  1. http://www.gettyimages.com/search/events/575593081?family=editorial&assettype=image&excludenudity=true&page=1&sort=best&phrase= Well I definitely see Ashley, Swapnil, and Merline. I agree that the fanny pack gold collection must be Kelly. I think the red and black collection looks like Candace.
  2. So almost everyone punted on the cover-up part of the challenge? That was disappointing. I would wear Ashley's, Joseph's, Jake's, and Kelly's (although I wasn't too fond of the lavender lace with the yellow print). I thought Laurie's bra was pretty, but what the heck was she thinking with the panties? I am the queen of the granny panty, but even I won't wear one that goes all the way up to my belly button. I appreciated what Merline was trying to do but she's lucky her model was so flat chested. That "bra" would be a disaster for most women. Swapnil's was fun. The straps didn't bother me. It looked like they were all attached to the standard straps and it shouldn't be a huge issue to take off or put on. I don't know what the heck Blake was thinking. The color and the cut screamed 1980s and then there was no support at all for the model. He should have stuck with his original pink ombre bra. I also thought Lindsay overreacted about her injury. One stitch? I would have just bandaged it up and finished. There was no need to rush to the ER for a tetanus shot.
  3. I had to laugh at Rapunzel not liking the hair. But I agree, he is obnoxious.
  4. I don't think the course should be adjusted for size. It just makes it that much more spectacular when someone without the ideal body type performs well. In a lot of ways all of the ninjas are competing against themselves, seeing how far they can push their bodies and how much farther they can go each year. Obviously it helps to be strong but weigh little and have long enough limbs to reach across some of the distances more easily. Sports are like that though. Smaller gymnasts have an advantage. Taller basketball players have an advantage.
  5. I don't mind a certain amount of showboating. Some competitors just seem to be filled with excitement and enthusiasm so fist pumps and waving to the crowd and dramatic pounding of the buzzer is completely reasonable to me. What they do is amazing and they should be excited about it. A few of them can be so over the top that I roll my eyes but it doesn't bother me that much, maybe because I know that at some point they will fall or fail at an obstacle.
  6. I hope this teaches them not to hype Kacy so much next year. She obviously crumbled under the pressure. She was so much more nervous this year on both the qualifying course and Stage 1. I hated the interview after too. She's obviously heartbroken and upset at herself for making a dumb mistake. Let her go lick her wounds in private. Last year's interviewer did that to one of the men and it was equally painful. If they are so upset they can barely speak just let them go. I felt bad for Megan. She is awesome! Like Jessie she was so close to passing the warped wall although she was moving slowly through the course so I'm not sure she would have had enough time even if she made it up. I was happy for the Human Panther and Grant McCartney. I felt bad for Elet Hall, although he should be more cautious instead of focusing so much on speed. I liked watching Isaac. He is so enthusiastic during his runs. I love watching the ninjas who look like they are having fun.
  7. I've watched all the seasons and team members have been asked many times who should go home. I don't think that's anything new or unusual. It doesn't have to be some nefarious plot to have friends agree not to blame each other. Ashley being withdrawn maybe made herself a bigger target. Like I said before it was foolish to name Ashley because she has won two challenges and Heidi already chastised both teams for not picking her. A smart contestant has to consider how her responses come across to the judges. Even if it is not the intent to pick on her, in the context of her being picked last and overly emotional about it, it comes off as mean-spirited. That's why I said in my post that I was more bothered by their foolishness than anything else. Personal feelings about contestants will affect judging.
  8. The meanness was not in the picking last however foolish it may have been (someone had to be last and grown-ups should know how to suck it up and deal with it) but in shutting her out of the plan (or lack thereof) and pre-planning to assign the blame of the team failure to her. I think that's why many of us haven't said anything about the men not picking her. It wasn't the picking that offended but the treatment of a teammate.
  9. I like Holly's new red hair. I had mentioned previously I thought she needed something to make her stand out a bit more. With shorter, straighter hair than most I see why they went with a bright color. I also think she would have looked good with a richer brown and a different cut, maybe something more asymmetrical like Amy (of the wardrobe malfunction at finals) had this year. That was super cute and swingy. I think they did the best they could with Madeline. Dyed black hair is a bitch to try to change. My best friend dyed her hair black for a couple years and then had to grow it out when she got tired of it. She is a good-looking girl, but more cute than pretty at this point. Like others I wonder if a little maturity will help more than anything. I laughed so hard at Shelbi when she was talking about her friends Breelan and Ashley Pro and working hard to be as good as them. Honey those are not the girls you want to put in Kelli and Judy's minds when they look at you. So OF COURSE Melissa says she's going to fight for Shelbi to make the team. Just stop Melissa. It didn't work out so well last time. Help Megan be bigger and more confident.
