Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"
ebk57 replied to Betweenyouandme's topic in Everything Else
Peeve, or bad luck... our air conditioner quit yesterday. The guy came out pretty quickly, but he says we need a new compressor (?) and the sales guy can't get here till Monday. Then they have to order it and bring it out to install. So, who knows how long this will take. Fortunately, we have fans. And I like to sit still and not move... 🙂 ETA: I include this as peeve because the last time the A/C went out was also on the hottest weekend of the year 20-something years ago. Or, that could also be bad luck. -
Speculation: Season Forty Six of SNL
ebk57 replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Saturday Night Live
Maybe because the ventilation system helps spread particles and because the AC has to be turned up so strong, they worry about disease spread, in addition to close seating issues. Or not... -
And I totally loved it! It took me about 20 minutes to realize what had happened, and I think it was a stunning ending (stunning in a good way).

I absolutely get the owner - onfield team performance conundrum. And I, too, would sympathize with Mets fans if this happens. I'll still always hate the Mets because of 1969, since there's nothing as satisfying as a life-long sports grudge (I've said it before and I'm sure I'll say it again). So there.

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

I'd imagine it's a take-off of the "freshman 15" - the 15 pounds college freshman supposedly gain when they leave home for the first time. It's just lucky that it rhymes with quarantine. -
All the best to you, your mom and family @Ashforth!!

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"

Come on over a few miles east. We've got plenty of fireworks going off. But then, we often do, so that I notice, then go on with my life. -
I've seen the show 3 times. All the casts have been good to great (the first time was about a month after the original cast left, but Renee Elise Goldsberry and Christopher Jackson were still there - and Brandon Victor Dixon was Burr... swoon.....). The cast I saw at the Kennedy Center (Austin Scott was Hamilton) was probably my favorite overall. However, this cast is pretty darn perfect. I'm guessing I'll be watching this every day for the next month. Because there's nothing more important going on in my life now. I love this show.

We're at intermission now. I'm so happy...

Nope. It's just a natural "talent" of his.

Oh good - I'm not crazy... well, not in that way anyway 🙂 -
$75mm I wonder if they will ever release it in theatres (hope so). I've seen the show 3 times and I just love it. I love it so much, I'm even willing to give Disney some of my hard-earned money for a month so I can watch it several more times.

I'm so sorry, Kemper. I must have lucked out way back in the early aughts with the Feds when my dad died, as it wasn't too much trouble. I wish you all the best in your dealings with them, and in everything going forward. I hope your friends and Barney are a great comfort to you.

I watched Act One last night. It was ... fine. A pleasant diversion from real life. I kept getting the feeling I'd seen it (maybe the last time it was broadcast on PBS), but I couldn't remember. Not sure what that says about the play. Speaking of PBS, I recorded Ann last night and will watch it at some point. I'm also pretty sure I've seen it, but can't say for sure.

Late Night With Seth Meyers - General Discussion

"Quarantine Love" was kinda corny, but Amber makes everything fabulous! Especially Mustache Amber!! -
Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

As much as I love Dennis Haysbert (and I do!), I hate, hate, hate that "safe drivers save 40%" commercial with him in the diner/coffee shop. Hate the counter guy who, first makes him wait, then repeats that stupid phrase about eleventy billion times. Blech. Of course, as I was thinking of stopping by here and ranting that it's the worst commercial ever, they followed it up with the Skyrizi commercial. Just kill me now... -
SNL Classic: Re-Airings, Past Casts, Past Sketches, Past Hosts, the Past
ebk57 replied to vb68's topic in Saturday Night Live
I love Madeline Kahn, so I'm really looking forward to this. May I just air one gripe about the write-up you linked? She does a great job breaking down the episode, but she uses the first 2 letters of the first name, and the first letter of the last name for the cast member she's referencing, instead of just the first letters of each name. I find that...annoying... I actually looked up Jane Curtin's middle name to see if it started with an A - it's Therese, so no. -
In Memoriam: Those We Have Lost from the Music Industry

A tribute to John Prine. It's a lovely show - and only up until Sunday, so if you have time, take a listen. -

The woman at the end was stellar. And John's reaction afterwards, to end the show, unexpectedly brought me to tears. It's a rough time. Tucker Carlson - sentient polo mallet (I think that's what it was...). Tucker is trash.

LSSC: Season Five Episode Talk
ebk57 replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Late Show With Stephen Colbert
He did explain it, but not until the end of the show. I appreciated Seth telling us right at the start. I thought that's what was happening, but I spent the whole show worrying (sorta), so something at the beginning would have been nice. In case I don't mention it enough, I love Jon -

No music tonight. I hope we find out why. -
I was marveling earlier over Joe Montegna's fabulous hair! And a Bonnie Hunt sighting!!
