  1. Yeah, ever since the disgusting Velociraptor/this is what it's like to have a daughter rant, I've been anticipating more asinine tweets/facebook posts. I know many like him, but this is the type of dude I would RUN the hell away from in real life.
  2. How in the world did this episode have a TV 14 rating? There were multiple naked ladies on screen! Again with the dancing? Please make it stop! I was so sad to see Seth's beard go. #shallow There are too many separate stories going on, and most of them aren't interesting. The girls as sex slaves thing is disgusting and Tattoo Girl is boring. I'm most engaged in Kate's story, I think. Poor poor Kate. Seth just ditched her (what a dick move), her dad is dead, her human boyfriend from the first season is dead, her Culebra boyfriend is dead, she had to help cover up her friend's murder, and her brother tried to eat her for dinner. This girl could use a break.
  3. So, Richie goes from being haunted by Santanico/terrorizing young women/mutilating the poor bank teller because of these visions... to sleeping with Santanico and giving her a tennis bracelet (very high school, btw). WTF, show?! I actually prefer crazy/hallucinating Richie to the version we have now. At least he was funny and wore nifty glasses. Santanico spent the entire episode...giving girls dance lessons. Pointless. Not a fan. I also find the tattoo girl pointless. Don't appreciate that she seemed to replace Kate in this episode. I'm conflicted...I don't know that I ship Kate and Seth (she seems SO young), but I do enjoy their dynamic. BUT I wouldn't blame her for falling for him cause he's so pretty. I find both Gecko brothers attractive, actually, but in very different ways. Richie is brainy and sort of boyish looking, and Seth is sex on a stick, ha! Yes, I'm shallow. If Freddie is immune to the culebra venom, does this mean that he could be used to produce some sort of anti-venom or cure? I admit, I don't know how these things work!
  4. I didn't even know that this show existed until I saw a gifset on tumblr. I marathoned the first season this weekend and made it about halfway through the first episode of season 2. I'm glad that Kate and the Gecko brothers made it out of the bar in Mexico (that seemed to go on FOREVER), but I'm not happy that the brothers have split up. The bickering was my favorite part...I found Richie quite funny, actually. I don't care about the Culebra lady that Richie is dealing with and I hope that she goes away soon. And poor Scott, I just don't care about him, either. D.J. Cotrona growing out his facial hair this seaon...yes please! I don't know what the age difference is supposed to be between him and Kate, but I don't think I'd be able to resist the guy if I was staying in hotel rooms with him. Just saying.
  5. Carter's drama looks sigh-inducing. AND WILL WE NEVER BE RID OF CRASH? This dude would survive Armageddon, I swear.
  6. I could be making this up, but I feel like Daphne has always maintained that her life is more difficult than it would have been if she was hearing. I swear that she complained about the struggles she faced in her chemistry class last season...I mean, even Mingo made a comment about that during their little argument (to which Daphne replied she was just "venting" or however she put it). And I know that she was just trying to offer Toby a different perspective, but I felt supremely irritated that she was interfering in a decision that had nothing to do with her. Lily has first-hand experience in dealing with a family member with a genetic disorder, so she is the expert here, not you Daphne! Every person that Mingo is introduced to seems to find him off-putting, don't they? Can't say I'm a fan, either. I hope we're not going the "Mingo is secretly an awesome guy and great boyfriend" route. I'm enjoying the Bay/Travis friendship, but I hope that things remain platonic. Travis has dated Bay's sister as well as her good friend, and Travis/Bay both just got out of serious relationships. Bad idea!
  7. The last episode or two of the season left a really bad taste in my mouth (one scene, in particular, still really bothers me, but I'm not about to rehash discussion on that). I wasn't thrilled about Felicity and Oliver running off together because it didn't feel earned, and it couldn't fix all of the issues that they needed to have an actual discussion about. I would have definitely preferred if the couple ended the season in a decent place, and season four was about rebuilding their relationship while transitioning from friends to lovers. Sadly, because all complaints last season fell on MG's deaf ears, I have zero trust in the EPs to really turn things around. I don't know how reliable Wendy Mericle is, but I do know that I trusted MG going into season 3, and that absolutely turned out to be a huge mistake on my part. Fool me once, and all that.
