S02.E06: Two Birds, One Millstone
Percysowner replied to Tara Ariano's topic in How To Get Away With Murder [V]
The thing for me is Wes did "let her sleep with Eggs". She thought she was sleeping with Levi, a hot guy who she liked. Wes knew he was Eggs and didn't tell Michaela. He decided that the guy he had just met could be trusted to not sleep with Michaela simply beause Wes asked him nicely. There are things you warn people about. You warn someone who is helping you cover up a murder that she is dating someone related to the person you committed the murder for. You let her know that Levi may have reasons to get close to Michaela that have nothing to do with sexual attraction. I don't see what Michaela is doing as shifting responsibility. I see it as a statement of fact. Wes let her date someone he knew she would not date if she had all the facts. Frankly it would be the same even if she hadn't slept with him. The sex isn't the issue, letting Michaela be in a situation without all the relevant facts is. -
S27.E06: My Tongue Doesn't Even Twist That Way
Percysowner replied to Tara Ariano's topic in The Amazing Race
He doesn't bother me that much either. He's not my favorite, but he's not driving me away, unlike Brenchel who made me ditch the show twice. It's unfortunate that the racers who stood out, the Dancers and the Cousins went out early. That left me with a lot of teams who blended together i.e. two teams of girls that I couldn't tell apart easily, Justin who can grate at times, the Texans who I don't care for and Denise and James (like him have problems with her). I should remember the Paparazzi couple, but they kind of blend into couples who squabble, which I hate. ChacAttack is low key enough that I kind of forget they are there. -
One big difference is that Asher actually seems guilt ridden about whatever he did. He was willing to throw Annalise under the bus, but only when he thought she was guilty. Once he knew she was innocent, he wanted to turn in the person he believes killed Sam. And I did buy that part of it is that since the past he tried to outrun caught up with him, that he doesn't want that to happen to Bonnie. He thinks she has a decent self defense claim. After all, he's seen Annalise get guilty people off before, so why wouldn't she get Bonnie off for killing a man who was trying to rape her? I'm also willing to wait until I know what Asher did. He certainly reacts badly to murder, if his reaction to whatever happened at the kids house is anything to go by. He's traumatized and in shock. The others are all covering their behinds. I don't think Michaela blamed him irrationally for letting her sleep with Eggs911. Wes should have told her who Levi was. Yeah he warned Levi off, but Levi ignored him and he STILL didn't warn Michaela. I'm starting to think that Aiden being gay wasn't Michaela's first "my boyfriend is gay" rodeo. Her jumping to the Aiden is gay after he admits to experimenting as a kid, seemed a bit premature. But jumping to the conclusion that Wes and Levi were in a relationship feels like she has a type and that type is closeted.

I'm certain this was the plan all along. You can't just pull production crews together in a couple of weeks. Plus, some of the earlier challenges were preparing them for this. The Star Trek challenge had them reworking a look and the final choice was about correcting mistakes and improving the makeup. It at least makes it more understandable why they picked the guy who did the best in reworking his flaw, although I still think Scott was robbed. I'm hoping for another "return season" where the losers get another chance. I've liked Nora since day one, partly because on day one I could pick her out of the crowd. I knew who Missy was too, but her work didn't catch me. I do think that Nora's youth is really working to her benefit here. Both Ben and Evan have talked about how tired they are. Being young Nora has more energy and reserves to cope with what sounds like "killer fatigue".

S02.E01: It's Time To Move On
Percysowner replied to Tara Ariano's topic in How To Get Away With Murder [V]
As they pointed out last season they were in Sam's house, uninvited and were trying to steal his thumb drive i.e. his property. Technically they killed Sam while in the commission of a crime, which is murder. Yes, they were defending Rebecca, but Rebecca didn't have the right to be there or to steal Sam's property and they all know enough about the law to know how much trouble they were really in. If a robber walks into a store and tries to steal something and the store owner tries to stop him and is killed during a struggle, the thief is up on first degree murder charges and anyone who helped him break into the store is an accessory. So, no matter how awful Sam was, the kids were in big big trouble. -
I'm sort of sad to lose Jasmine, she was doing so well at first. Honestly, I thought she might make top 3, but I guess she lost her confidence. TrashTalkTV is interviewing all the contestants for this season and they just ran Jasmine's interview. The other interviews are here. They are interspersed with reviews of the episodes. Jason was the first interview she did.

