  1. I think she got wrapped up in the wholly inappropriate "share" that the school did. I've heard of companies trying things like this. People feel vulnerable and pressured in these things that I'm not surprised they make things up as a way to truly expose their weaknesses. It's also completely irresponsible of the school to have a student claim to be abused and NOT contact authorities about it. They're mandated reporters. So in that respect, I agreed with the defense attorney (Justina Machado, yay! even if her character was awful). That exercise was completely irresponsible for the school to do. But since the killer wasn't at the retreat, testimony about its awfulness was completely irresponsible and I can't believe the judge allowed it. I also didn't get why she was trying to claim Lily was lying. They only know Lily told Aaron because of the text, which is evidence he at least believed his girlfriend's father was beating her. I also agree we should have had a change of plea and a psychiatrist in this episode instead of the defense attorney just changing her strategy. I like Maroun. And I think Maroun was right. If Price had an issue with overcharging minors, the time to feel that strongly is when they were overcharging black teens and not once a white teen of means commits murder.
  2. Here are some of the guidelines for the forum. Book Talk: It is considered a spoiler and should really go in the Bridgerton forum since this show isn't based on a specific book. Spoiler tag it if you must reference any of the books. Bridgerton TV Series: Talk of the first two seasons is not considered a spoiler. You may reference it when discussing how those events relate to this story. Longer discussions about that show belong in that forum. History: Normally, for shows based on telling the story of historical figures, historical mentions are considered spoilers. For this forum, the rules surrounding this will be loosened a bit because it's a) a mini-series about b) a very short time in the queen's life, and c) we've already seen her future in Bridgerton. Plus, they state very openly that this is pure fiction based on some fact. It has always been based on the Julia Quinn versions of Queen Charlotte and King George more than the real people. That said, episode threads should not turn into history lessons. A separate thread can be created for discussing the real people if there's an appetite for that discussion.
  3. Polyamory is a form of an open relationship and it means having multiple ongoing romantic relationships instead of just external sexual relationships. So Nadine wouldn't just have someone she'd sleep with every once in a while but someone she'd go on dates with...etc. Most people think of open relationships is being able to have sex with other people but most don't enter into serious relationships with those sex partners. The thing that cracks me up the most about these two is I don't think they've even been dating two years at this point. I just think they're wired differently and should accept it. I just can't see it working out for them. Intellectually, Christine thinks open relationships are okay and might even be practical. But in reality, it triggers too many insecurities, especially the way Nadine wants to do it. It sounds like when Nadine is dating someone else, she doesn't have interest in a sexual relationship with Christine. No wonder Christine doesn't think she's enough. I feel like it has to be them and I think it's because of his gaslighting. I've always wondered how a therapist would deal with signs of abuse which I think gaslighting is even if he doesn't hit her. He only got worse when we learned that he hasn't been employed in the five years since they had their daughter. Having him be the stay-at-home parent is a good thing if they agree on it but the way he talked about how he screwed around when he was outside of the country or in a different state made me think he had to travel for work. But nope. Not for work. I'm surprised that wasn't mentioned. Plus, she has two young kids now who probably want to touch her all the time and her husband. I expected her to explore the history of her desire more before and after this most recent baby.
  4. I enjoyed the backstory but I didn't love that they flipped to Simone and Wiley reacting to the story in the present time. It felt jarring even if their reactions to the story are similar to my reactions to the stories.
  5. I'd like to binge this show but I noticed Comcast is missing Ep. 10, 12 and 15. I gather it debuted last night and we're supposed to have all the episodes but now I can't even start it. So irritating.
  6. It's fake. And I think this is the first time we saw her as something other than a figment of Kat's imagination. (Maybe there was a flashback?) She was more snooty in the hallucinations. Although Gideon was much better in his last appearance than he had been in his previous.
  7. I can't muster up that much sympathy for her. Her biggest complaint was that she "threw away her career" to testify and tried to guilt Price by saying someone might replace her who holds more abhorrible views. Sure. Maybe. But one thing the case revealed is that her public hardliner stance had an element of political posturing involved given the work her husband did. She made the lives of trans kids harder in order to garner votes but she wants to lecture Price on seeing them as humans? I do not think so. Plus, one thing I wish they had explored a bit is whether or not her public stance played a part in Taylor's father's inability to accept his daughter. In addition, the decision to offer a deal was a purely pragmatic one. They were afraid that a preteen, who has had difficulty discussing her dysphoria to strangers, who has lost her doctor might not hold up well up against the harsh questioning of her father's lawyer. And they were worried about the effect that might have on the case. Protecting Taylor was protecting the case. And I'd like to know how Price and the wife would have reacted had they lost the case because of it. The congresswoman testified that the dad threatened her husband. They also discovered that the guidance counselor pulled Taylor out of class so she could visit the victim for care but they discovered there was one day that she was pulled from class when the counselor was out sick. They wondered who could have done that. That's when they realized/discovered that Taylor's mother had changed her mind because she saw Taylor suffering so much after her father said she had to stop taking the puberty blockers. So essentially, it undercut the defense's argument that the doctor attacked the husband when he threated to call the police. Since he had the mother's permission, he wouldn't have been worried about the cops coming. The defense decided they were going to call Taylor herself. That's when they decided, for pragmatic reasons, to offer a deal. (See above.) The congresswoman was very upset when Price visited her. Overall, I thought this was a pretty solid episode. The investigation part went well but I think even the legal stuff was better than it has been for most of this season. The only truly wtf moment I had was when Price seemed surprised the defense was planning to call Taylor. I hate when the show forgets that a witness list needs to be supplied at the beginning of the trial so these witnesses--with the exception of last minute witnesses-- should not come as a surprise.
  8. FYI, if you don't have Peacock but would like to check out Traitors, there's going to be a marathon of the whole season this weekend on Bravo. It starts on Saturday at 5 p.m. Eastern with the first through sixth episodes. The seventh episode through the finale airs on Sunday starting at 2:30 Eastern.
  9. If there's another season, I hope she comes back. I don't want to lose Kristen like we lost Breems because of the actor's move to the UK.
  10. This show isn't on the national PBS channels. It's really up to your local PBS station. For instance, my parents usually get the new episodes around now. My local station airs them in the summer.
  11. Oh it's definitely intentional. Or maybe not camp but definitely comic book and over the top.
  12. This had some serious Monty Python vibes for me which makes me wonder if we're going to get thematic allusions to every piece of pop culture that references The Holy Grail. The German Nazis in the first two episodes certainly felt like an homage to Indiana Jones. I really enjoyed this episode the most out of the three.
