  1. At least Arby's still has Jamocha Shakes and Horsey Sauce.
  2. I saw it when it came out and really liked it, but it seems to be very polarizing. Critics at the time largely panned it (Ebert however named it one of the year's to 10 films).
  3. I'm mad at Popeye's for getting rid of Cajun Rice, which was the main reason I went there (Arby's recently got rid of potato cakes, the main reason I went there).
  4. I assume that at some point the Asst. Pastor is going to be the "bad" guy on the show.
  5. It's a very good movie that doesn't show up on TV very often.
  6. I'm rereading the "Flashman" series by George MacDonald Fraser.. Very politically incorrect, but very funny.
  7. I'll repeat my "To Live and Die in LA" story (because I like it). I went to the sneak preview in Chicago of the film and William Peterson's parents were sitting in front of me and his mother keep going "Oh, my God!" all through the movie. It was pretty funny.
  8. They are early electronic machines not mechanical. Probably not connected to a system, but each machine standalone, with, I'd guess, some kind of random number generator, that Sheldon could figure out how to get around. (but I'm not a professional gambler, I just play one on TV).
  9. I wonder if at some point Shelton figures out how to beat the house and bankrupts Meemaw's "casino."
  10. I always thought 1950s TV shows like "Father Knows Best" or "Leave it to Beaver", besides being entertainment, were sort of set up to be instruction manuals for men back from WWII on how to be fathers (even though my father was more like yours than Beaver's).
  11. This evening (11/11) MeTV will be showing the final "MASH" episode followed by cast interviews, in honor of Veteran's Day.
  12. New book coming out in Jan. 2022 about "The Wire": Cracking The Wire During Black Lives Matter by Ronda Racha Penrice "Idris Elba, Michael B. Jordan, Wendell Pierce, Michael K. Williams -- first known as Stringer Bell, Wallace, Bunk, and Omar -- are just a few of the fruits of The Wire we enjoy today. Since its June 2, 2002, premiere, The Wire has been a slow burn, picking up steam each and every year since. As critics continue to grapple with the show and its enduring impact, some voices and perspectives have still yet to be heard. Cracking The Wire During Black Lives Matter remedies this oversight. This provocative exploration of HBO’s iconic show touches on issues of not just race, but also class, power, gender dynamics, police brutality, addiction, sexuality, and even representations of Baltimore itself through a Black Lives Matter lens for some, but Black reality for so many others. Regardless of perspective, Cracking The Wire During Black Lives Matter is an engaging and compelling conversation about one of the most important shows in television history. Cracking the Wire features a cover by esteemed artist Art Sims, who designed the posters for numerous Spike Lee films, including Do the Right Thing, Mo' Better Blues, Malcolm X, Clockers, and When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts, as well as The Color Purple, Dreamgirls, and Black Panther."
  13. I'm just happy they have time to give Missy a line or two. But the explanation can be given in two words: Chuck Lorre.
  14. I always thought "The Wasp" by Eric Frank Russell (which I read in junior high, not too long after it was first published) would make a good SciFi movie. About a sole earthling sent to an alien planet to "wage a one-man war on a planet of eighty million". Instead of using weapons of mass destruction, he wages war with wiles and trickery.
  15. Adam Ruins Everything did a show talking about the scam of mattresses. I find it strange that I could buy a range AND dishwasher for less than some mattresses.
  16. I was just going to mention this ad. Also that he's sitting in front of a huge picture of Jesus. This picture: https://www.saatchiart.com/art/Painting-Lion-symbol-of-Jesus/1031939/3983115/view
  17. Similar problem with the TV show "Death n Paradise" after 10 seasons I'm surprised anyone's left alive on that island.
  18. They also show "Young Riders" among other mainly westerns.
  19. I tried to watch it when it was on INSP before (I think Sunday mornings). Couldn't get into it, though I thought I might try the book at some time (never read any Michener).
  20. I noticed INSP replaced "Alias Smith & Jones" with "Centennial" on Saturdays. 😪
  21. They mentioned that this was the first time these "Blondie" movies were shown on TCM. Hard to believe, but I guess they aren't in TCM's film library. The endless showings in the 70s and 80s sort of killed that movie for me.
  22. Isn't there anyone in Hollywood who can come up with an original idea?
  23. I liked when they tried to humanize Mary (like watching "Road House"), but they don't do as much of that as they could. It would have been nice if she and the Reverend had been singing about something besides Jesus.