  10. If you are going to throw someone under the bus on a team challenge it is probably not a good idea to select someone who is a judges' favorite and has won two challenges. How could they possibly believe Ashley would be sent home? I am almost more bothered by their stupidity than their petty meanness. To echo what others posted I liked Blake calling out the mean girls. I have a feeling he can relate to Ashley. I think Ashley came to the competition prepared to be an outcast but was pleasantly surprised by the acceptance and positive feedback she received. I'm sure it hurt doubly because of that. She let her guard down. I don't think Laurie was trying to stir up anything. She just didn't want Ashley to be blindsided. I liked her calling out Candice on the San Francisco story while they were waiting for their turn in front of the judges and one of the women said something like, "Well what are we supposed to tell them?" And she practically shouted, "Tell them the truth!" And I was happy she said something to the judges too. Kelly's purple athletic crop top thing with the long ugly skirt looked like Sporty Spice dressed as The Little Mermaid (I realize I'm aging myself with that reference). Hers was the worst in my opinion, but only narrowly beating out Candice's weird 80s business woman Barbie dress (although my Barbie's outfit had a better constructed top and came with a matching blazer). Of the winning team I actually liked Jake's look quite a bit but I agree with the judges that Edmond's was better and he deserved the win. Swapnil's dress was fun but the skirt looked uneven to me. His eyes still make me swoon every time I see him though.
  11. My kids and I were screaming for Tremayne Dortch. We were so excited to see him finally make it past the jumping spider and then finish the course just before the buzzer. Also excited for Dustin McKinney. We were really disappointed for Jessie Graff. She was so close to passing the warped wall and I think she would have had a chance to complete the stage. So tired of the human interest stuff, especially when most of it was rehashed from the qualifying and city final rounds. I get it. Flip is more focused. He took off his mask. You didn't need to tell me 3 times, show.
  12. I think of the ideal DCC as being around 25. Youthful and energetic but also poised and polished. Colby is just way too old-looking to fit the mold. I also think she is older than she claims. She looks my age (37) and just far too old to carry the America's Sweetheart label. It also just makes sense to hire more 18-22 year olds who have potential to be on the team 3, 4, 5 years. I liked the inclusion of Jay. We got too much of him in early seasons but recently he seems to have mostly disappeared. I did miss the power squad awards. I also would rather watch Jay than some of the etiquette and social media training they've shown in the past. Melissa has been so much better this year. I couldn't stand Breelan last year and Melissa's focus on her. Madeline needs a makeover so much. That hair is way too dark for her skin. I'm wondering if she hasn't been cut yet just because producers think she'll be good for the makeover episode. She seems hopeless with the dancing. She just can't make the corrections they keep giving her. Emily was so timid I wondered how she made it past the initial interviews and in to training camp. She is very pretty and seems sweet. Maybe if she watches this she can prepare herself physically (add a little weight) and mentally (confidence) and try again. I don't understand how anyone tries out for this team if they aren't flexible enough yet. You can't really fix that in 6 weeks. I think Holly is really likeable but she kind of blends for me. I think she is another makeover candidate. They need to jazz up her hair or makeup or something.
  13. Oh, I guess I can see that with the dancing and Kieran's ponytail but kind of an old reference for high school kids. I mean, that movie came out when I was in high school and I'm old. When I saw Emma in the wig I first thought maybe they were going to do 50 Shades.
  14. I was half-sleeping through this episode so sorry if I missed something. I also felt that Brandon James' mother was an actress hired by Piper. The whole set-up was bit too convenient for me. If she were really still around wouldn't the police have already contacted her? I wonder if Seth maybe did not escape from the jail but was abducted? He makes an excellent scapegoat. I didn't get who Emma and Kieran were supposed to be? What were their costumes? Why do high school kids hang out at bars so much in teen TV shows?
  15. Oh Marlene, then maybe you shouldn't have included that line when you knew A was going to be transgender. I have a feeling she felt that was a clever clue in that episode without realizing how offensive it would ultimately be.
