  1. I grew up with the entire set of 1916 (18?) Encyclopedia Britannica. I don't remember what we did with them when we had to finally clear out the apartment. Needless to say, they were not very helpful while I was in school.
  2. I don't think he can tie his shoes. He'd have to bend down and that would be dicey...
  3. The scariest part, to me anyway, is that she's only...32. She's done all that "work" on her face and she's only 32. I can't even pretend to understand that. I mean, she is totally scary, but still...
  4. Watched "Girl From the North Country" tonight. I'd seen the show in NY and at the Kennedy Center. It's beautiful. Highly recommend it. https://www.pbs.org/wnet/gperf/girl-from-the-north-country/16706/
  5. Watched the Great Performances "Girl From the North Country" tonight. It's beautiful. https://www.pbs.org/wnet/gperf/girl-from-the-north-country/16706/
  6. The first 2 panels are missing, but that happens in a lot of newspapers
  7. Had tickets to see him and Sting in September. I've seen him multiple times, and it's always a great show. I guess if I had to pick, I'll go with New York State of Mind (at least that's my pick today).

    MLB Thread

Hope it's not a matinee tomorrow...
  9. From the LA Times, a nice piece on Mary Pickford This is from 1974 and really has nothing to do with this thread...except for this part where she talks about Nixon: It seems so - unfortunately - current. (Not sure if you can link to the piece, but if not and you're interested, I can find another way to share)
  10. This is one of the scariest parts that I'm sure they didn't know about, or more likely, didn't care about. From Newsweek - courts can't enforce rulings

    NFL Thread

    Character is one word...
  12. The LA Times ranks the hosts for the 50th season If this is behind a paywall, I can probably find another way to share.
  13. Pants were definitely track pants. So I guess he was wearing a "suit" - a track suit. With dress shoes. And a white shirt and tie. It's a...choice...
  14. I give it a 75. Thank you for this - it made me smile.
  15. He is, and I also follow him there. However, just like The menswear guy (Derek Guy), he's a lot more fun on Twitter because of the right wing bozos who keep thinking they can get the best of him. But they can't - he's so good at the funny, and true, comeback. The menswear guy is the only reason I'm still on Twitter at all.
  16. I'm really curious about who wrote that. No one in his inner circle could possibly write something that ... normal. No one.
  17. My BFF's sister lives in Erie. Depending on when this takes place, there's a slim chance we might go. I'll let you all know. I liked seeing Kyle Clark from 9 News in Denver in the HBO Max segment. Just because I like Kyle Clark - he's someone who will never back down from Trump. And I don't even live anywhere near Denver. Kyle is great on Twitter.
  18. Since I know how much everyone loves the good nights (ha!) and they were so abruptly cut off, I thought I'd share...
  19. Thanks for your stellar work here, @Galileo908! Don't know what I'd do without your recaps. I enjoyed this one. I thought the show was pretty good through WU, slightly less good after, but fun. Hope everyone has a great summer!!
  20. I just need other people to see this. I don't even know what to say about it.
  21. Here's a gift link.
  22. I am still shocked that I hadn't seen that "weave" until watching the show. It was so "impressive" that I don't understand why no one has tried to 25th Amendment him. He's insane. I hope Jake Tapper is working on a book to be released in 2029... sigh...
  23. Still mad at him for his Biden editorial. I feel like it was unnecessary.
  24. 2 things - RIP Charles Strouse. My high school drama teacher (who unknowingly got me to crave a career in theater) loved Bye, Bye Birdie and staged it any chance he got. And for me, Annie is one of my favorite shows during my time working at the National Theater. https://playbill.com/article/charles-strouse-composer-of-annie-and-bye-bye-birdie-dies-at-96 And, CNN is going to livestream Good Night and Good Luck on June 7th. I'm still mad at George, so didn't bother buying a ticket when I was in NY last. I'm not sure I'll even watch, but I'll think about it. https://www.cnn.com/2025/05/15/entertainment/george-clooney-broadway-play-cnn-televise Oh, and @Spartan Girl I have Next to Normal recorded. I may let you all know what I think when I watch. Or not - we'll see 😉
  25. What is Alexander Skarsgard wearing??? A track suit with a tie and leather dress shoes. I'm having trouble paying attention to the interview.
