S02.E17: This Big, Amazing, Beautiful Life
Percysowner replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in This Is Us
They probably don't read every script, however, if you are going to do an episode that is wildly different from your usual format, it's probably a good idea to run it past the people who are paying you to make the show. Fogelman knew this would be a controversial story to tell because it didn't involve the main characters, so he did the smart thing and ran it by the suits. Personally, I loved the episode. I thought it tied Deja into the fabric of the show. I'm glad they did this episode. -

I think the other reason Child Services got called was because Deja was injured. Yes, she said she had cut herself opening a can, but how many abused women say they walked into a door? How many abused kids say they tripped and fell.Basically Deja came in alone, with a serious injury, her mother couldn't be contacted. She was being unsupervised when when was hurt. That's enough for a call to social services. Doctors are mandated reporters. If they suspect that there could be abuse, they HAVE to report. Once her mom turned up drunk, or possibly drunk and high, Child Services had to step in and assess the situation. Deja's mom was in bad enough shape that she needed to go into rehab to get off whatever she was using. I didn't find calling in Child Services to be a reach at all. -
The official announcement So You Think You Can Dance Renewed for Season 15 at Fox. I'm really happy. I guess they thought Vanessa Hudgens brought something to the show. Maybe they will use the same format as last season, but it's not spelled out? Anyway, we're back!

Vulture has a great article on all the HGTV flipping shows.

This amuses the heck out of me. I watched a couple of episodes of WOD and saw one of the judges go on and on about how they never knew you could tell a story with hip hop and several people said that she must not have ever encountered Nappy Tabs.

I was thinking that of all the "street" dancers that have been on the show, Joshua would have made the best partner. However, I'm pretty sure he will never be brought back.
-
I always try to remember that this show is one long tryout for these dancers. They are getting a chance to showcase what they can do and how versatile they are over the course of the show. Even when they don't win, or even make top 4, they have gotten the attention of people in the dance world that they would have been hard pressed to reach. Logan is a talented dancer and I think he will do fine after the show. Although I'm not a huge Kiki fan, I don't think he's awful. I also know that some dancers make in impact in person that doesn't come across on TV. It's possible that the judges are seeing something we don't in Kiki because they are watching live.

Lex going home is the only thing that would shock ME. Nigel might well be shocked if Taylor goes home, frankly I'd be surprised, but not shocked in that case. However, I'm fairly sure Nigel is being shocked to bring in viewers. Sadly, there are millions of homes down south in Florida etc. that don't have power and won't be part of the ratings this week, so his shock probably won't help ratings in a noticeable way.
-
The thing is, Kiki's performances are among the most watched on Youtube. This week both of his performances did well. His performance with Koine got 15,000 more views than her routine with Marco. Kiki is happening whether we like it or not. Now this week, Lex dancing in his own style had his video shoot to the top of the pile, so I do think talent will overcome whatever charisma Kiki has, but he does have a following. To be fair, unlike other years where certain "street" dancers had choreography that let them not move much while their partner danced around them (Hi Twitch and the bed dance and the door dance and Cyrus for many dances. I love you both you had charisma out the wazoo) Kiki is putting in the work to learn the steps and dance. He may not be technically great, but he's not bad, IMHO. He's working his behind off and people like him.

Totally agree on Aaron and Jasmine. It would have been hard to beat Fik-Shun and Amy, but I think Aaron and Jasmine could have pulled it off if Aaron hadn't injured himself. He did lose a step due to the injury, although he did great by continuing in spite of it. That really was a great season. I loved Aaron and Jasmine and Paul and Makenzie. Fik-Shun and Amy were good, but I preferred the other 2 couples more.

Johnny said she palmed it. The devices activated when Louella twisted the beads. The elevator got stuck within range of her signal. When they got the elevator moving, it moved out of range of her signal. She then turned off the seed in Johnny. Louella said they embedded in the lining of the stomach. Presumably a doctor could remove the seeds once they got to a hospital.

