  1. What happens to Rachel’s hand??? Yikes. My 14 yr old DD had way more sympathy for Rachel than Leah. DD is a dancer so I suppose she relates more to that struggle than Leah’s boyfriend obsession. Rachel has the added pressure of having a twin who is gifted academically so it makes sense that she would need diving to feel special. Who do we think the remaining operative is? I suspect Nora because she is so smart and is desperate to save her sister. Maybe she thinks this is going to be empowering? Otherwise maybe Dot? She did mention watching all the survival shows.
  2. I just started watching this with my 14 yr old daughter. We both really enjoyed the first episode. I kind of expected that the crash was probably engineered by the Dawn of Eve people (having seen similar shows in the past) but it blew my DD’s mind. This will be fun to watch with her. DD could not stand Leah. Although she sees her as a victim she can not understand her continued obsession with the boyfriend. I think I am a bit more forgiving but DD gags every time the relationship comes up. As for the rest of the girls, so far we find Fatin, Shelby, Martha, and Dot to be the most likable. Toni is pretty obviously going to be nicer under her rough exterior. I was surprised by Jeanette’s death, especially because she was an operative for the group. It will be interesting to find out what went wrong. I think this show will be fun. It sort of reminds me of the show where people were kidnapped and put in that hotel in an empty fake town in Mexico. (Persons Unknown?)
  3. I'm still not over this. I was never the biggest Logan fan. He was extremely flawed in seasons 1-3 and now he's suddenly perfect. Meanwhile, Veronica has not grown at all since her teen years and is maybe behaving more recklessly (the drug use does not resemble early VM at all). For some reason Logan is desperate to marry her (even though she's a huge mess) and Veronica resists (and toys with cheating) until she almost dies and suddenly realizes she can't live without him? Then to kill Logan on their wedding day, with one final bomb (from the not-so-smart pizza guy?) was just so CHEESY. You know it's bad when you don't even feel sad about the character's death, just mad at the writers for making it so stupid. Logan leaving Veronica would have made so much more sense. Veronica still could have taken off and gone on the road and had new relationships and given RT the spin-off of his fantasies. I am not sure about a season 5 with Veronica off somewhere else. The strength of VM (like iZombie) was always the cast and interaction of the characters, the relationships. Veronica on her own is not as interesting and the town of Neptune is as much a character as Logan, Wallace, Weevil, Dick, and Keith. I mean, even Murder She Wrote was better when Jessica was in Cabot Cove and not meeting with her publisher in New York or at some distant niece's wedding out west.
  4. Mona was imagining that while looking in her snow globe. Honestly they should have had the whole show be Mona's imagination considering how ridiculous the plot became. I know it's hackneyed, but so is every other plot line on this show.
  5. So basically all 4 girls end up with their abusers? How romantic. The evil twin plot was so incredibly stupid. I have seen this done a million times better on daytime soap operas, probably because soap writers actually write long arcs that make sense. They don't just toss out a bunch of clues and red herrings and then try to figure out how to tie it together later. Like others, I thought the finale made it even more clear that Wren was supposed to be A instead of Cece/Charlotte/Charles. This show had so much wasted potential. The first 2 seasons were pretty solid, but when they stopped using the books as a general guide the writers got lost. I was angry about the show revealing Toby and Ezra as A and then taking it back. Toby had legitimate reasons to want revenge and Ezra was a creepy stalker/statutory rapist. However, the show really jumped the shark when it brought back Ali from the dead and took away everything that made her entertaining. I can't think of anything interesting that happened because of Ali's return. It made the show so much worse.
  6. The "elite team" moms have zero self awareness as usual. I rolled my eyes at them complaining about the mini moms arguing amongst themselves. Really? Because they are so above that? Also they need to not act like their daughters are above dancing with the minis. An advanced dancer dances with anyone, even a beginner, without worrying about how they look or what they "win" at a fake competition. There is plenty to be learned by leading a younger dancer in a duet.
  7. I finally watched this on my DVR. I expected to hate it. I hate this type of show. I hated Parenthood, which I guess a lot of people loved (still don't understand), but I enjoyed this. I read nothing about this show and did not predict the twist. I am glad the "us" are actually related and not brought together by fate *gag*. I usually hate anything sappy or sentimental so we'll see if I stick with it, but I was engaged through the whole first episode and set it to record next week.
  8. They are pretty. I wasn't bored. That's good enough for me for a premiere. I will watch again and see where it goes.
  9. This show reminded me of Matlock (yes I'm that old). Pompous but charming main character (MW needs to work a little more on the charming part but I think he can deliver). Wealthy, but (almost) always innocent client. Murder always solved by the lead. The jury analysis is the twist that makes it different. I thought they tried too hard with the jurors talking to the camera (like early Sex & the City) and I bet they'll drop that quickly. The cancellation of Mysteries of Laura left a fluffy mystery hole in my TV schedule that this might fill. I expect it will improve a bit. I loved seeing Frederick Weller on my screen. Oh how I've missed Marshall Marshall Mann.