I agree about preferring Neal Dudgeon's Barnaby. I will miss DSI Jones. I'm on Netflix and we only have through season 15. I'll look forward to them getting the rest of the seasons.

I will be very annoyed if Missy stays and Nora goes. Missy has given three bad paint jobs. Nora did one acceptable job and one top look and simply flamed out on this challenge. She deserves another chance.
-
Although I haven't seen anything Missy has done that makes me think she can win this, I must note that last season Logan "I came home from the army and decided to work on special effects SIX WEEKS AGO" made top three and Julian "I've never worked with [insert whatever they were doing that challenge here] before, made it to 4th place. Apparently, they both had real talent to carry them through. Also, didn't Nora say she had just graduated from the Tom WhateverHisNameIs school the day before she came to FaceOff? She's done quite will and I really like her work. Skills are important, but being mad talented is also important.
-
Missy's weepiness is getting to me already. That said, she just missed bottom looks last week. I remember because I was shocked that the muddy paint job didn't hit bottom, then realized that the HR Puffenstuff clam and the face at vagina level creatures really were worse than a bad paint job. Missy will have to step it up to stay around.

A pumpkin quiche? Or hollow out a pumpking and fill it with some kind of dip? A jazzed up apple cider? If you are willing to run with the idea, I think Halloween has possibility, but you have to be willing to be whimsicle.

He got out of jail free because his team took in the most tokens and they were all safe. He also had one of the highest Dial of Doom ratings, so he wasn't going home. He's blown food a couple of times, but not that many and his presentations engage people. I think he's sticking around on his own merits. Dom OTOH, is in trouble. I'm not quite sure it's producer's bias because thus far his food has been good and the people who have gone home really had no chance of winning. Basically he's always been a little better than the person who got sent home. Barring a sudden breakthrough in presentation, I don't expect him to win, but I'm don't think his sticking around is that awful either.
-
I have to admit I don't think of blue cheese as being especially stinky, even though the judges did. Durian appears now and then on Chopped and apparently tastes better than it smells. I know a few restaurants that serve charred foods that are really good, so I can see burnt. Eddie just didn't char his stuff enough. Frankly, I love burnt marshmallows. It's the only way I can stand them so a deep char on something really sweet could work. Raw is easy, Raw veggies, sushi, steak tartar maybe even cerviche where you use acid to "cook" the fish. Slimey is no way for me. That one I would avoid.
-
That would be nice. I will give Arnold points for knowing that he had a big old block about incendiary and then avoiding making a fool of himself using the wrong word during presentation. Screwing up the title of what he was cooking would be worse than eggplant testicles by a long shot.

Yep! The name of the game is ratings.Sawyer is selling like hotcakes. I suspect he's pulling in big votes as well. He's young, he's cute and he really is talented. They want all of his fans to watch until the last minute, not turn off the TV because Sawyer is done singing.

My impression was that the mentors can't do hands on work with the designs. They can help with developing the concept and say things like have you tried using "this" to make filigree. They can even demonstrate making something as long as what they made isn't used on the actual design. The problem with Ben was that his concept was too big and Ben pretty much couldn't be talked out of a concept at once he had made his mind up.

Well, for all the IPO has been the starting point for this show, I don't think it has any intention of talking about how companies actually work. That said, Lucious has a Board of Directors and Andre is the CFO. I THINK that Empire is a private company, which means that the Board and Lucious do own stock in Empire, but they do not trade it publicly i.e. it isn't being sold of the stock market. In this case there is a good chance that Andre, as CFO and a member of the Board DOES own stock in the privately held company Empire. It is possible that Jamal and Hakeem also have shares. Now that Andre, Vernon and Lucious are going public to raise money via the IPO, the current share holders needed to agree how to handle the share they currently own, how many shares to sell on the market and how the new public shares will be divided. Andre had to sign off on the deal, that was why Rhonda had his power of attorney. It sounded like Lucious said this is how we will arrange things and it was agreed by Lucious and the Board and Andre and Hakeem and Jamal that the sons would get a certain kind of share and a certain amount of each share. Lucious just thought he could change the arrangements, the kids would sign off on it and he'd get what he wanted. Andre might well have let it slip through the cracks since he hadn't fully recovered. But Rhonda was sharp enough to read before she signed. The fact that Rhonda HAD to sign for Andre says to me that at least for Andre, Lucious had made arrangement. Rhonda was actually being pretty decent because she honestly seemed appalled that he was cutting out Hakeem and Jamal as well as Andre. Note: I'm not a lawyer, but I know a little about corporations. Any real lawyers can correct me.

