I definitely can see your point. A few of the designers mentioned how much better the atmosphere felt without her it in their TH, and I think you can ask someone a leading question in a TH, but I don't think they force a designer to give a specific answer, so it rings true to me that she was a negative influence and it felt better without her around.

Please come back and gripe. I do love snark! And speaking of snark....dear Aldo, I don't care how many attractive, hip young people you put in your commercials in your ugly ass shoes. Its not going to convince me to buy them. I know you have better looking shoes, because I've been to Aldo. You won't convince me to buy sparkle glitter velcro sneakers and pair them with old man black socks in an effort to be hip and ironic, just because a young blonde girl is wearing them. Please don't depress me by making me think about Seth Aaron and how damn much I love his clothing. Half of those models were probably busy "untucking"....I mean "relaxing" backstage But thumbs up to you, I love Miss J!

At the start of the season, everything Tim said felt so fake, because UTG was just so fresh in my mind. And those are two totally different Tim's.....but I've been trying to put UTG out of my mind. Its slowly fading, and I'm trying to use every excuse in my mind, bad editing, maybe he was really sick or depressed while UTG was taping, maybe he had an evil twin, or some sort of brain chip or something.

So, I saw previews for both the Reunion and Threads. I'm so in for the Reunion......based on the preview for Threads....that looks like a big 'ol no for me, too many kids trying to be "precocious" which, to me...is code for bratty.

I thought this finale was fine, and even better because I was fine with all 4 designers, wasn't pulling for anyone wasn't pulling against anyone.... 1. Amanda - I liked some of her pieces, the blue was very pretty, the first outfit was an absolute no for me, not with those pants, no no no no. And thats not even Amanda's style, so I'm not sure why she did that. I do love that necklace and I think Zac is right, she should be selling that right now. I really liked the long brown/black dress. I liked the pants with the red/black top. I agreed with Heidi, the dress with something on top looked odd. 2. Char - I actually really enjoyed Char's collection. I think the romper and the jumpsuit in the Italian print were very nice. I think the shorts on the romper were fine, and actually fit much better than Kini's leather shorts. I liked the hoodie dress, and I thought it fit in with the rest of her collection. I liked that I could really see her customer in the clothing that she presented, her clothing gave me a feel for her customer and I do not think that customer is a Forever 21 devotee, and honestly, I think its a little snobby and elitist to say that. I agree with Nina, I think Char falls flat when she tries to design for the customer she thinks she should be designing for, but does much better when she designs with her customer in mind. I do think she had at least three misses, the white dress didn't fit her customer at all, and was ugly to boot. The long pants with the overcoat was also a miss, but I think that was probably more an issue of the material she chose, I think with a few tweaks it could be successful, but the fabric was just wrong. The white tube skirt and black top was also a miss, it was too simple, and the skirt looked a little cheap. I think the top could have been successful if she had paired it with something different. 3. Kini - I thought he had some good pieces, but I think there were a lot of misses for me. Whoever said that one of his models was way too skinny was absolutely right, that one in the halter top dress looked like she might have tapeworm. I didn't like the finale dress, I didn't like that other dress with the ruffle on top. I liked the top that he paired with the shorts. I liked the knee length full dress (horsehair?), although I wasn't really into the placement of the black and white on the dress. I liked the pleated dress a lot. But overall, the collection felt depressing to me. 4. Sean - Meh. The first look was gorgeous. But then it started to just feel like a gratuitous use of fringe. Like he just stapled fringe onto everything. The second look, the black and white fringe look, then a orange and white fringe dress. I think it was just too much fringe. He had the beautiful white draped dress, and then some weird orange fringe piece that looked tacked on the back. I'm guessing its supposed to mimic the first wound of Ceasar when he was stabbed, but it just seemed so gratuitous, like it was more there to further a story and for no other reason at all. I thought the orange draped dress was pretty, the silk was beautiful. The final orange fringe dress was gorgeous. But I think he should have limited his use of fringe and I think the collection would have been a total home run. If he had just had fringe on the black outfit, the final orange dress, the orange and white skirt, and maybe one other piece, I think it would have been better. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As for the guest judge, I don't know, I think her voice put me off. I know she is well known, but I've never seen her in anything. I disregarded almost everything she said. It would be nice....if for the finale they could get a guest judge who was another designer. I also am starting to like Tim again, and no, I don't think this is the "most talented season of designers" but I like that he sits back there with them and only says encouraging things, and that he had a mini mentoring session with them after what the judges said and put it all into perspective. This is the Tim Gunn I like, but I'll always be a little on edge after that whole UTG thing.

Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood - General Discussion

There is a part of me that wants to re-watch this video to see what you're talking about, but the other part of me knows that this shitty song is already earworming its way into my brain, so I'm conflicted. ETA: ahh, the power of mute, yes I think it is Vanessa Simmons! -
I know another guy from that area, and I'm always impressed with his positive attitude and commitment to bettering himself. He never has excuses, he is always pressing ahead, and I admire that, and see a lot of the same traits in Char. I am super glad she got to see Rome too, because I think it might have made more of an impact on her than anyone else.

Generally, I would be open to a defense of RBF, but I don't think RBF explains an exasperated sigh, pushing your hair back and a simultaneous eye roll. She was upset that she was on a team with two people she considered to be inferior to her. Based on the two challenges they had, she was right. She had won one challenge and I feel was in the top on the other challenge. Both of her teammates were in the bottom. So, I don't mind her feeling that way, but there is no reason to show it in that way. As someone said before, the two of them probably already feel bad about being in the bottom, so they really didn't need that reaction from her, and it didn't really help anything. If anything it would have made the two of them push against her harder. And this is just the start of the competition, its way early to get your head big from a win. Having said that - I like that she seems willing to stand up for herself and not let herself get steamrolled. I just think she could have done all of that without the eyerolling, or even a little more judiciously. But much better she stand up for herself than do what Joy did, and just keep quiet to pacify the team and end up getting cut.

I've only watched the movies, I had always envisioned Bruce being very bright, probably home tutored on normal subjects, but doing exceedingly well, and when the time came going off to an Ivy League school (because frankly, with that sort of money you could probably be a moron and still get in) and then getting an MBA in Finance. Maybe he would be a few years younger than most kids when he completed his MBA, but after that point he would have the acumen to take over a huge company.

And thats why I don't have such a problem with Mei. Women in general, and especially women of color (IMO) are taught that if they speak up, they are a bitch. Even if its in a reasonable tone and they are just insisting on doing something to make the dish right, but if you speak up you're argumentative, not a team player, difficult to work with....on and on and on. I think that was what Joy was afraid of, and I think it was what Carla had been afraid of. I'm glad to see that Mai wasn't afraid of that. Having said that though, she did go overboard on the eye rolling and what not. The two of them having their Victorian moments (I love that visual BTW so thank you) was even more annoying considering that both of them should have used their time to improve their own shitty creations. I really liked him in this episode. His and Stacy's respect for first responders was very endearing to me.

Oh snap! You were not kidding, she did the full splits! I'm inspired, I'm off now to try to touch my toes! But now I have that song in my head :( Boo!!!!! ETA: but seriously, "Sponsor?" as the name of a song.....it sounds like the anthem for mail order brides around the world. -
And they are so accessible. A lot of times shows go out of their way to show these groundbreaking women as bitches or hardasses, but these two women have been portrayed as friendly, humble and intelligent.

Porsha needs a brain, Phaedra needs a heart, Cynthia needs courage, Nene is a witch, and Kenya knows how to twirl. Maybe kandi can do a production of "The Wiz"

