4 premieres Tuesday May 3 at 8pm ET http://thefutoncritic.com/news/2022/03/15/abc-announces-lineup-for-unscripted-series-premiering-tuesday-may-3-229513/20220315abc01/
  4. I'm glad to see it wasn't just me
  5. At the very least, I think she signed something to say she wasn't going through with the merger of the hospital and would walk away. I'm kind of clueless about it in general though
  6. Did Salen care for Andrews that much to not use his past mistakes against him and stop fighting? Or did he just make her realize that she had gone too far and needed to stop?
  7. Next season (5) will be the last season, with 13 episodes https://tvline.com/2022/03/14/new-amsterdam-cancelled-ending-season-5-nbc-finale/
  8. Ironically, this got preempted on CNN for breaking news. I don’t know when they plan to show again and it’s not on streaming yet except as a rental or purchase
  9. The thing about the Jonestown tragedy was that once Jim Jones got at least part of his flock down to the Guyana compound, he had almost complete control of them and the isolated area with wild jungle made it very difficult for people to physically leave
  10. I finally watched the first episode tonight and man what a mess of a church. Having just watched the 20/20 special on the Heaven’s Gate cult the night before, it’s interesting how Gwen’s movement started out in a practical way, including just eating less to lose weight, and then morphed into something destructive, like so many cults. It’s clear Gwen got dangerously thin over time
  11. The final two parts will premiere on HBO Max on April 28 https://deadline.com/2022/03/the-way-down-part-2-trailer-1234976634/
  12. I agree, it was very interesting. I’m old enough to remember it happening and learning at least the basics, but this special covered a lot of the cult’s early history which I didn’t know. It’s tragic when groups like this end in suicide (or murder/suicide). I’m also old enough to remember the Jonestown deaths in 1978 with over 900 dead in Guyana. These cult leaders, at least some of them, may start out benign, but too often lose their minds and end up forcing crazy things on their members
  13. Native American cuisine https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indigenous_cuisine_of_the_Americas
  14. It’s the series’ 250th episode
  15. The 250th episode will be broadcast this Friday
  16. It looks like this Friday's telecast will be pretty interesting, as it looks back at the cult Heaven's Gate
  17. S2 premieres in April, but still no exact date http://thefutoncritic.com/news/2022/03/10/season-two-of-drama-series-gentleman-jack-debuts-this-april-409511/20220310hbo01/
