S07.E01: A Weiner Schnitzel and Underwear in a Tree
Starchild replied to chitowngirl's topic in Young Sheldon
Like maybe someone who didn't look like she could be his twin sister? -
Not to mention Jay being OK with it.

I don't even remember it

S06.E02: Valentine's Day Treats And Credit Card Cheats
Starchild replied to DanaK's topic in The Conners
This didn't sit right. They've always been terrible with money, but they've never been thieves and fraudsters. Very unsettling.- 48 replies

Did they do that with someone other than Karr?

Get those Frites Away from My Face! Drag Race Belgique
Starchild replied to davidcalgary29's topic in RuPaul's Drag Race
I was worried I wouldn't be able to see Season 2, because the first run broadcast was on the French version of Crave (no subtitles), but it seems that after that, the episodes are appearing on the English version on demand with subtitles. The ep 1 talent show was good, with another queen throwing fire around. They pulled a Kandy with the first elimination of the season, calling out as she was walking away that no, they're not eliminating anyone on the first episode after all. Unnecessarily cruel at that point, if you ask me. Ep 2 was a design challenge where everyone was monochromatic in different colours. I thought they all looked pretty good, even the eliminated girl. There are some real vulnerable queens here, it's going to be a heartfelt season I think. -
Forgot to mention, how adorable was Richard E. Grant?
-
LOL, so cynical! If I had the energy I would track those predictions more closely. :P

I really liked the talent show performers. Even the lip sync numbers were original and funny. I liked how the Americans were wondering what the hell was going on with the European penchant for being weird.
-
You forgot to mention that Q finally won! I did like how all the queens in the back were cheering that, though I do wonder how much sarcasm was beneath the surface. I didn't really get how Jane's stitching made her outfit so superior to the others. I liked Plasma's better, more interesting to look at.

Ah but on that show, how far do his teeth protrude out of his mouth?
-
I found the scene where he's begging Babe to tell the filmmakers what she loves about him quite unseemly. He went on and on. Clearly he needed to hear it himself, way more than the filmmakers needed to. Such low self esteem. Unsurprisingly with a mother like that.

Folks had been complaining about John being kind of mush-mouthed the last couple years. I'd noticed it too. Now he's easier to understand, but the teeth seem too big for his mouth. Distracting. It seemed a bit more than that to me. Unless I'm misremembering the dialogue, she restarted the Lunch Box for mommy's approval. But after getting with Neville, she realized his love was enough, and she didn't need it. Which is good because she won't get it now, not with Bev's dementia. I imagine those realizations were enough to rip away any residual enthusiasm she may have had for the business if Bev's approval was the only real driver. Now, where that might all fit into the larger picture of Jackie's character arc over the entire history of both this show and Roseanne, I don't know. But I'm OK with it.

The ball episode was stylish and mildly entertaining, IMO, but didn't advance the story at all. I was bored, overall. Seemed like a waste of an hour.

I did get a very "you got chocolate in my peanut butter" feeling.

Not to me. I still see zero chemistry between them. She reads more like a sister than a partner to me.

I'm shocked that they haven't even tried to research where Hannah is in the present day, or if she's passed, how her life went. At least I can't remember them mentioning anything. Like, that would be the first thing I'd do after Ben ran into her A SECOND TIME! Am I the only one thinking that Ian looked kind of ill? I was worried they were going to say something was wrong with their health. Mark it up to the stress of getting found out re: the chip I guess. Maybe the lighting wasn't flattering. The outfit certainly wasn't, they've looked much better.

Me too, that was not on. I imagine Jane will barely keep the smirk off her face next week. Someone in a review somewhere said that she'll show her true colours if she picks another target after Amanda's departure. We'll see.

Only because they won't let. it. go.

I'm a big Roddy McDowall fan, so when I saw his name in the credits I couldn't think which scene he could have been in. Crawling through IMDB I realized that he was the guy who pulled O'Shea off of Truman at Joanne's Thanksgiving dinner (though not before the poor little guy lost a tooth). I never would have clocked that, I don't think Roddy was that tall, and I certainly never thought of him as someone who would intervene in a physical altercation.

So I know some of us have been ragging on Plane Jane for being a low-rent Jimbo, and she's pushed back on that. But in her skit tonight, all I could see was Jimbo's Fern McCall from AS8. It was practically the same skit anyway (deck building vs gardening services), so I guess I can see why Plane would want to do it. But that's not doing her any favours. She should have chosen something else if she didn't want the Jimbo comparisons.

Wow, the writers of tonight's episode provided dialogue that illustrates the show's quality perfectly, and the point I tried to make last week. ===== Excellent comedy writing: not applicable ⬇️ Good comedy writing: "Take that bet, Dan. I've climbed lots of stairs. Airports, malls..." -- suggests the joke without stating it explicitly; assumes the audience will get it. The original show's writing was often in this category, as were many sitcoms of the era. ⬇️ Average comedy writing: "By any chance do these stairs move?" -- offers the audience a hint, just in case the previous line was too subtle. A little insulting, but tolerable. Common in network sitcoms of the 90s and early 2000s. ⬇️ Poor comedy writing: "I think he means..." "I know he means escalators." -- explicitly states the joke, assuming the audience just isn't smart enough to get it. Juvenile humour seen on shows aimed at little kids. And many current network sitcoms.

I was thinking the same thing. We're so used to using day/night to mark the passing of time in our shows and movies. When there's no change, it really confuses things. But they said it could take 48 hours for the scientists to thaw, so there probably was a change of at least one, and possibly two, days in this episode. Wasn't he in charge? Presumably he'd be the one conducting business on behalf of the station, and they were trying to figure out who was funding it right? They wouldn't necessarily know which credit cards were his personal cards, and which were issued to him by the company, for station business. This is literally an international case; these scientists are from all over the world. But it's been less than a week, and they seemed to be trying to find out who funded the station, so haven't been able to figure out who to call. Is Ennis too remote to have at least one newspaper/reporter though?

I would watch a series with newly-forgiven Munch going around randomly helping people, like a socially awkward Robert McCall.
