Couldn't get through to Sinkholes R Us quick enough...sigh. I don't like the Rangers, but I reeeeeeally don't like the Astros. Really.

Ugh... I hate this game. Is there any way I can order up a sinkhole in Dallas really fast??

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

Just for you all because I like you... I'm sharing this from the Washington Post. Having read this, she's even more annoying than I could ever have imagined. The Woman, The Little Pill, The Big Story. -
LSSC: Season Nine Episode Talk

He is, indeed, taking tonight off. Which is wise since he didn't sound so good last night. Hope he feels better soon! -
My best friend's birthday is on Halloween, so we have an excuse to be out of the house. Yay!

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage
ebk57 replied to Maverick's topic in Commercials
I agree that's annoying. But I'm talking about actual screaming. The woman in the Jacuzzi commercial screams when she sees her new, prefect shower. The woman in the phone commercial screams when the guy proposes. If I'm not paying attention (and I try not to pay attention to commercials), I'm startled and a bit alarmed when I hear people suddenly screaming on my TV like they're being attacked or something. -
After opening and monologue... I liked the football/Swifties sketch. Just Pete was hilarious. WU was pretty great although the Coach Prime thing went on a bit long. Everything else was fine. And Taylor Swift. I didn't even realize she was there (shows how close attention I pay) until I read it on the hellscape that is Twitter. So I just ran through my DVR recording and yeah - there she is. The world is a weird place right now.

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

Commercials with people screaming. In addition to the Jacuzzi Bath Remodel commercial, now the Google Pixel phone commercial has a woman screaming in response to a proposal. Not cool. And really annoying. -
Opening was lovely. Monologue...took a turn... I was confused during the credits when JAJ showed up in the regular cast until I remembered it was a new season. Hi everyone!

All of the 100-win teams lost, so while I still feel bad, I don't feel that bad (or at least not that embarrassed anymore...). Also, post-season merch is already discounted for me, so yeah, I bought some. I mean, I'm getting all that ticket money refunded, so why not!

And they did their one job.

Thanks @cleo It was a fun season and I'm actually looking to next season for a change.

Definitely Thursday. I worked in a theatre (my part-time nights and weekend job) and my husband and his siblings all work in theatre, so we scheduled dinner at a time when most of us could be there. Now, only 2 of his brothers are still working, and the theatres have mostly stopped having shows on Thanksgiving (which is a shame since it's a great way to escape your family), but we still eat mid-afternoon. Which works out because it give me time to digest before driving home. Way back when I worked in banking (my day job), I always had to work on Friday (banks aren't allowed to be closed more than 3 days in a row). I started my current job (not in banking) 30 years ago and I still wake up on Friday morning and roll over to happily go back to sleep while marveling that I don't have to go to work!

Thanks. I believe we have the guys to contend next year. But honestly, I know nothing... I do know that orange sneakers are hard to find. Well, ones that I actually like.

2 new (to me) Geico commercials running during the baseball playoffs: A couple just bought a house, but had to make some "concessions" - and concession vendors start roaming through the house shouting "peanuts", "cotton candy", etc. An umpire calling strikes on the homeowners, strike 3 being the shirt the guy is wearing. Both make me laugh, especially the ump one.

5 games Yes, that's Camden Yards. Still a fabulous place to watch a ballgame. I like the ballpark in SF, too. Lovely view and really good food.

I'm trying not to be depressed, so I'm shopping for neon orange shoes. Because that will help.

Say What?: Commercials That Made Us Scratch Our Heads

Will & Grace I prefer him playing the piano, though :-) -
Discuss or report/complain? I don't think there's a specific thread to discuss them, but if you're having an issue (and really, who wouldn't with these ads??), the place to report it is here.

That's Sean Hayes who I just saw play a fabulous Rhapsody in Blue in his Tony-winning role as Oscar Levant. He's incredible. -
From what I remember, I also think Betrayal worked. The thing with Merrily is the book isn't really great and the characters aren't really likeable. Not that a character has to be likeable to work, but it does have to be well written. Something about the book doesn't hang together, but for me, the score totally makes up for it and I'll see the show any time I can. I have a friend with connections at the NYTW and he tried to get me house seats when it was there. Well, actually, he did get me house seats, but after I'd already figured it was impossible so I'd gotten tickets to something else. And we had a friend traveling with us and he could only get 2, so I had to turn them down. It killed me, but at least I get to see it now. I hope you can see it. Speaking of house seats, I have a friend who worked for Disney Theatrical and when Lion King first opened, we joked about me calling her on Saturday morning for house seats Saturday night...and then we laughed and laughed. We'd arrived in town Thursday and she called me Friday to ask what I was doing Saturday night... and yeah, we saw Lion King from the center front mezz. An breathtakingly theatrical show, even though it's not actually very good.

Thanks! I'm okay with the 5 day rest. Our pitchers are tired, so I'm hoping this will give everyone a refresh. Also, I'm fine not having to attend a WC game. I do hope they schedule game one of the ALDS for daytime so as not to put me in Billy Joel/Stevie Nicks traffic.