  10. I enjoyed it. The cast is great and the premise is interesting enough to keep me watching the next few episodes.
  11. I agree that the pineapple is probably not significant. It was Christmas and they and were tired (maybe drinking?) and left food out. Patsy was apparently so tired that she fell asleep in her clothes so I don't find it odd that she forgot to put food away. I can imagine JonBenet waking up and coming downstairs and finding the pineapple. My 6 year old has done this. In any case, I highly doubt it's Burke. If he had struck her with a flashlight and killed her, why would the parents cover it up by staging a sexual assault, making a garrote, and writing a rambling ransom note? That makes no sense. Why not claim she fell down the stairs or just get rid of the body? That's what most people would do to cover up a murder. Sure, it's possible, but it's certainly not likely.
  12. I was laughing so hard at Ian's "I can do it, I just don't want to." He reminded me so much of my kids in that moment. Me: You need to learn to tie your shoes Kid: I can tie my shoes, I just don't want to Me: You need to tie your shoes because you are going to trip Kid: I like them untied, but I can tie them Me: Okay, if you can tie them, then do it Kid: Well, I could, but I'm not going to Me: See, you can't tie your shoes
  13. Here's the way I interpreted the 911 call - Patsy calls in a panic, she puts down the phone when a sleepy Burke wakes up and having overheard about the ransom note, asks, "What did you find?" John and Patsy try to get him out of the situation and decide to call friends to help with Burke. The "Help me Jesus!" makes more sense with "What did we do?" (as in what did we do to deserve this?) or "What do we do?" (as in requesting guidance from God) rather than "What did you do?" In any case, they sound legitimately panicked to me. I do think this group is trying to point the finger at the family and interpreting the evidence to fit that scenario. Isn't that exactly what the police did at the time? Henry Lee seemed like he was the only one not going into this assuming it was the family. I was offended by the "friend" who was cut off by the Ramseys. She was upset that obviously heavily medicated Patsy saying, "Keep your children close!" scared her daughter? What the heck is wrong with her? Patsy's daughter was murdered. It's not about you.
  14. Oh God, that was bad. That was really, really bad. I thought I had mentally prepared myself for the awfulness considering the shit show that was the Charlotte/Charles/A reveal but no. So Noel was involved with the dollhouse and torturing the girls because he didn't get what he wanted, but he didn't bother to tell us/the Liars what he wanted? WTF did he want? To date Aria? A date with Aria is not that exciting. Trust me. Wasn't he helping Ali when she was "dead"? Why didn't he just tell Charlotte where she was? Or Jenna, if Jenna is so determined to kill Ali? And Jenna taught him to smell fear? How exactly did she conduct these lessons? And he managed to fall on an axe at the right angle and with enough force to cleanly cut off his head? When Jenna turned out the lights and said, "Now you see like I do!" I really, really wanted one of them to say, "Actually there is quite a bit of ambient light in this room and we can still see pretty well." How hard is it to hide from a blind woman ladies? Why was Mary Drake creeping around the house but she didn't bother to shout out a warning to her "daughter" that it was a trap? Ali: I'm bored and lonely and you're easy, so come over and kiss me Em. Why has Toby not lost his drivers license yet? The man is in a ridiculous number of car crashes. Obviously he's not dead but it doesn't look good for Yvonne. Caleb and Mona tailing "Jenna" continue to look way too comfortable together. Maybe a little something with her between Hanna and Spencer? It would not surprise me considering how quickly he bounces from one woman to another. So who is driving the van at the end? It can't be any of the main 5 or Toby/Yvonne or Mary Drake or Jenna. It is probably not Mona or Caleb or Ezra since they were seen elsewhere. Who does that leave? Melissa, Wren, Jason, Mr. D, Lucas, Paige, Sydney?, Sabrina lol, some dead person who isn't really dead, anyone else?
  15. LOL I just realized the way Marlene talks about the show reminds me of Donald Trump talking about everything. It's going to be great! The most romantic season ever! All the questions will be answered! Fans love my twists! My twists are the best! (Before I get ripped apart, this is not a political commentary, and I don't have any interest in discussing politics or going off topic) I really want this show to end with the girls coming together and solving the mystery without the villain just revealing him/herself. I want a happy ending that is not based on romance. I'm sick of the show perpetuating the idea that the key to happiness is being with your soulmate.
  16. Dear Caleb, please leave town like Toby and Ezra. I'm sure Paige is just back to be a potential Mary Drake baby. Now we just need Mona and Lucas back. What about Mike? Or is he too young? I loved that Ali was dressed like a typical girl (jeans!) in the beginning of the episode, but of course that was just Hanna's dream. Even Hanna wants to fix Ali's wardrobe.
  17. I spent most of this episode just admiring how pretty Garrett is. I enjoy this show even though I'm not commenting. It definitely falls in the mindless entertainment category for me. I'm not sure the flashbacks and the "ghosts" the characters brought with them really work with the real ghosts/demons at camp. It feels like too much or a bit forced and unnecessary sometimes, especially with so many being killed off.