Ummm. Eric Ripert....I wouldn't kick him out of bed for eating crackers ;) But I digress. I'm not sure how I feel about Mei. Pros - I really, really like that she is both talented, and strong in the kitchen. I think too often society teaches women, especially in the group setting to simply "go along and be a team player." And I think that may have been a big part of Joy's problem. I like that she insisted on a certain quality level and would stick to it. A lot of other contestants would have just been like "I think that sauce is gonna be a mess, but I don't want to rock the boat, I'll just let this guy hang himself" but her thought was that the sauce would have to be re-done. Cons - I'm tired of hearing about M. Volt too. She is not M. Volt, she works for him. She puts her pants on one leg at a time, like all the other chefs, they all came in with a great skill set which is why they are on the show. She has won a challenge so far, its not like she has a string of 10 wins under her belt and her team mates have been on the bottom for the last 7 challenges. And her facial expression from the second the two came to stand by her was just wrong. Even if you think they both suck there is no reason for all of that. She actively grasped her head and pushed her hair back, let out an exasperated breath and pretty much rolled her eyes. That chicken must have been tasty, because that corn and brown glob of jelly looked gross. What the hell is he hiding under there???? He wears it with the same passion that Brett Michaels wears those bandanas. Whats under that hat? a monkey playing the ukulele? A rabbit? A bald spot? A flower pot? Whats under there???? Here is the thing that bothers me about KeriAnn during the spat in the stew room. She comes in, says her piece to Hat Dude and then declares that "its over, be quiet!" I don't like that, its not fair to just be able to yell at someone and then say that they can't say anything back to you. When people try to do that it drives me nuts, you're supposed to be able to yell at me, but then its over! No, I get to yell back if I want to. If she didn't want to hear him to talk back she should have kept her opinions to herself. I think standing up for yourself is admirable, but you have to be ready for the blowback too. You have to be strong enough to take whatever blowback comes your way.

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

when did assholes become such a selling point? -
I think the word bully is overused. Now, expressing an opinion about the actions or behavior someone undertakes is called "bullying", anything but ego petting, and highest praise has suddenly become the basis for an accusation of being a bully. I certainly think bullying exists, but I think its a slap in the face of people who actually go through bullying to say that snarking on someone from a reality show is the equivalent of being a bully. I'm starting to feel like the "no bullying" movement has been overrun by people who simply want to behave poorly, but don't want to be criticized for their poor behavior. But that's not really how the world works, nor should it be, if you want to be a bold personality, and you want to behave in a certain way people are going to judge you for the actions you've chosen to take. If this was just a show about design the show would be about 20 minutes long. But having said all that, I will gladly take your train ticket, because I do love snark, so I don't want to risk not getting on the snark train because I lost my ticket!

This show! 1. Can someone tell me where I can buy Natalie's brochure....I mean book? This shit is ridiculous, and I'm almost certain they hired actors to play the "book executives" And who the hell cares about the life and times of Natalie Nunn? 2. Was Judi this awful in her season? I really liked Judi, but now I don't know if I only liked her because she was the underdog, because this Judi is not cute. 3. How is it that Judi doesn't think she is a thief? It doesn't matter if you stole something worth $3, it just makes you pathetic for stealing something so small. And why would anyone in the entire world want to use someone else's lashes? She keeps trying to make it out like she isn't a thief and its not a big deal, but I totally see Camilla's point. Its just the thought of stealing someones stuff, lying to their face about it and then joking about it behind their back. Thats not right 4. I agree with Jada - how the hell is it you sell lashes, but you're stealing someone elses? 5. Camilla - I'm happy for her. It was a shit thing that Judi did, and Judi is looking shittier and shittier, and I don't even blame Natalie for that. But good on Camilla for not going off. I also liked seeing Camilla at church, those tears looked real, and I thought it was nice that she was asking her congregation to pray for everyone in the house even though she doesn't like three of them.

