I have a Soda Stream as well, and I also mainly use it for parties to make club soda. But they are really easy to use and the CO2 bottle lasts a fair amount of time for the money. You can buy flavors, or you can make your own. My mom likes the sugar free grapefruit one, and she doesn't use the full amount recommended, so it's like a hint of grapefruit and it's pretty refreshing instead of cloying.

No serial killer deserves this kind of attention. But, to be fair, name a victim of any other serial killer besides Manson. If anything, the continued interest in the Tate-LaBianca murders keeps the victims front and center. Is it because they were famous? Of course. But at least they are remembered and are as important as the evil men and women that killed them.

LOL, so he picks a motive that involves a hole in the desert that leads to a land of milk and honey, a race war that ends with white people losing but black people can't run things and so they need Manson to do it for them? How does one just make that up if it wasn't expressed by multiple people? Danny De Carlo, another Straight Satan whose name escapes me, several family members-Dianne Lake, Stephanie Schram, Barbara Hoyt, Linda Kasabian; Juan Flynn, and a few of the folks that left the family when they were in Death Valley, along with Gregg Jakobson, one of Dennis Wilson's friends. The family members that mostly deny the Helter Skelter talk (that I'm aware of) were the ones who murdered people, and they were trying to get Charlie off, so (in my opinion, of course) their testimony or interviews have little to no weight with me. Charles Manson was an angry man who was innately violent, but there's no doubt he talked about Helter Skelter. You can argue "true" motives all day, and I certainly welcome that, but it's the umbrella of motive that you have to park such a bizarre set of circumstances and murders under because of the bizarre nature of the Family itself. If that makes sense. It's very interesting that Mindhunter aired this season around the 50th anniversary of the Tate murders since Manson was one of the interviews. A creepy, if untintentional, coincidence.

Why on earth would a district attorney CHOOSE something as bizarre and difficult to explain and prove in court as Helter Skelter if it wasn't the actual motive? In the book, according to Bugliosi, multiple witnesses bring it up without being asked, loads of people outside the family knew about it. And some IN the family thought it was weird or insane, but went along. There may have been other factors going on, but I feel it's pretty clear that once you meet Charlie, things that seem insane now make sense. I agree about Tex. I think that also has to do with the fact that he wasn't in the first trial when all of the head shaving and face carving shenanigans happened, so he wasn't as publicized.

What New Foods Have You Tried?: Like It? Hate It? Share Here!

I have loved the Impossible burger when I've had it at bar/grill establishments. I haven't had the BK one, but wondering if it's different in some way? I would imagine that cost-wise, it would have to be? -
And everyone said that a second season was just a pipe dream. Too soon?

While I think Madison is a horrid human, I have a feeling that Austen is the kind of guy that has 0 spine or backbone that is always telling his friends one thing and his girlfriend another. When a dude's girlfriend and friends are so at odds, it's almost always that the person in the middle is the issue. I'm guessing that Madison was asking Austen to spend more time with her, at home, not out on the town. Austen was telling her he wanted that as well, then cancelling or changing plans on her and going out with his friends instead, then coming over drunk, etc. THEN, he was probably telling his friends that she was calling/texting him to come over and spend time with her over them and that she didn't like him hanging out with them, getting mad that he wanted to spend time with his friends, etc. He just seems like the kind of wishy washy douchebag that tries to please everyone and talks out both sides of his mouth, and tries to avoid having any kind of strong opinions unless his friends have voiced that opinion already. It's gross to watch.

Who doesn't order the charcuterie? Austen and Madison really ARE monsters. I want the hush puppies Chelsea ordered. Don't watch this show if you're hungry and you love southern food.

I prefer Iberico ham to prosciutto. In case that's something you can find. I would imagine it's easier than finding speck, I've never seen that anywhere near me!

S11.E18: Reunion Part 1

Not the way I took it, only in regards to the age factor since I'm close to Tinsley. I know I look adorable in them, lol. -

I love it when Tinsley wears braids. I'm 41 and wear braids all the time. They are fantastic at a low maintenance, keep your hair out of your face look, along with being a better option under hats instead of ponytails. I think she looks sporty and adorable when she rocks them. Braids aren't for little girls only, sheesh. -
S03.E08: Chapter Eight: The Battle of Starcourt
larapu2000 replied to Athena's topic in Stranger Things
I think she probably agreed that it suited the character to make her look older, rougher, more traumatized. As a seasoned actress, she's probably not very concerned with her vanity, especially as she's aged. -

I don't know why this made me laugh so much, but it did. Isn't Nancy going to college in the fall? Wasn't the paper just a summer internship? Jonathan kept yelling "internship" at her when she got fired (and he got himself fired and then blamed it on her, he is SUCH A BORING DOUCHE). -
I hope you're not a Midwesterner, because hating ranch will revoke your membership card.

