S13.E14: Live Results 2 (Wednesday's Show)
Lava VaVoom replied to Commando Cody's topic in America's Got Talent
Tyra's hip-hop delivery sounds like an attempt to keep things interesting, which they are not, and neither is she. If she took it down a few notches, she'd be a much better host. I did like it on - Tuesday? last week? - when she oozed out in that gold gown doing the runway walk. Take THAT, Heidi! -
S13.E14: Live Results 2 (Wednesday's Show)

Eff this season. Also the show. It's no fun anymore. Riana and the cats did not go through???? Eff. Eff. Eff. Eff. Those were the only two I was interested in. Next week, I will be rooting for Hans. -
I have no problem asking for clarification. Did the Fountains go through? Thanks in advance.

All Episodes Talk: TRMS 2018 Season
Lava VaVoom replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Rachel Maddow Show
Rachel came to MSNBC first as a commentator on Keith's show, then as his occasional replacement, and from there to her own show. They always seemed to get along. The idea of him subbing for her now makes me giggle. -
All Episodes Talk: TRMS 2018 Season
Lava VaVoom replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Rachel Maddow Show
Congratulations to everyone for surviving the week without Rachel. FWIW, her fans on FB are also unhappy she's not on. I like, but don't "get," Ari Melber. I usually watch the repeat broadcast at midnight Eastern, and I can take him. Ever notice how the big guns don't sub for anyone? Just the second stringers. I hope she comes back rested, happy, and ready to roll. -
I did not like the reboot of Roseanne. I thought the show lacked heart this time around, and descended into silliness more often than not. Not sure if I'll watch the Connors .

Poppycock was a real singer and deserved better than he got. Hans is funny. I'm glad he and the mom comic made it through, and the spitters didn't. Next week: DASHA DASHA DASHA. Waiting for the Sacred Riana to see what she'll do next.

Commercials That Got Us Misty, Choked Us Up Or Made Us Cry
Lava VaVoom replied to peacheslatour's topic in Commercials
Love the McDonald's commercial where Sebastian is accepted to the McDonald's Tuition Assistance Program because Mickey D's wants to be America's best first job, and his coworkers cheer for him while he jumps up and down in delight. Gets me every time. -
Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage
Lava VaVoom replied to Maverick's topic in Commercials
I did profess my love for the Progressive commercials on the appropriate thread, but I wanted to say the selling point here is the magical name your price tool. It just makes everything better. The song itself is irrelevant. -
Cracker Barrel puts out its Halloween stuff in July. I live in Florida, and this always made me happy because it reminded me that Florida's dreadful summer would eventually be over. Sorry, not a commercial, but there was logic to my madness.

I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I like the Progressive commercials with Flo and Jamie and their crew. This obviously works for Progressive because it's been going for years. Flo herself was a comic in California, but she'll never have to do stand-up again.

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

Always drove me insane because this toddler is running around with scissors but mom's more concerned with the mess. I do like the one with the (well-trained) cat because my cat is like that. -
All Episodes Talk: Let’s Talk About Dr Phil the Show
Lava VaVoom replied to Lola16's topic in Dr. Phil
I like catfish episodes, too; but it's summer and shows are in repeat. Today's show was Truthfully Trisha and she's still at it on YouTube, live when I looked a minute ago and braying that she can keep you entertained for hours. As if. -
Say What?: Commercials That Made Us Scratch Our Heads
Lava VaVoom replied to Lola16's topic in Commercials
Ruby Tuesday with Rachel Dratch makes no sense whatsoever. Comfort Inns' "bada book, bada boom" is high on my sh1tl1st too. I keep hearing "bada bing." How does this sell hotel rooms? And speaking of hotel rooms, will someone please shoot that damned Trip Advisor screech owl? Grazie, Geno. -
Wedding Cake Championship - General Discussion
Lava VaVoom replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Wedding Cake Championship
Thee is no such thing as too much Johnny and Tara. They are the reasons I tuned in to this show. Johnny's coach was Russian and he's fluent in that language. I also like David Tutera, but I suspect I'm the only one. Nobody on these forums caught his show. Even *I* couldn't remember to watch him. I do not like the judge with the nose-piercing. -

Everybody has a sob story. Everyone is experienced. Why did Heidi ask the young pianist who he was here with, which suddenly became relevant.? None of the other performers were asked that question. This show is so predictable, it's not fun anymore.

I completely concur. Hard to watch, hard to talk about. I've also met those guys, and knew a lot of feeders from years being involved in the size acceptance movement. Over the years I watched my friends who got into relationships just get larger and larger. We'd go to our-size dances where we could dance without being laughed at. The women would be on the dance floor and the men would be on the sidelines watching. I also doubt I'll ever date again. Plum, you break my heart, but you piss me off too. I cheered when you hit that jackass who insulted you, saw red when he hit you back, and got angry when no one came to your rescue except the cop who was conveniently nearby. I hope you restyle your hair and wear more red dresses.

I read that Howard left because he couldn't stand telling little kids they weren't any good. Not all scorpions are dangerous. The ones scorpion guy was using look scary, but are actually very calm and gentle. Still rooting for the cats, and maybe a few others. Can't stand the screeching and hysterical applause and standing for mediocre performers, but that's AGT show biz.

I wasn't impressed with the Golden Buzzer dance team. They reminded me of a cheerleading acrobatic dance squad. Amateurs? Please. Loved the shtick of the Sacred Rhiana. Loved the cats the most, because when all was said and done . . . they were cats. Hundreds of years ago, I saw the Moscow Circus in NYC, and they had a "clown" with a trained cat act. Can't remember what else was in that Circus, but I never forgot him. If the rest of the season is as promising as the first episode, this will be a fun summer.

S01.E01: Pilot / S01.E02: Tender Belly
Lava VaVoom replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Dietland [V]
My head is still spinning from trying to figure out what was going on. I find Unapologetic loud and screechy, even though it's right on. Marti has that annoying vocal habit of saying "y'know" every ten words, which makes her sound insecure and unsure of herself. -

I suspect the two women who believed in jilly juice either knew her personally, or were from the same community . -

Jilly Juice. Use International Beauty Expert Robin's products instead.