  16. It kills me that the one time Spencer figured something out (EzrA) the show took it back.
  17. Well Heather that's what you get for defending this shit. Thank you PLL Twitter for waking her up to what the rest of us knew. The intent of the transgender storyline was to shock, not enlighten.
  18. Obviously Marlene doesn't know her audience as well as she thought she did. It's not just the PLL that are five years older. Her season 1 teen audience has grown up and has higher expectations. Hopefully this will teach her to tighten up her writing and not leave so many glaring plot holes. In any case getting all defensive on social media is always a bad idea. Really all she needs to do is acknowledge that not all fans were as excited about the twist as she was and promote the new mysteries after the time jump.
  19. Exactly. The storytelling is so incredibly flawed and the writers seem to expect us to just accept "hand wave hand wave Cece is actually Charles". They have asked us for an awful lot of suspension of disbelief up to this point but they are really pushing it here. Surgery aside (which I don't think is relevant unless the writers decide to make her Charles again) it is perfectly reasonable to question the logistics of Cece being at Radley, witnessing Marion's murder when she was still Charles or mid-transition? (assuming that was the point because it gave Wilden blackmail fodder and they didn't show Vanessa Ray in the scene and per Marlene age in flashbacks doesn't matter), transitioning, attending Rosewood High with Melissa, Ian, Garrett, and Jason (there is a photo of her in the yearbook), attending college, having conflict with Bethany and Mrs D, developing relationships with Ali, Jason, et al., being A, developing a relationship with/kidnapping? Sara, working with Ezra, ordering Mona and Toby around while shielding her identity, becoming a Wall Street genius and building the Carissimi Group, managing constant surveillance of the girls, building the assorted lairs, learning how to perform surgery and implant chips into necks and clues into Hanna's teeth, traveling to Europe, etc. Why did we never see Cece or get a hint of her at Radley if she was a patient at the same time as Mona? Would Wren know about her since he worked there? Does she live in Mona's hyperreality world? Is this actually a sci-fi show? I don't think anyone on this thread intends to offend (I certainly don't) but the how in this story is troubling.
  20. I love Mona! She is a smart and sassy villain and I enjoy her antics but she is a villain. I hate when Marlene says she has been redeemed and is one of the girls now. No, she doesn't get a pass for all of her misdeeds. Insta-redemption is just a way for Marlene to switch around who the villains and heroes are so she can surprise the audience later. She did it with Mona, Toby, and Ezra and seemed to feel satisfied that the audience bought it each time (although a lot of us didn't) so this time she thought she could do reveal and redemption all in one tidy episode.
  21. Meh, I find it hard to swallow that PLL has some deeper feminist meaning when 90% of the show is cheap thrills and shock value and only 10% is storytelling (which frequently contradicts itself). If examination of deeper social issues is what they are going for it is an even greater failure than I thought. Of course I am 15 years out of college (and my last feminist theory course) and probably the most elderly of PLL viewers at 37 so your mileage may vary. And Marlene is just as bad as her female villains. Instead of taking responsibility for her shitty storytelling she blames fandom for not getting her vision. Sure Marlene, it's always someone else's fault isn't it?
  22. Considering the writers' history I still don't trust them not to do that.
  23. Ali said something to Cece like "You can't just kidnap them and keep them prisoner." And Cece looked into the camera and said to the Liars, "I can and did!"
  24. Oh and what was Cece's intention for framing Ali for Mona's murder? Was it so when Cece went down for Wilden's they could be cell mates and braid each other's hair?
  25. I never trust any of the characters' accounts of anything. Any of that could be rewritten at any time based on the whims of the writers. My biggest issue with Cece as A (aside from the massive plot holes in the logistics and timing) is her absence from most of the show. She had almost no interaction with the PLL and we the audience hadn't seen her enough to really feel anything for her at all. And her partner was merely annoying. This should have been a huge betrayal to the girls. I half-expected Aria to be like "Who's that again?" Cece with a partner in Mona, Toby, Ezra, Wren, anyone closer to the girls would have been more compelling. And I hate that after these finales Marlene has to answer all these extra questions because she "didn't have time" in that one episode. Um, what about the other 9 episodes this season before that one? Ugh good thing I've basically been hate-watching since she redeemed EzrA.
