  1. RIP Beverly Clearly and Larry McMurtry An illustration I always remembered. Beezuz and Ramona's Aunt Bea: And the theme to LONESOME DOVE:
  2. I didn't realize Isaiah was Carl Lumbly when I saw the scene! I saw him on recent episodes of SUPERGIRL and he still sounded the way he did on Alias and as the voice of Martian Manhunter on the Justice League cartoon. He really got his voice to sound really elderly. That and the makeup I didn't recognize him.
  3. I hope TCM airs "Bye Bye Braverman" soon:

  5. Dang "Death and Dreams" turned out to be both disturbing and sad. Also I haven't seen the Magnum PI reboot but I found out on Twitter the actress who plays the new female Higgins was the eldest daughter in this 2002 episode. She was a baby then!
  6. George Segal had a very small part in the all star 1963 WW2movie THE LONGEST DAY. He played one of the soldiers who scaled the Point du Hoc cliffs along with Robert Wagner, Paul Anka, Fabian and Tommy Sands. Segal is left of Wagner: ETA: What I like about the scene above is while Sands and Anka are in front talking, Segal and Wagner are behind looking at them amused like "Get a load of these singers trying to act!"
  7. They did get a lot of mileage out of the Lighthouse sets! The irony is SHIELD comics were Lee and Kirby and later Jim Steranko looking at 60s spy shows that came out of the Bond craze and saying they could do a more far out and fantastic version without the limits of a TV budget.
  8. I think July is a good release date for Black Widow. Fingers crossed we're all out of the tunnel by then. Another thing I liked about AOS is it had everything I loved about Joss Whedon shows and none of the things I hate. The performances and action on a lot of the Netflix shows were incredible. If the episodes had come out on a weekly basis the buzz they would've generated would've been even greater.
  9. I loved him in Just Shoot Me. THE QUILLER MEMORANDUM is a great spy film in the mid 60s he did also starring Alec Guinness and Max Von Sydow.
  10. I love Hunter and Bobbi and that 3rd season. The "Spy's Goodbye" still makes me emotional. I like Coulson and May being team mom and dad. AOS is as Marvel as the movies in that if you like the characters you'll see them through whatever adventures they have and if they happen to be actually great, all the better.
  11. "FZZT" was the first really good episode and I thought "T.R.A.C.K.S" was a fun, clever episode that showed the potential of what the show could've been if it had stayed simply a spy show with ordinary people. Also ALIAS was a fun show but it also got mired in the whole Rambaldi mythology and Sydney's family drama. I will say one good thing about the entire Jessica Jones series is it made me glad Anakin Skywalker was unlikable in the prequels because man Episode III would've REALLY hurt if I actually did like and care about him!
  12. I'm trying to imagine the first Avengers movie if they didn't have the first solo Thor and Captain America movies come out just before to introduce them. The only characters the audience would know wouid be Tony and Natasha and Bruce. The last because the Hulk is already so famous in pop culture to people who've never even read comics. You'd have to have way more time spent explaining who Cap and Thor then was in the actual movie.
  13. Hated that he made 90s Superboy a hybrid clone of Lex Luthor and Superman(he even wrote a letter back before he worked for DC to the Superboy comic suggesting it) and I really hate how he brought Barry Allen back, undoing his heroic sacrifice from CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS and causing Flashpoint and destroying the post Crisis DC timeline. Also having him be the one to discover the Speed Force instead of Wally West. I wouldn't be surprised if Wonder Woman 3 is going to be way more Snyderesque after the success of ZSJL and failure of WW84. It's just as well, the Amazon and war stuff in the first movie was what Jenkins' excelled at. Doing an actual superhero story seems beyond her.
  14. I'm going to play devil's advocate and say they cut the Flash and Cyborg stuff from the theatrical release because they probably thought they could be saved later for their possible solo movies or the sequel.
  15. John Nettles is really good in the big reveal scene in "Talent for Life". Loved guest star Honor Blackman. Still has that recognizable voice from GOLDFINGER.
  16. I like this first episode and I loved WANDVISION but I'm getting so much "real" from the MCU right now I'm hoping Loki is just some fun hijinks!
  17. This is a touching Ava Gardner in Vanity Fair's article about the making of The making of 'The Graduate'
  18. Kathleen Byron(Black Narcissus, A Matter of Life and Death) was in SAVING PRIVATE RYAN as old Ryan's wife in the bookends and I'm trying to picture it:
