  1. At some point, the series also ended up on the Roku Channel (free and ad-supported like Tubi) and they have many of the episodes Tubi is missing. It's a great set up. I'm watching the series from the beginning as well. I started when it first came on Tubi but other things distracted me before I could return to this. I too was thinking about how much I'm enjoying it even though it wouldn't be sophisticated enough for TV today. I have to laugh at how many times they say there's an assassination attempt but they don't know who the target is or who is behind it and they have to figure it out. But the spy games were always secondary to watching Lee and Amanda.
  2. August 10th. https://m.filmfare.com/news/bollywood/made-in-heaven-season-2-the-sobhita-dhulipala-starrer-will-release-in-august-60081.amp
  3. I do think spinoffs are being planned. The six episodes felt abrupt. I think 8 would have been a perfect amount. Shorter than previous seasons but with just a little more room to breath, especially for the corruption angle. Heck, even an extra ep would have bee helpful.
  4. There have been some recent posts that have come close to or have violated the site's inclusion policy. Please take a moment to refresh your knowledge of the policy which can be read in full here. Specifically, take note that body type was added last year; it refers to all body types. Saying someone is too skinny is as much of a violation as saying they're too big. Thank you!
  5. I'm more Poole, Neville, Mooney, subs, future DIs, the lizard and Goodman. (Very much not a fan of Goodman.)
  6. Not only that but the first cakes to go had the advantage of being in the place where if the judges were going to not get their votes in, it'd be with those cakes. IIRC, all of the mixups happened with the first bout of judging for the judges so it's not really that the cakes were superior in confusing the judges but the judges realizing they needed to get their stuff together for the later rounds. I'm okay that they stage the decoys a little bit. The only thing I think should be prohibited is staging the decoys to look fake.
  7. Oops, one more thing I forgot to add when I put an star next to Gillian's name in my post above, the creator of the show definitely seems like he's a Community fan. Not only did Joel McHale and Gillian Jacobs guest star so far, but I believe Richie used the term "streets ahead." Technically, it turns out Community didn't invent that phrase but there was definitely a story surrounding its use and it's not a common US expression.
  8. Everyone in the kitchen has their station so when he calls out four ribeye, the chef (or chefs) on the ribeye station fire up that order which then gets brought up and directed to a table. And he should know how long things take so if a ticket contains an item that takes 15 minutes to prepare and another item that takes 10 then he might wait a few minutes before he calls the second item. And even with tasting menus there's timing since most kitchens aren't equipped to serve everyone at the same time and diners move through courses at a different pace. When Richie approached the table to take the drinks order at the table of Syd's dad, Syd's dad mentioned that he didn't drink alcohol. Richie said he knew and rolled up a special cart. I'm assuming there were mocktail options on that cart her dad could choose from. Both the drinks and the chocolate covered banana were to showcase that personal touch Richie learned at Ever. That's my POV. It's easy to think that it's too much to spend on a meal but these restaurants are often going for a memorable experience. That can be through plating, tricks or unexpected flavor combinations. It can be surprising just how good a dish can be. It's rare that people go to them just to satisfy their hunger. Not everyone wants that experience but there are plenty of people who do and would happily pay for it just like there are people who'd pay hundreds of dollars to go to a concert. I'm divided on 6 and this whole season (as I finally finished it). I too thought it was initially overstuffed with famous actors but most of them are strong enough (Bob O, Jamie Lee Curtis, Sarah Paulson, Gillian*) that I eventually just saw the characters even if they were playing versions of someone they'd played before. The one who absolutely didn't work for me was John Mulaney. Every time he came on the screen, all I saw was John Mulaney. But I had a hard time connecting to with the chaos displayed in the episode and the act that it was one of the longest episodes didn't help. In fact, for the most part, that's my issue with the season. I still really loved Season 2 but it missed some of the smallness of the first season where the goal was just to keep the restaurant afloat and exploring why Carmy was driven to do it. This season was so clearly more traditionally written. Instead of a small sandwich shop, they're suddenly spending hundreds of thousands of dollars trying to develop a Michelin star restaurant. They're sending the staff to cooking school or abroad as if everyone who worked in a sandwich shop is suddenly capable of working at a top tier restaurant. Fishes was the most obvious example of it. Instead of the chaos feeling natural, I felt like the writers were going "look at the chaos" with the yelling and the talk of the seven fishes and the "gravy" and the bits of food stuck to the hood of the oven. But I did like watching Carm and Sydney work in their communication and I do feel like there is more to explore there with their partnership. Syd got some great advice about making sure she knew where she stood in the business--partner or employee--and I don't know that we saw them ever finalize anything. I also loved Forks because it did what Season 1 managed to do and show me something about restaurants, in this case one with a Michelin star, and their POV of customer service. I look forward to a Season 3 (assuming they get one but considering Hulu was touting this season's success, I imagine it'll happen.)
