Here's a thought. Merlin can heal. If he's tethered to the sword, does that mean Emma could somehow access his powers via the sword and heal Hook with it?

I wonder if Hook gets caught in the magical crossfire of the Emma and Merlin battle?

He looks dead. And it looks like she's drawing something dark out of him. Drawing Death out of him? She's not Dark Swan yet, so I think she goes full dark in order to save him. Either by this act she's doing here, or crushing someone's heart later. And somehow the sword gets put back in the stone.

Merlin didn't go dark when he was tethered to Excalibur because it wasn't attached to the dagger at the time. The darkness is attached to the dagger. Once the dagger is joined to Excalibur, I imagine the darkness is attached to the entire thing. Excalibur wasn't light or dark or anything when it was just a broken sword. I could believe that Emma plans to do something that would result in her death and that Hook takes her place. It's possible she wants Regina to ultimately kill her like she asked -- but in a way that would now keep Regina from becoming a Dark One because it would destroy the Darkness. But either Regina decides to kill Hook instead or Hook & Regina come up with it together. About there being a link between Merlin and Hook -- I had this random thought that maybe Nimue was pregnant when she became the Dark One, and Merlin is an ancestor of Hook.

There was a spoiler about Arthur being restrained when they leave. I bet Guinevere does end up ruling Camelot after she's de-sanded.

Hook is mostly missing during the SB scenes where the Dark Ones/cloaked figures are running around SB & Nimue is marking people on the wrist. There were two scenes filmed with him, one with Regina and nobody saw what the other one was (or at least nobody on set spoiled it). He was spotted wearing a cloak, though that could have been for warmth between takes. Or not.

I am. All his jewelry turns completely black, even his belt buckle. His hair is parted on the other side.

A lot of CSers seem to think that CS will have sex in this ep after Hook goes Dark too, which I would HATE. If they have sex now, they're not really themselves. They've got a creepy Dark Once audience hanging around, ready to pop in at any moment. That's not what I want for their first time at all. Tenth time? Go for all the Dark sex! But not the first time we see. We haven't seen them have sex, so it's either their first time or OUR first time. And why couldn't we see them have sex before now if they had? They had to wait until it was Dark, because only "bad" characters are allowed to have sex? This show has a TERRIBLE track record of how it presents sex. Apart from the Snowing tacos scene, it's all been dubious consent issues or tinged with adultery. So no thank you to Dark CS sex. It would taint CS forever for me. I think it's clear that Hook becomes a Dark One too after he's tethered to Excalibur; the black jewelry, all-black clothes & hair parted on the opposite give it away IMO. You can see Zelena with a hat in the scene where he's grabbing his heart, so she's the one tethering him, like she did Merlin. She's the only one who saw the spell, so Emma has to have her do it. I don't think there is a "light" end or a "dark" end to Excalibur. I think the darkness is coursing through the entire blade now. I also hate the idea of Emma sticking someone else's heart or part of heart in Hook. He would no longer be fully Hook, just a meat puppet for someone else's heart, so CS would be in effect dead.

Yeah, I think the 9 p.m. hour will take a hit b/c of The Walking Dead.

I think a lot of factors go into an individual ep's rating -- competition, how it's advertised, the previous week's ratings, if it's a holiday, etc. This ep started higher than last week's but lost a lot of viewers and ended up with fewer viewers at the end than last week. The show is in zero danger of being canceled, but an in-ep drop is never good, because it shows that people actually overcame their inertia and turned the channel. 5x03 & 5x05 also had big in-ep drops -- the Camelot-guest-focused ep & the Henry/SQ-focused eps. I think people get bored if the focus isn't on the core characters. Take note, A&E! And, ha, thanks for the Bingo card! Too funny. ETA: Oops, I got 5x03 & 5x04 mixed up. 5x03 was the Charming adventure.

I have a suspicion that either he or a family member is ill. His last two Twitter posts were about cancer research. He's still listed as a co-executive producer on the show.

I'm not sure they meant that Nimue was the beginning of all dark magic, just the beginning of her particular strain of dark magic, that became the Dark One. At least that was my take-away. And, anyway, Regina is Light Magic now, doncha know?

My money would be on Hook then.

I think others started doing that after SQ started doing it. It's so annoying and pointless and ridiculous. Some were mocking that practice by posting random ship names from other shows the other day -- Spuffy! Steroline! Coliver! Sculder! I have to confess that snark amused me.

What do you think they're doing? Bitching at Adam, Jane, Brigitte and ABC on Twitter. And also posting "Swan Queen!" on every post.

He was creepy, but he was also sad -- I think he has seen Hook's death.

I know, right? He was super creepy! I wonder what's the story behind the ring?? It's not like we've ever seen him wearing it before, so it's yet another object they've pulled out of thin air. I don't know why they couldn't have just used one of the rings he always wears.