I don't think Beth is right and she is way over the top, but she is also pregnant and I remember how those hormones can work! She thought the whole thing would be over and she could have her baby in peace and put Danny's death behind her. Now, she has to live the whole nightmare again, she can't do anything to Joe and Ellie is there and an easy target. Plus, like I said, hormones. So although she is wrong, I'm hoping that eventually, after the baby is born and things wrap up, she becomes more rational about Ellie.

I don't see how Cookie could have known about Andre being bipolar, and even if she did, there was nothing she could do to "check up on him" since she was in jail. She gets out and Andre is successful, CEO of Empire, handling the finances, married and not reaching out to her. I can even cut Lucious some slack here if he knew. If he did know then what he saw was Andre, properly medicated, who was doing his job and not acting out in front of Lucious. Most of the scenes with Andre decompensating were with Rhonda, who was desperately trying to get him medicated properly. There was one scene with Vernon in the bathroom when Andre threatened him. In context, Andre was a man raised in a violent household where he learned to threaten and use violence to keep what was his. So Vernon had reason to think that Andre's behavior was within the norm. Lucious can be extremely self centered and is pretty committed to seeing his kids as extensions of himself. So if he knew Andre was mentally ill, he wouldn't want to admit that. Once Andre got medicated and stable Lucious could convince himself that whatever was going on with Andre was merely a few "episodes" and ignore the rest. Andre doesn't live with the family and he's been stable in front of them, so I don't blame anyone for not noticing if Andre was falling apart.

I spent the last half just hoping that Asher and Bonnie would be okay and that Bonnie hadn't killed Lila. I also want Nate to get off, since he IS innocent. I loved Michaela saying that she loved herself, so go Michaela! Poor, Oliver, I hope Connor stands by him, because I'm actually buying that pairing.

Just proof that Rachel really is a special snowflake who can handle things that no mere mortal can. I worked in a law library and we had part time student assistants. One of them moved up to full time after she graduated. Later she decided to go to law school. We were as flexible as we could be, because she had worked there for years and we really wanted her to succeed. The work wasn't stressful and there weren't deadlines to get a case to court and making an error wouldn't lose a case. After one semester she came to the boss and said she just couldn't work and do well in school. This wasn't an Ivy League School. It was a state college. I mean it wasn't a bad law school, it was pretty good, but it wasn't Columbia with a huge competitive student body either. But Rachel apparently doesn't need study or write papers and I guess she's gotten over her crippling test anxiety, so she just has to go to class and absorb information like a sponge and she will probably graduate first in her class because she is just that good.

Josh Kaufman just got cast as Pippen in the Broadway production by the same name. Is this the first contestant to get a big Broadway role? I've seen the play at community theater and I have tickets to the touring company production that hits my town in February. It's a great show with really good songs. Good for him. I know it's not the kind of success people think of coming from the show, but Clay Aiken did fine moving to Broadway.

Especially since we know Ve is working on a movie, so they would have to work around her schedule to find 3 days when she could participate. She can't manage to schedule one day a week, because she was so busy while the show was shooting.

IIR, his fathe Julio Inglesias expressed some resentment that Enrique had become a bigger star than his father. Julio has admitted that he has never met Enrique's girlfriend of 12 years and apparently doesn't want to meet her. Rumors are that Enrique has avoided family birthdays because his father will be there. Using his first name may be less because he thinks he is so famous and more because he wants to distance himself from his father. He did release his first few songs under a pseudonym so that he would rise or fall on his own talent, not his father's name.
