I'm trying to forget all this.

Old white men can't jump!

I like Balzac better than Dickens because his protagonists aren't prissy goody-two-shoes.

I really hate these Woodman's yelling about savings ads.

I really liked this book when it originally came out, but when a tried to reread it a few years ago I couldn't get past the first few chapters. Shows how tastes change.

I tried to start watching "Perry Mason" from the beginning on FETV, but I couldn't watch 4 episode a day. -

It didn't seem that ran Patty Duke for very long. I can do without Matlock, even though that's Grandpa Simpson's favorite. Nice having Mannix at an earlier hour, but there are so many shows not running elsewhere, why not pick up those? -
I stopped when he started to inject politics into the stories. I agreed with his politics, but what I liked in the first place that there wasn't politics, and it was the type of book where you'd expect it.

With everything going on in Afghanistan, now is a good time to reread "Flashman" by George MacDonald Fraser. Sums the situation up perfectly. I read a lot of Balzac in the 80s because they related perfectly to that era. I'd suggest starting with a good translation of "Pere Goriot".

Watch the first two, which sort of play out like a movie,. If you don't like those you probably won't like the series. It's very 60s. -

I didn't even realize it was John Goodman back when I first saw it, Just that the face was sort of scary looking. -
Also, on this weekend is "Desk Set" the best librarian movie. Funny thing is it still seems relevant ("The President's Analyst" is another movie that always seems relevant).

"The Candidate" is a good Redford movie, too. I happened to get tickets for an early sneak preview in Chicago. They gave away a bunch of campaign giveaways, tshirts, etc, for the fictional campaign. I still have the "All the Way With Bill McKay" button.

They are also very collectible, so if you are getting rid of them, sell them.

The interesting thing about the Noid is that the reason Domino's dropped it was that a guy with the last name Noid thought the commercials were making fun of him to he held the employees of a Domino's hostage until the police managed to arrest him. He later committed suicide. -

You can check out my "77 Sunset Strip" posts on that page. Yes, they could run those (maybe with "The Roaring Twenties" thrown in) alternately in one timeslot. That would give them more shows before repeating. -
I like bread butts (technically the "heel"- I guess its lower)- the best part of bread. I like crusty bread. I also like pizza crusts. It bugs me when you have a party-cut pizza that some people will take the crust pieces and then discard the crust.

It seems like half the ads today somehow involve "private parts", front and rear, problems "down there" ads to menstrual products, from toilet paper ads to exercise bike ads. The other half have Shaq in them. Now all we need is Shaq doing menstrual ads to complete the circle. -

I think its odd the MeTV dropped "Alf" for "The Powers of Matthew Star" which only ran for 1 season. They also run "The Invaders" which only ran for 2 seasons. How many times can you watch those same episodes (though an "anthology" of 1 seasons shows might be interesting). If they are going to show 1 or 2 season shows on Sat. nights, why not "Middle Man"? During Covid I watched all the "Maverick" shows from the beginning. James Garner definitely is watchable. -
This ad would be more true in the old days when you actually got fed ( for no extra cost) on a flight. Nowadays it really makes sense to bring food. I also print out maps for where I;m driving if I haven't been there before (a point in another of these ads).

He was one of those ugly/cute kids, the cute's worn off with age. -
I saw pictures of that years ago in a restaurant industry magazine. Like a four-foot long tube of reprocessed eggs. I can't say it bothers me but I like the white as well as the yolk. If this sort of thing bothers you, don't read those magazines, because a whole lot of things you get at restaurants are not what you think. Prepared soups are just a salt delivery system. But prepared, salt-free soups aren't much better than eating hot water, no taste.