I also thought they seemed playful, not negative. I'm not sure what I'm missing that others here see and comment on. If my boyfriend was making something that was my favorite dish of my mom's, I wouldn't want them to mess it up because THEY might feel bad that it didn't please me or meet expectations, so I would also have been sweetly offering to go get takeout if it didn't work out. They both laughed it off. Where's the damage?

S09.E18: Pardon Our French
larapu2000 replied to KungFuBunny's topic in The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills
You don't have to insult country bumpkins to make your point. Country bumpkins have manners and are polite, and some of them are considerably better traveled than city dwellers. And quite frankly, traveling and doing it wrong also helps you learn why and how to do it right. So they are uncouth or unworldly? I'd much rather they at least had France on a short list to visit versus another Housewife trip to Mexico. Having said that, this country bumpkin just got back from Provence and it is lovely and beautiful, and the French people are among the kindest you can find in the world. A magical place with delicious wine!!!! -
I totally agree, and as someone who prefers a well done burger (I've taken too many sanitation courses, lol), that's one of the things I like most about it! You might prefer the Beyond Burger versus the Impossible if you are seeking meat free alternatives.

From what I've read about the Soviet Union, they NEEDED women in the workforce, so women actually had it better in terms of promotion and opportunity than the United States and other western countries. The Soviets put a woman in space in the 60's, it doesn't surprise me that women were such a large part of engineering and their nuclear programs. COME ON, only 5 episodes???????????? So not fair. I want SO MUCH MORE. (Something I didn't say the entirety of the final season of Game of Thrones) Just curious, why couldn't the moon rovers work on the 3rd roof? Was it that much more radioactive and difficult? And leave it to the Soviets to fucking lie about the levels the robot needed to withstand. Run, kitty cat, run!!! I was cheering for the cats, even though I knew they would also die horrible deaths. Were they more susceptible than humans? If you can evacuate humans, why not pets? How devastating.

I'm actually headed to Provence tonight, so I'll keep an eye out for our girl! Obviously I will need to say hello and tell her how much I love her.

S09.E13: Grilling Me Softly
larapu2000 replied to KungFuBunny's topic in The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills
I've read an article or two about how total relaxation is the point of a massage, therefore relaxing every part of you is part of the process. It's not sexually motivated, even though it is, inherently, a sexual act. It's become more sordid because uptight Westerners traveling to places like Thailand treat it as a cheap hand job and have made it a punch line and have made professional massage therapists into sex workers, rather than treating it as a part of the overall massage experience. I like how nonplussed Denise was about the whole thing, it probably took place in a different culture, and not all cultures are like our own. -
S11.E09: Tears of a Clown
larapu2000 replied to OnceSane's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
LOL, I'm not even anywhere close to a millionaire, but I make a good living in a small city (fewer peer salaries) and I find it VERY challenging to find a guy that is comfortable with making less than I do. And it's not even that I share my income, but they eventually guess or figure out the range, and from that point on, it becomes an issue. I'm not even joking. -

Tinsley is the kind of housewife I WANT to see. Real money, nice to others, laughs and enjoys other's company, doesn't hold grudges, has a real life outside the show, etc. The others are so vicious and mean towards one another to their face and behind their back and it's so horrible to watch. Tinsley was a breath of fresh air for me when she came on the show. The level of mean girl antics she put up with from Sonja alone, and handled gracefully and tactfully, earns her a place on my favorites list. -
If you're lazy, this bread will make you look like a superstar. Try to use a shallower dish versus a deeper dish, as that will take longer than the time in the directions. No Knead Bread Also, the world's best and easiest pasta recipe is this: Boil some pasta. Saute garlic in a 50/50 mix of olive oil and butter (or if you prefer one over the other, just use that) until it's BARELY golden, toss with pasta. You can add canned clams or fresh thyme to the saute pan as well and it's bomb AF. You can also add parmesan cheese (the GOOD KIND) once you toss the pasta in the oil/butter. It costs like $1.00 and it tastes like a million bucks.

https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/amy-thielen/fried-onion-dip-2204700 I know you're past needing a dip, but Amy Thielen's onion dip is MIND BLOWINGLY GOOD. It's fucking incredible, and maybe this will change your friend's mind on using the soup packet.

Sigh. I wasn't disputing who has a "better claim" to the Iron Throne. I was pointing out the ridiculous insinuation that using modern sensibilities to point out the misogyny of the show and its patriarchal construct is perfectly fine, and it's not mired in some kind of "historical accuracy" loophole. Creating a misogynistic fantasy world doesn't leave it immune from being able to criticize and analyze the misogyny. I'm not sure why you think it does. Further, it's always been my impression through the books and the show, that it doesn't matter who has a claim to the throne through parentage, it's about the worthiness of the person ascending, and getting that person to the throne, or about overthrowing the old traditions and ideals of a world where so many suffer needlessly and instituting a form of government or leadership that is by, for, and of the people.