  9. S3 is on Netflix in the US but Season 4 hasn't been released yet. Seasons 1 and 2 were basically one story and packaged together so you might not think of them as separate seasons.
  10. June 30th. I still have The Bear to watch but I got sucked into this show again. It's still so much fun. I don't love the change of eliminating a contestant each episode. I liked last season when they had a second chance to prove themselves. This is especially the case with episode three when a strong baker was eliminated because the judges couldn't get their vote in on time for two of the contestants. In episode two, hats off to those judges for finding all five of the cakes. That's pretty impressive--especially the Peleton trainer judge who noticed nuances other judges might not have because of her familiarity with the equipment.
  11. The first two episodes were good. This show is still so gorgeous to look at. It's so cinematic.
  12. Please don't use spoiler tags for episodes that have aired. That means, no spoiler tags in this thread for this season since all episodes have dropped. If you'd like to help people avoid being spoiled, list the most relevant episode title or number which signals either how far you watched or which episode you'd like to discuss.
  13. Please move the discussion about the soaps of years past to the Small Talk thread. Thank you.
  14. I watched this series for the first time a month or so ago and I liked it for the most part. But the one thing that struck me about it is how much it felt closer to the reboot of L&O than the original L&O. It's there in the music and some of the strange legal decisions. I find it kind of funny because it debuted closer to the first 20 seasons and yet it feels like this is the way they've wanted to go with the franchise since even back then.
  15. Please be careful with the discussion of casting spoilers. I'll leave the video up because I think you have to look really hard to see other people in the video. If the character is on the show now and is in that video, it's fine to talk about them. But if you think you see someone in that video that you don't expect to be there, discuss it in the spoilers thread. I've moved the posts that cross the line there.
  16. But I'm pretty sure it did do well in S1 from what I recall.
  17. I think it's because they moved the show to Mondays. It did well on Sundays and that's when people who watch HBO watch TV. Maybe it didn't make up the difference on Max but it wasn't a show created for Max with a Max budget. It had a Sunday HBO budget.
  18. Show me the US streaming site where I can find it!
  19. But isn't mafia an online or card game? It's not living 24/7. I think the isolation of the game makes it more difficult to have that "real life" gut check. But I think the biggest issue is that this is ultimately a judgment game. It's not who you can trust but using your judgment to decide whose behavior is deceptive or who might be preparing to stab you in the back so you can keep them around, use them and get rid of them just before they come for you. And we're told we need to trust our judgment. It is hard for people to accept that they have bad judgment. Ultimately, I think they blame the person they misjudged for being deceptive even if being deceptive is the rule of the game.
  20. Discussion for Ultimatum: Queer Love now has its own thread. Discussion of that show has been moved there and should continue there.
  21. I finally finished the season. I don't think my feelings changed much since the last time I posted with the last four episodes finally available to me. Nadine and Christine just feel like too much of a mess together but I hope they can be friends. I think Orna was a bit too close to them. Sean seemed to make progress but I don't trust it. Josh and Natasha, on the other hand, did seem to make progress and understand themselves, and one another, better. I had more sympathy for Kristi than others but some of that did wane. I think she's justified in being upset Brock stayed with the church for as long as he did. And I do think it's important when it comes to her affair. But she needs therapy. She doesn't know what she wants from Brock. It can't be an open relationship. And she can't promise not to try to hurt him. And she keeps rejecting every version of a marriage he proposes because he's proposing it but she can't given him a version she wants--mainly because I think she wants to be able to change it on a dime based on her wants/needs and then pull it back once she gets that met. In other words, she'd want an open relationship only for the time it'd take for her to be with another man and then to close it again. Brock seems to understand that he's the representative of the church for her but she doesn't want to contend with that and what an impossible situation it sets up for their relationship. I almost wonder if it'd be easier for her to be with Brock if they were divorced than as a married couple.
  22. No but I do think she hoped he'd die sooner rather than later. He was older than she was.
  23. It's definitely better than Call Me Kat but no cats. A cat cafe is an invention for this version of the show. In the original, she owned a joke shop with her best friend. And her love interest worked in a restaurant next door. Not a bar.
