The Twins are on Colbert tonight. I wonder why...
-
That's it. I'm in the immediate suburbs, worked in DC forever, and even lived there for 3 years before moving back out to Goatville. Don't ask...

I guess it depends on how old you are? I also live in Maryland and am quite familiar with Chocolate City. I'm also ancient.

I usually just drink more. Sometimes, if it's really bad, I'll alert an usher, but that's a crapshoot as to whether it will result in anything. So, I just drink more. Or move. As you said, my ballpark is rarely full...

Soda easily. Past that... I'll go with burgers because I can always make a "burger" taco. Right??

The Washington Post says the internet has not tricked you. This time.

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"

I'm glad it helped!! After checking out the Bugs thread, I see there is a question about getting to the first unread post in a thread, so I thought I'd let people know that in IPS Default, you need to click on the circle or star to the left of the thread title to get you to the first unread post. -
[BUG] Clicking on thread goes to 1st post, not 1st NEW post

If you're using IPS Default, you will need to click on the circle or star to the left of the thread title. That will take you to the first unread post in the thread. -

Yay - the custom home page is back! But, just to keep it on topic, a very, very minor "peeve" - when I click "mark forum read", the "ok" and "cancel" buttons have been reversed. Which means I have to pay attention. I hate paying attention. -
Oh no - you're wrong here. It's a lifelong joy of mine and just because it's April doesn't mean I can't be joyous that it's happening. I have to take my opportunities as they present themselves. It most likely won't last long enough. So there.

I'd guess it went the way of the customized home page...hopefully to return in short order. I love IPS Default because (don't tell TPTB) - no ads! How did you know what I was shopping for?? :) -
I laughed so hard at about 37 seconds in when Willie mentions Joe is well-read and Stephen...asks a question.

I got another customer to help me reach something on the top shelf just the other day. I don't have time to hunt down an employee. If you look pathetic enough, people will stop to help. And I don't have to work too hard to look pathetic. -
I like the Go-Gos. Or how about the Half-Smokes. I have to say I first read "Griffins" as "Grifters" and thought that would be perfect...

If you have access to Costco, they have bedding and all of the sheet sets come with 4 pillow cases. And they're quire reasonably priced. And to whomever mentioned Wegmans and pre-weighing produce - we have Wegman's here and I've never come across that option. My peeve is that our state liquor laws are so backwards, Wegman's can't sell wine. Which is just sad... -
Doubleheader. First game into extra innings... the 8th. The 8th inning is NOT extra, dammit.

Not if it's bundled with the cable and the cable goes out. Which annoys me no end. We kept the land line for just this situation - if the power is out, or the cell service drops - but that isn't the case anymore. Still, we're keeping the landline since family/friends have the number, even though we use the cell phones more than 90% of the time. -
Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

No fire station across the street that I'm aware of. There was a school across the street where they did parking - blocked-in parking, so you couldn't leave in the middle of the game. It was...interesting. There was another school off to the side about a block away where my mom taught before I was a gleam in anyone's eye. In other words, in the stone age. Camden Yards was the first of the new "old style" ballparks in the city, not the 'burbs. And they did a really great job with it. Although, Janet Marie Smith, the architect from HOK, had all of the seats facing the warehouse instead of the pitchers mound. Because the warehouse was so fabulous and who would want to actually watch the game. So for the first couple of years, if you were sitting down the lines in the lower deck, you needed a chiropractor before the All-Star Game. They have since fixed the angle of the seats.

Waves back!! (retroactively...) I've had a partial plan since the first year they offered them - 1984. My seats at Memorial were upstairs between home and first base, about halfway up. My seats at Camden Yards are upstairs behind home plate, about halfway up. That took some getting used to (the way I followed the ball was different), but I've come to love my seats. Also, they're always in the shade which is very helpful in the summer. The first few years, I wasn't crazy about the Park because it was always sold out with people who didn't really care about the game. But that's changed since you have to care about the game to bother coming out to see this team 🙂 Anyway, I've come to love the place, although Memorial Stadium will always hold a special place in my heart. 29 years. Yikes.
-
I was there on the first Opening Day and was shocked when I read that it was 29 years ago. Where does the time go... And yeah, Memorial Stadium was a dump, but it was OUR dump, dammit! I loved that place. I was just reminiscing the other day about parking in the 'hood. I don't know why that popped into my head, but it did. It was always an adventure.

Okay, so maybe I should just buy wine now and not bother to save for the WS... 🙂