Lets just say they were sitting around the house and the Waynes were going through them. There are boxes and boxes of documents. And that's generally what you'll see if you're searching for the needle in the haystack. They maybe made the haystack smaller, but its still a haystack. You're hiding the needle of underworld figures owning your stock in the haystack of hard to understand legalese and complex financial instruments. I don't think there is one paper that ties the entire thing together, because that would be too easy to find even in a yearly audit. A forensic analyst would need months with a multibillion dollar company to figure out how in the world two underworld criminals are somehow getting the gift of Wayne stock. Is the stock funneled through a subsidiary? Who is gifting the stock? Is it going through an officer as part of a compensation package that they then somehow gift to someone in another country that then funnels it to another account that is owned by someone in Maroney's organization? Is money somehow funneled into projects run by the Maroney/Falcone organizations and then that money used to purchase stock thereby making it a gift? Which of the subsidiary companies are involved? And those are all relatively simple ways to get it done, but add to that the complexity of various Wayne Enterprises subsidiaries with layers and layers of Board of Directors, and officers, and middle management...all of whom get stock that they could funnel and it becomes even more confusing. It just seems highly implausable that a 12 year old child, even a bright one would be able to suss it all out. I doubt the Wayne's would be able to suss it all out since it would require both complex legal and financial acumen. It would make much more sense for Bruce to understand the nuts and bolts of the base businesses, but to understand the complex financial and legal structures would be a stretch, for him to figure it all out in a matter of days doesn't really pass the stink test. I would think even the Wayne's would have to go to someone with more experience in finance and law to figure out how everything was being set up. Unless he has, as a 12 year old learned math to a calculus level (and this is rare for children his age, I would be impressed if he had this at 14 or 15) many of those financial instruments are going to be difficult to understand without context. Even if you have everything cherry picked. Finance requires math, but finance is also a man made creation, so you have to generally have a base understanding of calculus and take at least a finance class, and it would require legal knowledge as well. And even if his dad wanted to train him to run the company, he would likely want to first train him on the base of the business, what does each subsidiary company do, how each company contributes to Wayne Enterprises as a whole? I can't see two loving parents, who seemingly had no idea they were in danger (which I assume because they were walking around in dark, deserted alleys at night with their young son) trying to hammer in complex financial concepts into a 12 year old child's head in the hopes that it will interest him in taking over their company later in life. I would think they would really want Bruce to know the high level, eagle eye stuff I would absolutely expect that those two parents would teach him about the businesses that comprise Wayne Enterprises in wider brush strokes, and then push him to study finance when he goes off to college, or to pursue an MBA so he would have the requisite financial background.

Well, because I'm a giving person, here is something for everyone I made it 1:35 in, and I really like flashy music videos, but what she is trying to do is......just......for me....a no. Okay, I tried again and made it another minute in, I think Hazel E might have a cameo, but its just based on the nose. -

I share this request, because the hairline situation is disturbing, and I'm not sure whats going on Ha! This made my day! Nothing warms my heart like seeing my contribution to the world of outlining recognized by my fellow posters ;) And...if I may respond in kind.... 3a) LMAO. Her ass looks so odd, I was wondering if she has to have pants specifically made for her? the hidden costs of plastic surgery.... 3b) I hadn't even thought of it that way....good point. And who even runs after a dude that you just broke up with? And then is worried about him after he calls you the "lowest form of life." I get that you like him and that he gave you a promise ring or whatever, but he pretty much just got caught cheating on you, and then called you the lowest form of life for wanting to know the truth and you're still running around behind him. Man, you're going to be on national TV! Get some pride, at least in front of the cameras. 3c) Her mother was too much, I don't think he even got to finish the salad course. He was supposed to get through all four courses before the shit hit the fan, he probably had to stop at In-N-Out on the way home. 4) Tierra is so full of it. She hasn't "sung with a band?" and thats why she sounds so bad? Karoke singers sound better. That sounds like code for "I like to use auto tune, and I didn't realize I sounded this shitty in real life!" I mean, all of this, and I mean all of this could have been avoided with a little practice. I can't even begin to imagine what she was thinking, did she think that people were think she was so cute that she could just sound terrible and no one would notice? Does she really think that live bands have autotune? Was she expecting a magic microphone? Was she hoping she could somehow lipsync something? And she did sound winded getting up to the stage, how the hell are you supposed to hold a note if you lose your breath walking the hallway to the microphone. I just can't with her. I'm glad sincere was honest with her, he didn't have to be such an asshole about it, but something tells me that she is the type that if you tell her something soft, she won't take it seriously. Like if you said "Tierra, that was okay, but you probably need to practice a little more before we book you again", she would have only heard "Tierra, you did an amazing job, you really rocked it out, for a second there, I was transported because I thought I was listening to Aretha, or Gladys, and then I blinked my eyes and realized 'no, thats not Billie Holliday up there, thats Tierra'" 5) I agree with this entire point, and will co-sign up to 100% of its value. I gotta say, seeing a Sincere outfit of the week would make for such phenomenal snark, so its a catch 22, but I would love to see where his fashion sensibilities take him. OMG - that is HILARIOUS. Howard the Duck! -
at least they are available in some format. I was dying to watch Fashion Fund, because I was just in that kind of a mood and I wanted to check it out. It was quite literally, available nowhere. And I was willing to pay, I went to Amazon, nothing, I went to ITunes, nothing, the Ovation website, nothing. At some point, I just stopped caring and watched episodes of Criminal Minds. It was unfortunate.