  18. I liked the call backs to seasons 1/2 like the creepy massage and "I see you". When Spencer and Hanna were snooping in Jenna's room I half expected Toby to walk in and say, "Again without gloves! When will you learn? You make it so hard for me to cover for you!" Are we sure Mary Drake is Mary Drake? Could it be Jessica? Beef Wellington and jewelry aren't exactly a smoking gun but Jason suspects something. Also, where the hell is Mr. D? Is he alive? Was it Mary who mentioned the cellar and led the girls to #Jessica'slair? What face was on the mask at the end? I was only half paying attention. I really hate the masks and the fact that the characters in PLL universe are so easily fooled by them, so anybody could be anybody else in a mask. It's such lazy writing. Why is Aria marrying Ezra 5 minutes after they got back together? And why are her friends letting her? Of course they are the same friends who did nothing when they learned of her relationship with her teacher. :/ How did Toby manage to dump Spencer when they weren't together? I think the writers are trolling us for calling Caleb the best boyfriend on PLL, because now he belongs in the Rosewood boyfriend hall of shame with Ezra, Toby, et al. Watch him turn out to be Mary Drake's son. The real mystery is why I am still watching this stupid show.
  19. Again with the Scooby Doo masks. Oh well, I suppose they are more believable than the obviously fake Ali masks that fooled the girls in the first 4 seasons. The Emily scene was just ridiculous. Was that diner A's diner with the "pretty eyes" waitress? LOL at Caleb telling Spencer, It can't be Mona because I yelled at her in an elevator and then she made me uncomfortable. I thought Ezra spilled the beans to Liam in an attempt to break them up. His reaction to Aria writing his chapters "out of love" to "protect" him was creepy. Speaking of creeps, I think Dr. Rollins is trying to out-creep Mr. Fitz. Maybe they have a bet going or something. How old is this guy? He barely looks old enough to be a doctor, much less the criminally insane Charlotte's doctor. Speaking of more creeps, Dr. Wren is still a wild card. He did know his way around Radley, so if someone is messing around in the walled off section (which somehow was unnoticed/ignored in the hotel renovation) it could be him. I do like the idea of Rollins and Wren being the same person, because on this dumb show, why not?
  20. It seems like the writers were never really sure themselves about who did what and how it worked. In the Mona reveal after her arrest she said to a mystery person "I did everything you asked me to do" which implied she was more of a minion to a big A but the Charlotte/Cece A reveal has Charlotte stealing the game from MonA at Radley. Yet somehow Toby was recruited after the homecoming dance and was working for A before and after MonA reveal. And he was just doing it to protect Spencer. That doesn't make sense. They obviously had no real plan because the seasons are all filled with major inconsistencies. Every time the girls are sent a creepy message or locked in a room the writers should know who is doing it and why. But they obviously don't know and it shows.
  21. Yes, the Alison thing is super irritating. The only way her absence makes sense to me is if she killed Charlotte and counted on her friends doing enough stupid and incriminating things under pressure to take any suspicion off of her.
  22. I actually have no problem with the Caleb/Toby talk. Heck, they seemed to hang out more often than Hanna/Spencer in the time jump years so it makes sense. I am rolling my eyes at Toby/Spencer already pining for each other. If they must put the high school couples back together (gag) let it develop more naturally over time rather than just dropping an anvil on us. If they really are the most epic romances ever, why do they only thrive when the girls are in danger?Ew.
  23. I am also Team Kalani. She seems like such a sweet girl, well spoken, beautiful, and a good dancer. I like Nia and Jojo a lot too. I think the 6 year old is adorable and has a ton of potential. I just am not a big fan of competition dance at that age. She's too young to spend hours and hours dancing every day. She needs free play and rest. I think her dance time would be better served in class learning technique and control rather than just tons of choreography.
  24. Aria seems determined to find every possible suspect and put her fingerprints on every possible murder weapon. Ugh Toby/Spencer/Hanna/Caleb awkwardness. Please stop it show. Move on already. Yvonne is probably the new nonsensical Shana sort of A. Emoji A is irritating the crap out of me. Just write words. The scary messages on mirrors and in fortune cookies were way more threatening than a stupid cartoon pig face. And the Scooby Doo style ripping the face off mask at the end was ridiculous.
  25. I have no problem with a Spencer/Caleb relationship post time jump. It would be different if they were still in high school and Hanna and Caleb had just broken up. They are grown ups who have been apart for years (long enough for Hanna to fall in love and get engaged to someone else). I certainly could not care less if one of my friends decided to date one of my high school or college or grad school (hey, I'm old okay?) boyfriends. I really, really hope they don't try to reunite all of the high school couples. Why even have a time jump if they are going to do that? Dammit I wish they had just kept Cece alive and killed Sarah and her stupid gloves. We are supposed to feel bad that Sarah got injured in the process of trying to murder the Liars? WTF Marlene! This is probably the stupidest thing that the show has tried to sell us and that is saying a lot. This is nothing like the Jenna thing. Oh and the show brought up Melissa's video confession about Bethany?'s (I'm losing track of fake Alis) murder. That is about a thousand times more interesting than anything to do with Shower Harvey. Of all of the details left hanging from the first 5 seasons, why do they need the Sarah thing?
