  1. And it gives you diarrhea. https://www.forbes.com/sites/samlemonick/2016/10/28/that-time-gummy-bears-gave-everyone-diarrhea/?sh=56134ba53618
  2. You might keep a lookout for Ron Howard's soon-to-be-published memoir "The Boys"
  3. I'm not a lawyer, but I play one on TV... but I think its not unusual to name a guardian for one's children in a will.
  4. I'm not a big fan of musicals. I've made it a point of never seeing "The Sound of Music." I tell everyone the only musical I ever liked was "The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton Under the Direction of the Marquis de Sade." It helped that Oliver Reed is playing Sikes.
  5. The songs are very memorable unlike many more recent musicals.
  6. Of viewers, there's two possibilities. Some might watch and be interested enough to investigate further, which is a good thing. Others might think they now know about the subject and go back to watching AGT or Dancing With the Stars, which is a bad thing.
  7. The world has an obsession with orphans. Just look at Dickens.
  8. Not as bad as the one that made it look like a roach was running across your TV screen.
  9. Straight forward history would be nice, but it's television and therefore they feel they need to be "entertaining" (as if actual history isn't). I don't find her analysis very deep (Ken Burns' programs aren't either), but it is what it is. It's better than what's on AHC ("American Hitler Channel").
  10. Unfortunately I don't get Decades Friday, September 3 on Decades, viewers can tune in for a special presentation of a rarely-seen interview with Asner on The Dick Cavett Show during which he discussed Lou Grant and his life before Hollywood. The following day on September 4, Decades invites viewers to enjoy a weekend binge of 84 episodes from The Mary Tyler Moore Show library spanning through Sunday. Friday, September 3 (Decades) 9/8c – The Dick Cavett Show featuring a 1980 interview with Ed Asner Saturday, September 4 (Decades) 12/11c – #DECADES WeekendBinge of 84 episodes of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, airing thru Monday, September 6th at 6am ET Still no Lou Grant!
  11. "Lou Grant" ran for 5 seasons. They show "The Invaders" which only ran for 2 seasons, and "Kolchak" which only ran for one I believe, for example.
  12. In tribute to Ed Asner, MeTV will be running four episodes of The Mary Tyler Moore Show on Sunday, September 5, highlighing some of Asner's best performances as Grant. Episodes include: "Love is All Around" — Lou Grant hires Mary Richards to WJM-TV in the premiere episode! "Once I Had a Secret Love" — After a few too many drinks, Lou has a fling with Sue Ann and asks Mary to keep it a secret. "Lou Dates Mary" — After another disappointing date, Georgette suggests Mary date Lou. "The Last Show" — There isn't a dry eye to be found in this emotional final episode. The two-hour tribute will air on Sunday, September 5, at 2PM | 1C. In addition, MeTV will run Asner's 1963 episode of The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, "To Kill a Butterfly" the same night at 1AM | 12C. No "Lou Grant" though. 😪
  13. The theory as to why it was cancelled is that you had to actually watch the show to get all the jokes, something, apparently, Americans can't do.
  14. The TV show, "Police Squad", was funnier and Peter Lupus played Nordberg.
  15. Maybe now someone will air "Lou Grant" (or at least on one of the channels I get).
  16. I was watching "Animal House" over the weekend and the scene with Bluto in the college cafeteria was immediately followed by an ad for Golden Corral. Those people are P I G S- pigs!
  17. You might also try Stephen Fry's Troy for background.
  18. I remember when I went to have an appendectomy at age twelve, the first thing the nurse did after getting me in my room was to ask me questions off a form. It included things like did I have a nickname, but also asked what I called "bodily functions." Now I knew a lot of names for them, but I picked the ones I thought would be least embarrassing for a nurse, "number one" and "number two."
