  1. Close caption says "official." I guess that's hip hop slang.
  2. I saw it at the Biograph theater in Chicago when it originally came out. Sort of fitting.
  3. I can't see myself buying a house from that guy in the Redfin commercials. Just saying.
  4. "Blood Simple" (still my favorite Coen Bros. film) is on Friday, July 23
  5. As a kid I'd drink root beer and milk, the poor man's black cow.
  6. I haven't noticed cuts, though it might be the Star Trek in on in Prime Time and Maverick at 5 am. They don't even cut the credits, which is pretty common today.
  7. Best pizza chain, IMO, is Jet's Detroit-style pizzas. Being from Chicago thin crust pizzas just don't make it.
  8. I'm sure this has been discussed but the General Insurance ads are even worse than Liberty Mutual (which are really bad), as demonstrated by the fact that their current ad campaign is about how bad all their previous ad campaigns have been. What other advertiser has ever done that?
  9. They have the problem most of the deli chains have, the bread is spongy. Jersey Mike's rosemary parm bread is edible and Potbelly does a good job toasting theirs. I like my bread crusty, just like me.
  10. They also tried to bring in Robert Colbert ("Time Tunnel"), doing a James Garner impersonation, in the second to last season, but he only lasted a couple of episodes.
  11. H&I shows Maverick daily at 5 am central time. That's the ones I was watching. They are back to the first season again.
  12. TCM showed "To Live and Die in L.A." last night. I saw a sneak preview of that movie in Chicago before it opened and by coincidence, William Petersen's parents were siting right in front of me. His mother kept saying, "Oh, My God!" all through the movie.
  13. Somehow "strong arm" sounds like someone who needs a lawyer, not a lawyer.
  14. Having lived through that era, the clothing doesn't bother me now as much as it did then. Cannon's clothing isn't as bad as Bob Newhart's.
  15. Chicago has a "Hammer" lawyer as well. I wonder if every city is required to have one.
  16. Yes, Garner was a star for good reason. I would rate Roger Moore's Beau below Jack Kelly.
  17. Yes, but if it was me being talked smack to, I think I'd say "East Texas Tech" every time he brought the topic up. I think Sheldon would be highly sensitive to that. Besides, in college rankings, I think MIT usually beats out Caltech. (but they're both top-drawer schools). I think he would be insecure about it.
  18. I recall that we kids would discuss the previous night's Bonanza episode in the schoolyard on Monday, but today I don't find them particularly watchable. I just got done watching all of Maverick from the beginning (I saw that the first episode was running on H&I during Covid and decided to watch the whole series. I really liked all the Bret/James Garner episodes, the Bart/Jack Kelly were okay. I also find "Have Gun, Will Travel" very watchable, as is "Rifleman", despite the improbability of it (they seemed to have really good character actors).
  19. The one thing that really bothers me is that Sheldon puts the rest of the gang for the schools they went to, but Raj went to Cambridge, Howard MIT and Leonard Princeton, and Sheldon went to East Texas Tech. I know why the producers had to do this, but it really bugs me.
  20. In suspect in a year we'll be seeing law firm ads for Nexplanon (implantable birth control) cases.
  21. Zliving now only seems to show the half-hour, first season episodes, at least last time I looked.
  22. The only thing that would make them worse would be if they got Shaq to do the ads.
