Spoiler Discussion: The apple was poisoned?!
Souris replied to regularlyleaded's topic in Once Upon A Time
Interesting theory that Gold is Emma in disguise. I think Regina will be the one to kill Hook, to harken back to Emma giving her the dagger in ep 1 because she'll be able to destroy her when no one else would. I think after Hook jumps off the roof in ep 8, DS finally lets him pull out Excalibur. Then he becomes a Dark One too, based on his costume spoilers of the dark jewelry & the hair parted on the opposite side. Emma won't be able to kill him, just like Merlin couldn't kill Nimue, so Regina steps up and does it. So Hook is the price & the sacrifice, but it's ultimately Regina who saves Emma. This show always sets it up to be somebody else as the hero, but it's always Regina who swoops in at the end and gets all the glory. It's possible Hook may be in on it and asks Regina to do it, but I'm doubting that. And then Emma will thank Regina for killing her boyfriend. So, basically, the arc will end with SQ killing CS and Hook's death looking permanent. They will probably make it look a bit nebulous so both CS and SQ fans can talk themselves into being appeased. I do NOT think anymore that this is going to be some grand romantic thing that CSers are assuming and counting on. -

Actually, the hole in the theory is that Michael Raymond-James is a regular on a midseason show for NBC. -

It definitely looks like Emma has one of Hook's rings on a chain around her neck. I can imagine their hands being ripped apart as he's pulled away and his thumb ring slipping off into her hand. Emma, Hook and an unknown woman filmed a scene together last Friday night. I'm guessing that whatever spell Gold does with the dagger (perhaps his blood is used because he's someone who died and came back) is used to allow Emma to communicate with Killian's spirit via the woman (Nimue? Persephone?). Since the TVLine spoiler (which I think may be about Hook) indicated it would look like the death is permanent, I'm guessing Unknown Woman tells them that there is no way to come back from the Underworld, so it's a goodbye scene between Hook & Emma. Very bleak cliffhanger! I cry. The fandom burns the Internet to the ground over the hiatus. -

Where do you get the demo half-hour breakdown? -
I discovered that a long time ago, which is why I don't bother reading the reviews anymore.

There was no football game ending from 8:30 to 9. There's always a football game STARTING at 8:30, so that's a constant. (My Panthers are now 6-0 baby! :) But this is the biggest in-ep drop so far this season. TBH, my Panthers are not generally a big draw nationally, so I think viewers got bored with this ep. 5x01: Steady at 5.88M each half hour 5x02: Went up, 5.27M to 5.39M 5x03: 5.34M to 5.09M, so a drop, but less than half as big 5x04: 4.81M total viewers each half hour 5x05: 0.4M drop, from 5.24M to 4.84M -

I didn't enjoy this episode very much. It didn't flow from last week AT ALL. It felt like there was somehow an episode missing in between. Last we saw Emma, she was happy in a field of flowers kissing Hook. This week, suddenly she's got the Dark One voice going on in Camelot. That was too jarring. And it was ridiculous that she found out about Snowing being under the sand spell because a dreamcatcher randomly told her. That was so contrived! And where was Hook? He would have been GLUED to her, knowing about her Rumple visions, but he could've stopped her from going darker, so the writers simply had him inexplicably missing. I found the writing very awkward and inauthentic. Not the first time, of course. But sad that A&E produced another subpar ep. All in all, it was kind of boring, which is weird to say given that Merlin was released, they found Excalibur and Emma pulled out Violet's heart. But it just wasn't an enjoyable, entertaining episode to me. Total letdown from last week's excellent episode. The SQ baiting wasn't as bad as 4x05, but it was still bad in the double-standard department of ignoring Regina's crimes and letting her yell at Emma self-righteously. And of course the continued Neal whitewashing. I really didn't need all the references to him. I laughed when Merlin told Arthur he was a disappointment. And yes, Merlin is much hotter here somehow than on HTGAWM. I do think I may have a concussion from being hit on the head with all that foreshadowing, though.

This tweet had me in hysterics:

Hmm, Twitter appears not to be broken or exploded after this ep, despite the new writer's predictions.

She didn't say "happy tears." She said the crying was "the good kind." Writers love angst, so she'd probably think some tragic, sacrificial death would be "good crying." I think Hook could be counted as a "co-lead" on the show. I think any of Emma, Regina, Rumple & Hook would qualify as "co-lead." Co-star could be any of a number of co-stars, so IMO co-lead could mean the same. -

If that TVLine spoiler about a fall finale death refers to Hook, it's going to be a BRUTAL hiatus, because it said the finale would end with it looking like a permanent death, and Matt had conflicting info about whether the death would stick or not. I do not want to live in that world/fandom with a seemingly dead Hook for three months. As if the fandom isn't a snarling pit of ship vipers as it is…. -

The writer later said it didn't mean anything and it was just a joke. I don't think she's quite learned yet how the fandom overanalyzes things. I swear, if they have Regina swoop in at the last minute and save Emma after all this CS setup, more heads than Funko Emma's will roll! I don't see how they're going to cram everything into the midseason finale. I'm worried it's going to be rushed as hell just like 4x11 and CS will get screwed out of a payoff AGAIN. -

I lean toward PapaHook keeping tabs on Hook at various points in his life. And it does look like he'll be of the immortal or at least very well-preserved persuasion. I'm just not going to be able to take it from an emotional and fandom chaos perspective if they leave the midseason finale looking like Hook is dead. -

So Papa Hook was filming with Hook in his old pirate outfit. Or at least they were on set at the same time.