  8. Two things I’m bitter about from season 3: The handling of Felicity, and the handling of Olicity. So, I’ll give you some background because I think what I’m about to say will not be a very popular opinion. Going into season 3, I was super psyched about the kiss, and there being only one woman for Oliver this year, and Felicity getting her own love interest (yay, we’d get to learn more about her). Sigh. But they just botched the shit out of everything in the third season, and I have no idea if I’m even going to continue watching this show anymore. I HATED what they did to Felicity. Rigging up that voice modulator to trick Quentin? Awful. Telling Laurel that she had a light inside her that Sara never did? Terrible! I hated the fact that she was dating a self-proclaimed stalker, I hated the stuff with the dress/necklace, I hated that her story became all about Ray. And yes, worst of all, I hated all of the crying. Sure, real people have emotions and cry, but coming from the character who was usually responsible for infusing a little bit of happiness into the show, it was too. fucking. much. Sadly, Guggenheim, Felicity is not bulletproof. I also hate the mess that they made of Olicity. They took my # 1 ship and turned it into something I’m meh about now. Didn’t even think that was possible. We missed all of the good, fun parts of the relationship last season and got shitty angst instead. I feel like we deserved a nice build up to the sex scene, and we didn’t get that (I mean, they were heading the right direction at the end of season 2, but then the third season blew that all to hell). Reading MG’s interview about the love scene, it felt like “Well, we needed to fit it in somewhere before the season finale, so that was a good spot, I guess.” Then the show threw the two together at the end of the season so we missed a ton of good relationship stuff AGAIN? Ugh. It probably sounds like I’m very angry, but I’m actually not. I’m sad that this show was able to reduce two things I loved to two things I’m apathetic about. Add in Laurel's increased presence, and nope, I just can't do it. I’ve accidentally come across a few season 4 spoilers, but nothing I’ve seen has really peaked my interest, and that’s such a difference from this time last year. Oh well, life goes on, and I’m sure I’ll find some show to obsess about next season, but damn, season three was a disaster.
  9. Hmm, I'm not sure about this show. I felt like it started going off the rails with the Shayla/drug dealer stuff. Was that even real? Who knows. I would have preferred if Mr. Robot was really Elliott's not-dead father because now I basically have to question everything I see, wondering if it's real or not. I guess that's the point, but it's an exhausting way to watch a show. Probably an unpopular opinion, I know. I enjoy most of the characters, and parts of the story are interesting (I find the hacking stuff really engaging), but I don't want to spend every minute wondering if what I'm watching is real, or if it's a hallucination, or if there's going to be some big shocking reveal right around the corner. Hmm...conflicted.
  10. Sadly, I'm just not digging most of the storyline involving the President. I think it's the actor---I didn't like his character in Mad Men, Homeland, or Desperate Housewives, so I get annoyed when I see his face. Not his fault...he's probably a lovely man in real life, but he's played some douchey characters. I wasn't overly-attached to Ravit, but she was one of the few female characters on the show, so I don't understand why they felt the need to kill her off! I would like to see more women out in the field, but I guess that's not going to happen because Foster is pregnant, Rachel is on ship-arrest, and Garnett is vital to ship operations. Granderson is all we're gonna get on missions, I guess. I miss the Tex/Rachel flirting and Danny/Kara relationship stuff. The show has really cut back on the romance stuff for some reason. Maybe that's not what the audience wants to see. I don't know, but I always found Tex's crush on Rachel amusing. And yes, the dialogue continues to be just AWFUL at times. Chandler's entire batshit crazy speech involving aliens was just completely ridiculous, and the president's speech was laughable. The guy just has no charisma, I don't know why anyone would watch his video and think "yes please, sign me up!"
  11. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! So disappointing to find out that's not his real voice :( Oh well, life goes on, I suppose.
  12. Oh no, I did not realize that this was a one and done type thing. I also didn't realize that the ratings were not great either. I watched the finale and assumed that the second season would begin with Childermass and maybe Segundas trying to get Jonathan and Mr. Norrell back. Well, now I'm sad :( I'll admit, The Gentleman grew on me...he was actually kind of funny at times. And speaking of funny, Mr. Norrell trying to "blend in" by performing some dance moves in the fairy land cracked me up. I hope that the man who played Childermass shows up in something good soon, because I'd like to listen to his lovely lovely voice again. Same, same. I was pretty meh on Jonathan until he began his descent into madness. Loved him by the end...I guess that whole storyline just really worked for me. I'm very glad that Jonathan and Mr. Norrell finally came together in the end, and I thought it was just the sweetest thing when Norrell told Strange that his book was the greatest book of magic that he had ever read. Aw!