I've been trying to rank the who can be the possible half Revenant. This is based on the idea that the H/R is already on the show. Wynona - She can't be the chosen one, potentially the mother of a Half-Revenant AND a H/R herself. I don't think they will make her that special. Close to 0% Doc, and Dolls - Same reasons as Wynona, they are already too special to have H/R added on. Close to 0% Rosita - It's possible that she's claiming to be a Revenant but is covering her H/R status. Pros: How did a woman who died in the 1800s get not one but 2 PHDs all while being unable to leave Purgatory? Online classes is possible, but wow! She seems to be an ethical Revenant. They were clear with Bobo that Hell burns any goodness out of a person. Cons: The Revenant reveal is so big that I don't see a reason to change it. 45% chance. The Revenant reveal is a big thing to change Jeremy- He's a new character this year, after they added the idea of the H/R. Pros: with Rosita they have established that Revenants can be scientists and well educated. Cons: He isn't important enough of a character and he's comic relief, not a big one to be H/R. 10% chance Mercedes - Another character added this season. Pros - she survived having her face removed, so girl has something special. Cons: She's been off screen most of the season. Not important enough 20% chance Nicole - Pros: It would be a shock, to say the least. Cons: She really is our normal person POV character. It would interfere with her relationship with Waverly and people LOVE the Waverly relationship. 30% chance only for the shock value. Waverly - Pros: They have strongly hinted at it all season. Something in the DNA test made her think she isn't fully human or at least isn't Wynona's full sister. Cons: It's too obvious there would need to be a twist. 75% chance. I'm guessing it is Waverly and the twist will be that she IS an Earp. Wade slept with a Revenant and got her pregnant. Possible bigger twist Rosita being Waverly's mother.
-
Maybe it only effects full Revenants? It actually is a clue that Waverly isn't the half Revenant. That does leave the question of who is.

So Mayko Nguyen was pregnant IRL. They did a pretty good job of covering all in all. Sci Fi had two series with pregnant actresses that they had to work around.

The winning team got immunity, so there was never a chance for any of them to go home. Generally I think the right one went home, but IIRC, once or twice I thought that it was close between the worst on the losing team and the worse on the winning team.

I really feel for Leonard. It seemed he was perfectly willing to work to "avoid the temptations of the flesh". resist his urges and live a celibate life. Then the Bishop basically tells him that too many people have sussed out that he is gay and made a mistake early on, so his ONLY recourse is to marry and have a family. I honestly believe he wouldn't have even considered leading on that sweet girl (whose name I'm blanking on) is the Bishop hadn't basically ordered him to go find a beard or either never advance in the Church or even lose his job. He's in a horrible, horrible position and he's trying to make it work with a woman he likes, cares for, who doesn't have other options. The only problem is he doesn't want her sexually. Yes, he could tell her his orientation, but that risks her freaking out and outing him. I do believe, if he actually marries her, he will do his best to make the marriage work and be a good husband, even if the marriage is relatively sexless. Sidney and Amanda leave me going between boredom and anger. I watched season one an was completely uninterested in their "star crossed" love. I missed season two and when season three started, all I could think is are they STILL angsting about that boring dead relationship? Geordie and Margaret just make me mad. I want to punch Geordie or better yet, have Cathy find out, get the proof that Amanda would have to manufacture, and then divorce his cheating ass. I'm not thrilled that Margaret is involved with him, but since I think if she does get pregnant, Geordie will suddenly realize that she isn't the great, exciting, sexy affair, but is the same as Cathy, about to become a boring wife and mother. Then he will probably dump her because he already has a boring wife and he doesn't need another, younger one.

S14.E01: Los Angeles Auditions #1
Percysowner replied to Drogo's topic in So You Think You Can Dance
To be fair, I've been on a couple of boards where he is just getting SLAMMED for the (rather innocuous) comment. People are swearing up and down that they will not watch the show. Nigel really does want to keep this show on the air, so he's partly doing what he needs to in order to make that happen. -
He was my favorite too, so I am sad right now. I'm rooting for Emily to take it all now.

Well, Margo did offer to get pregnant and give up that child to seal the deal, but the fairies said they wanted Fen's child. So, I suspect that the Fairies want that child, even if it's not Elliot's OR if they really want a royal child, they may make Margot fulfill her original offer.
