  1. I can’t even anymore!!😀. All the best for St. Toby of the Nice Guys, doer of no wrong in the relationship!
  2. She confronted him because he lied by omission to her on a pretty huge piece of information—-that he could have had a job back in LA as they planned. Toby: Does something wrong Audience: Damnit Kate, why did you make him do this wrong thing & why don’t you react perfectly when Toby’s breached your trust again? Me: stop making me point out when Kate has a point.
  3. I loathe Toby & see through his manipulations to get what he wants from the beginning & compound that with his lie by omission act when things would require hard conversations so he doesn’t do the conversations but still does whatever he wants & shifts blame when called out. Loathe.
  4. If that is what it takes to keep this wonderful show running for years, bring on all the product placement!
  5. Trick question. Only a self-assured man would accept temporary assistance from a brother-in-law who has funny money levels of money.
  6. Periodic reminder that Toby taking job in SF was supposed to be temporary. Toby lied by omission that he was offered job back in LA. Said it was beneath him & salary cut when busted. Refused to disclose proposed salary. Later admitted not taking job wasn’t about money. Unilaterally changed plan that only way to save marriage was for Kate to move to SF. That’s just this season for things he’s done Mostly doing this for giggles, but sometimes I feel like facts we have actually been shown get rejected in interpreting all things in Toby’s favor while wanting to push all blame to Kate. Lord knows she’s got a long list of her own, but those feel well covered.
  7. I continue to loathe Toby, but that doesn’t blind me to the fact that he wasn’t the only one making mistakes in this marriage. I also do not see any retconning of his character.
  8. I’m guessing between Jane Champion’s nonsense about them a few awards shows ago & somehow Will Smith’s nonsense in sticking them in the middle of his stuff tonight, we shan’t be seeing Venus or Serena at an awards show any time soon!
  9. Every single day since Toby turned down the job, he has violated a promise they made he would look to find a job back in LA. Every single day since then he has lied to his wife. I’m sure there have been conversations about looking in the interim. I am sure he has not. Every single day, I think, for months. He’s done that before. Lied for days on end to her about things he doesn’t want to have a conversation about. And now, after repeatedly shattering her trust (she’s now just processing all the lying), he issues ‘what else could we possibly do but move here?’ a ‘my way or highway’ ultimatum.
  10. I can assure you if my partner gave me an ultimatum like that after lying to me about opportunity to move back to where we lived (as he agreed when he moved away), he would not like the answer.
  11. Not meant to be a negative spin to Toby; meant to countenance the notion that he will just be ‘giving’ her money that has been stated elsewhere above as though it is not an obligation of his. Also, just a note that higher earning women are also likely to have to pay alimony to their ex-husbands, it’s not just ex-wives who receive alimony.
  12. Toby will owe (not give) child support & alimony (at least, insofar as alimony until she remarriage).
  13. For the record, Kate has made no mention of relying on Miguel. She’s been charged with lots of crimes she hasn’t committed yet here. She’s not my one of my favorites, but I’m willing to see how it plays out before condemning her.
  14. Exactly. I don’t recall anything about surgery being required in the contract—-just weight loss.
  15. The marriage is over when Kate makes the call, even if they don’t ‘know’ it yet.
  16. My recollection was she gave an interview & stated it was in the contract & subsequently walked that back and said it had just been in conversations about where they saw the character story going. If you go back early in her thread here, there was lots of talk about it.
  17. Honestly, I haven’t liked Toby from the get go. Been rooting for him to get off the screen since S1. I’ll only be disappointed at end if they get back together. Be gone all versions of him. This really has nothing to do about my feelings for Kate. Just never liked him from day 1.
  18. I’m pretty sure I read an article from Quinta that she was visiting her mom staying late for teacher conferences & noticing things going on that lead to inspiration for this show. The whole thing is a lovely tribute to teachers, this was a nice more specific nod. As for the mother in question for teacher conference, I’m not going to knock her as we don’t know her. Sometimes it takes a teacher to point out specifics to get hardworking parents to shuffle some priorities that they just miss because life can be hard.
  19. The one thing about this show, it never stops giving with backstage drama! Not fully sure I understand this story about the writer above. She does write fiction—is it because she wrote stories claiming them as her own on factual sites? made claims for things under company policies? Claimed a story as her own & embarrassed company? Just weird. Another story about racial profiling on remote set by LAPD: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/greys-anatomy-driver-sues-lapd-racial-profiling-1235114173/

Sure, but for many years was known as the the tournament with the racist fans & despite begging the Williams sisters to come back once they became huge, went without until they chose. A thing can be successful with a huge stain as this tournament was for many years.
  21. Wouldn't the happy ending have ultimately been each woman rejecting this guy?

That is what Venus and Serena did for many years....to the tournament's detriment and great shame.