  13. It's frustrating to watch Cameron be offered $5 million for an idea that wasn't even hers, and was something she wanted to scrap on top of that! Meanwhile, Donna, the brains behind community, is saddled with an unwanted pregnancy (which was terminated, yes) and a sick husband. I know, I know, it's that old chesnut "life's not fair," but I really want Cameron to fail and Donna to come out on top.
  14. You know, Gillian's a mess, but I still like her. She makes some really terrible choices, but she generally knows that and takes responsibility for it. Contrast that with Celia, who always seems to have a "but" attached to every explanation she gives. Like how she apologized to Alan for handling the affair news badly, "but he just kept going on about Gary when he could see how upset she was" (paraphrasing here). Loved that Caroline told her wedding guests that her mother wasn't there because she's a narrow-minded bitch (okay, she didn't exactly say that). And then Celia was all upset because she thought that Caroline should have told the guests that Celia was ill. Personally, I think that she should have told people that Celia was upset about something that happened with Alan fifty years ago when he was married to his first wife, so she opted to stay home and pout instead of attend this very important life event. There is just nothing that they can do to make me like Celia at this point. It's awful, but I find myself hoping that she'll die because I don't want to watch this character anymore. I know, that's terrible, but she is a fictional character, so I don't really feel that bad. Sadly, I still think that Celia will be the death of poor Alan.
  15. Maybe I'm awful, but I'm hoping that Mutiny is a complete and utter failure, and all of these people walk away with nothing (except for Donna and Tom). I guess it would make me a sellout or whatever, but I would have taken the deal. Pass up $5 Million, new hardware, nice offices, a 64% salary increase, etc.? No way! You take the money, and walk away in a few years if you have to. But then Cameron would actually have to be a responsible adult with a job, so I guess that's a no go. I had to laugh at Cameron going on about how Mutiny is their company, blah blah blah, and then we find out that no, 90% of it belongs to her. Like I said last week, Donna needs to bail - she smart and has great ideas. She doesn't need Mutiny! Speaking of not needing Mutiny... Mutiny needs James Cromwell, but James Cromwell doesn't need Mutiny. They won't sign the contract and take the deal, so all he needs to do is steal the community idea, pour money into that, and have someone else develop it for him. How about someone like Yo-Yo? And then it's goodbye Mutiny!
  16. I find myself really enjoying Jonathan and his storyline, and kind of disliking Norrell. That's a surprise to me because I was kind of meh on Jonathan when the series first started, and I thought Norrell was an entertaining little man. But at this point, I'm really not a fan of Norrell's secrecy, paranoia, and overall controlling nature. Here's hoping that Percy (don't remember the guy's actual name, ha) meets a very bad end. The way that he's always whispering in Norrell's ear, advising him on what he needs to do, is quite irritating. Oh, and I didn't appreciate the way that he kept referring to Childermass as a "servant" (Can we talk without the servants present? and all that nonsense. GTFO!). I find that I have to watch with the Closed Captioning on, or I miss a heck of a lot of dialogue. I mean, it doesn't help that half the people are talking in riddles, but still...
  17. Regarding the photo of Willa, Emily, Stephen, and David, I wish they wouldn't have let EBR cut her hair...I preferred the long locks. I'm one of those that doesn't get the love of the height difference thing...but when you're tall, you'd sometimes happily settle for someone roughly the same height or taller. And actually, at 6'1", I don't find SA to be all that tall. Lots of folks that size here in the Corn Belt, but that's probably considered above average for Hollywood, I guess. I think that I've missed something about Ian Somerhalder, maybe? He's always seemed like a very down-to-earth guy, and I love that he's all about animals and protecting them. I don't follow his social media, so maybe he posts gross stuff on there? I don't know...?
  18. Oy, I'm really behind on this show. I did feel a bit bad for Sammy when he was talking about how he didn't believe that his father liked him, but then he learned of his $100 million inheritance, and he made it clear that he didn't plan on sharing with his sister, and I thought No wonder people don't like you, asshole! So, your dad dies, and you inherit all of this money for no other reason besides the fact that you're the first-born male, and you don't plan on splitting it evenly with your sister and mother? Douche. Have fun paying that back when the world learns that Barry is still alive, asshole. As you can tell, this really annoyed me.
