They're so flirty I almost forgot he's gay. Find me one that hasn't, I dare you. I guess it was too much to hope that Salen would be gone this episode.

S11.E10: New Haunts
Starchild replied to nodorothyparker's topic in The Walking Dead Franchise Shows
Maintaining capitalism is one of the most disappointing aspects of the Commonwealth. You had a chance to start over and it's back to a money-based society, really? And the clear class division is all very Brave New World. Eat the rich, motherfuckers! -
Not just you. For me this episode was a chore to slog through, redeemed by the final 2 minutes.

All the characters are like that. Somehow, even with the same writer, the only character that somehow manages to not be insufferable is Taylor. Honestly I don't know how they do it.

Was that Decima hanging over the pit? If so, is Vrille still around somewhere?

I found myself wondering two things: 1. It seems Darlene is getting a good salary. Is she helping her dad with the mortgage, since she's benefitting from living at the house? I mean, above and beyond rent. When my parents were getting older and less capable, and wanted to move from the country into town, I lent them some money towards buying their new house (since sale of the country house wouldn't cover it). I helped them out financially regardless of the fact I wasn't benefitting from the transaction. It was just helping my parents. I'm not talking about paying off your parents' mortgage when they are doing OK paying it themselves, but Dan is always right on the edge with his. Wouldn't she try to help a bit more? 2. Has Becky been sober a whole year yet? I thought one of the tenets of AA was not starting a new relationship until you'd given yourself a year to heal your own spirit.

Not much happened to move the story forward (Discovery crossed the barrier and Tarka got his programmable antimatter), but I found this episode very emotionally engaging. First, they really got across the love (whatever form it is) between Tarka and Oros. Of course it's love, no other force drives a person like love does. And the actors sold the relationship in a very understated yet powerful way. Secondly, the chemistry between Saru and T'Rina is off the charts. I'm really rooting for those crazy kids. And finally, the interactions between Vance and Rillak in this episode had me forgetting that they he had a family somewhere else. I kept expecting them to say something that confirmed they were in a relationship with each other. Significant chemistry there as well. Or maybe math ;) Tarka + Oros = past love Saru + T'Rina = present love Vance + Rillak = future love

Ha, in an earlier thread I mentioned how he reminded me of a Labrador Retriever, and in this latest podcast she actually calls him her Labrador Retriever lol
-
I've noticed on their podcasts that he interrupts her constantly. Presumably a feature of his ADHD. It drives me nuts lol but she never loses patience with him. She's clearly made her peace with that quirk of his, and many others I'd wager.

Nothing to say except I love your name. I agree.

Never mind, how do all these conversations between Michael, Nhan and Saru only take Book into account? How are they not even considering Tarka? He's already proven himself a wild card, but they never once mention the risk he poses beyond Book's own actions. Every time they talked about what Book would do, I kept thinking "but what about Tarka?" And what do you know, boom Gah

He has said in the podcasts that he uses humour to help her get out of her own head. Since that's his go-to stress-management approach, it must work most of the time. Not today though. And there's detail-oriented Kim carefully writing it down despite the rage lol My eyes rolled right out of my head. I had to find them on the floor by feeling around. Rolled under the damn recliner. Ha, me too. I was thinking, "after all that don't miss it now" lol. Ryan seemed to spot it almost by accident. That was awesome. She is a true fan.

This. So much this. Michael and Nhan FAILED THEIR MISSION. The one the Admiral and President said had to be accomplished AT ALL COSTS. Are there no consequences for that, for either of them? Or is it mitigated because 10C just ignored them all, "What was that, did you see the lights flicker? Ah never mind, generator kicked in." And Book defied the Federation, putting everyone and everything at risk, for personal revenge. He's a wanted fugitive who's demonstrated that he's dangerous to the safety of all Federation people. If he doesn't end up in prison for this (or whatever the humane 29th century equivalent is), I call shenanigans. Ha just kidding he'll be back on the team in no time. Wonder if they'll even bother to handwave some explanation for not punishing him. Geez, show, follow your own f'in rules.

That does sound interesting. So it sounds like if I did watch more, I wouldn't get pissed off too often then. :P

Thanks. Combined with Jimbo's lacklustre performance when I've seen him consistently do so much better (he was never my favourite but he is still awesome), I am definitely suspicious that he was convinced to throw it. I reiterate, it's BS. Of course competitors are going to get rid of their competition, especially near the end. The winner should be the queen who performs the majority of the tasks/assignments the best, as determined by the judge(s). "Let the best drag queen win, " my arse.
-
OK I have to ask for someone to give me the back story on this format, please. Before this, I had only ever watched the two Canada seasons. Where the judges do the eliminating. Isn't that how it is in the US version as well? Or has it changed? Or is it just the ones outside of North America? Did it change at some point for some reason? I agree that this "Survivor-"esque element is BS.

S11.E09: No Other Way
Starchild replied to nodorothyparker's topic in The Walking Dead Franchise Shows
So I recorded this on Sunday. Not really in a rush to watch it but fully intended to before the week was up. Then today (Tues) I saw this clickbait headline about a shocking death (with pics of Negan and Daryl) and I thought, "welp, better watch it before I get spoilt." And it's Alden? "Shocking"? lolwtf I'd totally forgotten about him. If I never saw him again I wouldn't even notice. -
Eh, maybe. I just don't see this show having that kind of nuance.
-
Forgot to mention how out of the blue Sacker's sudden evil is. There has never been any indication that she was someone who would commit a crime so quickly and easily once unshackled from Chuck. She always presented as ruthless but not amoral. It's one thing to leave public service for the private sector in search of an eventual congressional run. It's quite another for that same ex-public servant to commit securities fraud in their first week on the job. Talk about character whiplash.

Sneakers? Really? Why do I keep watching this nonsense? The dialogue sounds like a stage play where one actor just keeps using different interchangeable masks. They all sound like the same person. Who does not talk anything like a real human being. And everyone always has this supremely smug look on their face, I just want to punch each and every one of them. Every single character is just so punchable. I hate them all. Well not all. Dillon is keeping their character grounded and real through sheer force of will, it's actually kind of amazing how they're managing to keep swimming against all that garbage. Taylor is the only thing I'm still here for. And Mafee is still kind of tolerable, through association.

Didn't Prince just promise Wendy she could have something that he had already promised to his ex? The Olympic head performance coach role?
-
Anyone who watched Jimbo in Canada's Drag Race must think that his lacklustre showing in the Ru-sical is rather suspicious. He is fully capable of doing much better than that.
-
Ha! Still pretty sweet.

She only got two tongue baths in this episode, from Vance and the President. Must be losing her touch. I fully expected her to replace Owo in the ring. Who was that actor, he seemed really familiar to me