  19. Thomas said that when he saw the clothes on the beach (last episode), he thought that someone was drowning. Kitty apologized for alarming him. Then he replied, "I've been alarmed since the moment you arrived." Cue intense staring and deep gulp by Thomas :)
  20. I'll admit that I don't even question the things that are a bit unclear. Sure, I wondered for a second why Ross had a green dress stashed in a trunk, but hey, it led to Ross caressing Demelza's neck with his lips, so I didn't give it a second thought. Yes, I'm oh so shallow, and I usually watch these period dramas for the pretty people and their romantic entanglements. Bonus points for the lovely outfits and gorgeous scenery. Shows like this are a welcome distraction from the bajillion other things that I have cluttering my DVR right now.
  21. I somehow managed to miss all of the hype about the last 30 seconds, but even worse than that is the fact that my DVR recording started a bit early, and I accidentally saw Mary jump from the roof while fast forwarding to the start of the episode. Oy. I'd say that an Adam/Rachel hookup in imminent. Practically every episode they've had little "moments," and this episode was no exception. There was the scene where she asked if he liked anyone else, and he replied "maybe" while looking right at her. And then there was the scene where she was coaching him how to speak to kids by getting right down to their level. It's going to happen. I don't know when, but it's definitely going to happen (unless the show is renewed and they try to drag it out as long as possible). I thought that it was stupid that Jeremy's fiancee seemed jealous about him coming to Rachel's rescue. What was he supposed to do, let her get attacked by Mary's crazy abusive ex?! I think that some (most) of these people need to take a step back and look at their choices. Even at the end, when Mary was standing on the roof, Quinn was yelling at everyone to get a camera up there. This poor lady is contemplating suicide, but we've gotta make sure we get everything on camera! Awful.
  22. Surely there's a difference between "Crusie is a bestselling author, so I doubt it was "poorly written," but I don't actually care enough to go and check. You can judge for yourself, if you like" AND Crusie is a bestselling author, so of course her review wasn't poorly written. Right?! I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but damn if I don't often have to scroll through pages upon pages of back and forth arguments, so I'd like to clarify. Of course bestselling authors are capable of writing shit, BUT THIS WASN'T EVEN THE POINT OF MY ORIGINAL POST! My point was that SA seems incapable of handling criticism, and in the Crusie instance, I believe he called her review "poorly written" not because it actually was poorly written, but because he was upset about her negative evaluation of the episode. Like I said, I'm moving on because I don't think anybody cares to read two more pages of back and forth over something so stupid, but I wanted to clarify because clearly there was some misunderstanding or something going on there, and it seemed as though my words were being twisted.
  23. These highly competitive types crack my shit up. Can't handle criticism or failure at all. I envision a meltdown on facebook (followed by a deleting spree) if the Casey Jones role doesn't go over well with reviewers. I remember when someone sent him Jennifer Crusie's critique of the Clock King episode, and he commented that it was "Poorly written and seemingly annoyed. Otherwise tremendous." Crusie is a bestselling author, so I doubt it was "poorly written," but I don't actually care enough to go and check. You can judge for yourself, if you like.
  24. What's REALLY frightening is that Celia is based on a real person. The head writer of Last Tango, Sally Wainwright, based Celia on her mother, Dorothy. Dorothy actually reconnected with her long lost love Alec (thanks to social media), and the two married. I hope this is a very loose adaptation, because if Dorothy was actually similar to Celia in real life...wow.
  25. Cracked up at Demelza wrestling Jud to the ground. OMG, haha. Verity is so sweet and lovely, and she deserves better than looking after Francis and Elizabeth. When Ross left her sitting alone at the table during her meal with him and his new wife, her high-pitched Ross! was adorable. I know that he didn't have a clue, but when Ross was telling Demelza not to fasten her dress too tight for the Christmas dinner because they feed you well and he knows her appetite, all I could think was "She's pregnant, you asshole!" I'm glad that Elizabeth is kind to Demelza, but she's just such a bore. I really don't get why Ross is so infatuated with her. I find Demelza much more interesting with her sense of humor, snark, and her dedication to hard work.
